late 1700s and early 1800s

Anybody know where I can find information about Juchipila, Zacatecas, in the late 1700s and early 1800s?
Thanks,

Raul Luna

That is so crazy, Raul. I have just spent the last 2 hours looking and hoping for just that information on family search. I finally gave up and came to nuestros ranchos, and yours is the first post I see :) May I ask what family names you are looking for during that time in Juchipila?

HI, Sandra..my oldest grandfather, Pablo Luna and his wife, Rosalia Estrada, were born about 1780, married about 1800, and first child was born abt 1804. Their children were Pantaleon, my ggg grandfather, his brother Felipe, and sister Eustaquia Estrada Luna. Most of this Luna family came for Amoxochitl, Juchipila, Zacatecas. What names are you looking for? Saludos, Raul

Hi Raul - I am reasearching the names - Castañeda and Flores. Primarily Castañeda, and really looking at Rafael Castañeda and Simona Flores. To be honest, I'm not even sure I should be looking in Juchipila. My great grandfather, Hilario Castañeda, was born in Moyahua in 1867 to a Manuel Castañeda and Secundina Yñiguez. The paternal grandparents were listed as Rafael Castañeda and Simona Flores. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any records for a Manuel Castañeda in Moyahua (no birth, marriage, or death records). There are only birth and marriage records for his children which show Rafael and Simona as the paternal grandparents. I started looking in Mezquital del Oro because that is where Hilario eventually ended up but was not able to find anything there. Then one day, I found several indexed marriage records in Juchipila listing a Domingo Castañeda, son of Rafael Castañeda and Simona Flores. I thought maybe the reason I was not finding anything for Manuel or Rafael in Moyahua was because MAYBE they came from Juchipila, and this Domingo is Manuel's brother, but the records for the years I need to research this further are missing. That is why I would also be happy to find the records from the late 1700s to early 1800s.
Saludos, Sandra

Hi,Sandra...I have some Castanedas in my family tree..they are on my gggrandfather's brother, Felipe Estrada Luna branch. I have a Luis, abt 1815 married to a Benitez Ochoa; son, Jose Ma. Ochoa Castaneda married to a Francisca Rubalcava Torres; then a Castulo Torres Castaneda married to a Ma. Reyes Cobarubbias Luna;with Maria Teresa and Amada Castaneda as daughters. Juchipila, Moyahua, M de Oro, Apostol, and some of the other small areas around could possibly have your ancestors. I have been surprised where I have found some of my relatives..I will keep an eye out for those names you mentioned, since I search just about every day.. Saludos, Raul
