Hey everybody, I need some help.
What does con Tercero con cuarto
grado de consanguidad? I found
a marriage for cousins in my lines
and could potentially help me rack
my own line too. Does anyone by 1772
if the dispensations still were under
La Sagrada Mitra of Guadalajara, since this
marriage happened in Calvillo, Aguascalientes, the
document states it was sent to the city of Aguascalientes,
signed by Manuel Colon de Laurreatagui on 2 of
april 1772.

Thanks,
Daniel

Just like everyone has already mentioned this just means that the bride and groom were related. One was a great-great-grandchild and the other was a great-grandchild of the tronco. Plus there is the "grado de afinidad". Here are the notes I have for exactly one of those...

My ancestor Ignacio Hernández and his second wife, María del Carmen Velásquez (who was not my ancestor...his third wife Francisca Guzmán was) were married on Monday, 16 Apr 1810, in the Parroquia Santa María de Guadalupe, Arandas, Jalisco, México. They required a dispensation for a "parentesco de consanguinidad en cuarto con tercer grado de Afinidad"...

This dispensation was the missing link that helped me connect this branch of the Hernández Gamiño family to the main tronco. The dispensa is 40 pages long and is found in the Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, Microfilm # 0168154, for the town of Arandas, written between 27 Nov 1809 and 28 Mar 1810. In it Ignacio Hernández states: "dixo llamarse

Hey steven: This sounds really interesting. I have many relatives or almost every single one of them who
married a cousin. Any many could help me extend my own genealogy. I noticed in the dispensa
films theres like 700 and although Luz Montejano Hilton;s book is a wealth of info, it doesnt not include
all the dispensas. Im looking for a dispensa from 1772, theres 7 films with that year. Im so tempted
to order all 700, If I was rich! Ive always dreamed of Ranchos to take this project own. Like Guillermo
Tovar says we are a team an equipo and must work together! These dispensas would be help
to all genealogist! How long are the films? I might order one just for the heck of it to check it out.
Thats crazy how yours is 40 pages long, are all like these for espanoles? Id probably just copy
the tree down and make a copY! thanks

I believe "tercero con cuatro" means that the male was 3 generations from
the shared ancestor and the female was 4 generations, so the shared ancestor
was his ggpt and her 2ggpt. I don't know whether
Aguascalientes dispensations were still sent to Guadalajara by 1772. I can
look it up for you if you send the the names involved. -Raquel

No, I own a copy of *Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara Antiguo Obispado de La
Nueva Galicia* by Maria de la Luz Montejano Hilton, which has extractf for
the 17th and 18th centuries.
