Hola,

Estoy buscando la fuente documental para asegurar que Bernarda Chavez y Banuelos (casada con Tomas de Vela en Tlaltenango aprox. 1660) fue hija de el Capitán Juan de Chavez y Banuelos y de Isabel Ruiz de Soto y Almeida. Dicha información la he encontrado en varias genealogías publicadas en linea; pero desafortunadamente sin listar la fuente documental para unir a Bernarda con su "padre" Juan. Cualquier información se agradecería.

I'm looking for the documental source to ensure that Bernarda Chavez y Banuelos (married to Thomas de Vela in Tlaltenango approx. 1660) was the daughter of Captain Juan de Chavez y Banuelos and Isabel de Soto y Ruiz Almeida. I found this information on several online genealogies published on-line; but unfortunately they don't list the source to link Bernarda to her father Juan. Any information is appreciated.

i know i've came accross a document linking bernarda, but i can't remember where at the moment. i think this doucment said she had a sister name josefa.

Hi Katy,

Please let me know if you are able to find the document. The only thing that I have as a possibility is that Bernarda had a brother called Diego de Banuelos. He was the godfather to one of Bernarda's children (Juana Vela baptized on 26 Oct 1661).

yeah i wonder if that diego banuelos is the same one who married maria benavides.
while i haven't found that record yet, i've also found a document linking josefa chavez and maria (clara) chavez as sisters(maria might have also went by the name clara. if so then there's a brother named juan, and their dad may have also went by the names juan and leonor).

This is what I have (all of them with documented source):

Capitan Juan de Chavez y Banuelos married Ysabel Soto y Almeida

Children:

Josepha de Chavez y Banuelos married to Joseph Sanchez Castellanos
Pedro de Chavez y Banuelos married to Agueda de Olague de la Torre
Maria de Chavez y Banuelos married to Juan de la Torre y Mojica

(then I have the document to link Josepha y Maria as sisters and daughters of Juan and Ysabel)

ON OTHER SIDE WITHOUT ABLE TO LINK THEM

Bernarda de Banuelos (Maybe Chavez y Banuelos) married to Thomas de Vela
Maybe with a brother Diego de Banuelos who was a godfather of one of the children with Phelipa Delgado. I don't know if Phelipa Delgado was his wife or not.

In my next post I will be posting all the sources for the family Juan de Chavez y Banuelos with just 3 of the children. (josepha, Pedro y Maria) Maybe you have another one.

yeah i remember coming accross some of those records you listed.

here's two records i found that might be related to maria chavez(who might have also gone by the name clara)
