yes joining that list is so user unfriendly. . .you'll just have to
fiddle with the instructions until you get it. sorry but it is hard to
finally get subscribed.
in fact if I had to subscribe today I'd have to read the instructions
myself. . .I don't remember how I did it.

Are these the same archives that are in Ancestry.com? I found
one of my ancestors on their Immigration Section for 1550 on that
website (you must be a subscriber). I tried the instructions for the
AER and couldn't follow them. Soy muy mensa (technically challenged).
