I have just located the will of Juan Macias Valadez in the Aguascalientes archives. It is dated 24 Nov 1680.

It says he is "hijo natural" of Gaspar Macias Valadez and Beatris Peres. It also says he married Juana de Saldana in the Church and had the following children:
Juan Macias
Maria de Saldana, m. Pedro Lopes
Ana Macias
Juana Baptista (Macias? Saldana?)
Nicolasa Macias, m. Joseph de Luna
Antonio Macias
Josepha Macias
Francisco Macias.

Antonio and Francisco were baptized in the 1650s, in Aguascalientes.

Is this Gaspar Macias Valadez the same as Gaspar who is the son of Nicolas Macias Valadez and Leonor de Retamosa?

George, this site is wonderful. I was able to extend a "dead-end" line 3 more generations. For me it worked easiest to just use the "Tipo" button and scroll down to "Testamentos." Sorry to sound too greedy; but my question now is whether there is a way to use the Archivo Historical de Jalisco? Thank you, Deedra Corona

Deedra

Thank you the complement; but it really goes to others at NR who originally posted the information about this site.

I'm not familiar with the Jalisco archive ... perhaps someone else at NR is familiar with it?

George:
I thikn you discovered something very interesting! Josepha and Ana Macias Saldaña are both my ancestors!; the first married to Jacinto Sandoval Gutiérrez, and the second to Francisco Martel Macias Valadez.
What I'm not so sure is if the Gaspar Macías Valadez is the son of Nicolas and Leonor.
Juan Macías Valadez died July 3, 1681 in Aguascalientes.

George and Luis,
No need to thank me. Over the last years I've received so much from NR members, that reciprocating is a pleasure. George, regarding how long it takes to transcribe these documents, it depends on several factors. 1) Quality of image\condition of the document, 2) How legible is the handwriting of an specific author, 3) Whether abbreviations or odd terms\names are used (there are some very interesting terms for disease or farm and home utencils), 4) length of the document, and 4) Transcribing method. 5) Experience. This one of Juan Macias Valades took me a very long time (about six hours) because of issues with poor permanship and certain abbreviations that were difficult to decipher, the usage of certain terms, including some latin, and the length of the document, and it was my second attempt to transcribe a testament. However, one thing that accelerates the pace of transcription, is to focus on batches from a particular notary. You do not only learn how to read the
