I don't know where to look for the Juchipila records on page 166 of Census Records for Latin America and the Hispanic United States – Lyman De Platt

The line says

Juchipila Zacatecas Mexico 1773 AGI Guadalajara 348

I was looking for the answer to that question but I think i figured it out. I'm going to try to copy and paste the link but if it doesn't work...Go to Jalisco, Church records 1590-1979, Guadalajara, Arzobispado de Guadalajara, padrones 1772-1773, 1784 and it looks like they might start at 146 of 879 but I honestly haven't had a chance to really look at it yet.

looking at it again, I'm not sure where Juchipila's records actually start but I am pretty sure this is where to look for AGI Guad 348 because the I found what I was looking for and it is listed as being in those records too

Would you happen to know which film number is the census of Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico?

Also if there is Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico and Huejuquilla El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico.

I'm sorry, I don't know which roll any of the Jerez padrones would be on. These aren't indexed, you just have to go through each roll. The easiest way is to use the thumbnail viewer, and find the beginning of each padron. Most of them have a title page, or at least a header, announcing which parish it is.

There are several years of padrones, and I'm sure all of the towns you mentioned are included.

Actually I've found that you can find a lot those Nueva Galicia padrones listed in Lymann D. Platt's book, Census Records for Latin America and the Hispanic United States. You can find a copy of it online from Google books for about $10 or something. The book lists the old film numbers, which you can search for in Familysearch under the Catalog search tab. From there it makes it a little easier to look for the specific film instead of searching every single film in the collection. You still need to search manually for the images you're looking for but the multi-image feature helps to see the beginning of the various padrones.

Madera, There does seem to be a good amount of listings of those places in Lymann's book.

P.S. It is worth noting that while most of Platt's indexes for the Guadalajara padrones film locations are accurate, there is sometimes the occasional mistake.

I have Lyman's book, I see the film I need, but I don't see all of the city names--I need the 1840 census roll 168807, great The years don't seem to be consecutive. I so wish someone would transcribe all of this!! arrgh! I will put on my perseverance cap now.

Which year and which town/city are you looking for?

Here is roll 168807, which has Padrones 1817-1840:

As far as I can tell, most of these are in chronological order. This roll has padrones from 1817-1840, so 1840 will be near the end of the roll. I recommend leaping to image500, then use the "thumbnail" viewer. The title page of each Padron is viewable, so just "leap" to the next one, until you find the one you're looking for.

I have many births, marriages, etc in Fresnillo, so I think I'll go to that region. When I look these areas up in Platt's book shows AAG and AGI Guadalajara. These are both archives-does that mean they aren't anywhere on microfilm? Do you have any thoughts/suggestions?
