That history of Monte Escobedo is what got me on Leonardo de la Torre's 
trail.  It is very interesting because many of the heirs took on the 
name Covarrubias, who were prolific among the few Spanish families that 
were in the Totatiche area in the 17th Century and it looks like a lot 
of the land that was owned by Francisco Escobedo was around Totatiche.  
I think there are references to el Rio Guajuquilla, which I have found 
out from other sources is today called the Rio Cartagenas which runs 
through Totatiche.
