Wow! Seriously! some one posted $760. for the purchase price of the books?

Don't fall for the rip off!
If you have someone living in Guadalajara, Jalisco You can send them to the Bookstore where I purchased mine (had a niece go get them for me in 2011), the Books are big and heavy and at that time cost me around $80.00 dls. I don`t remember exactly how much I paid for that but I think somewhere around $30. dls. in any case depending on how much the books might cost now, shipping, and a Taxi if they don't have a vehicle, I think it is safe to say should total around $200.00 dls. Here is the address and name of the bookstore where we got mine from:

Librería Mariano Azuela
Callejón Del Càrmen
Av. Juárez No. 612
Col. Centro
Guadalajara, Jal
Tel. 01 (33) 30 30 13 51

I would call before sending anyone to make sure they have them in stock.

Thank you! Can you tell us what type of information is contained in the books. How are they organized and how many books in the set?

Hello JBarba,

It is a Set of 10 Books.

The first book contains a lot of History. The Books are organized by some of the Original Hispanic Last Names that populated the area of Nueva Galicia. It is a valuable research that contain works of other people (properly credited by the Author), such as Mary Lou Montagne.

In Addition to going by Last Name he breaks it down by Descendants (when available), and Towns.

I will add though that it is not a complete work in the sense that, not all Last names that came originally to the area are in this Collection. The Author says he used only the Paternal name, but as some of us know; many, many people used their mother's last name and/or Grandparent's.

Hope I answered your questions,

Shivis

Thank you Shivis! You are very kind to take time and explain this. I wonder how the copyright laws work once the publisher is no longer publishing the book. I wonder if we can buy the rights to digitize or get permission to digitize the contents. Is the autor still alive?

If this is great information it’s a shame not to have it available for others to research.
Does anyone here know the answers to any of these questions?

The books are listed on Abebooks for $780. There is no way I can justify that. I'm wondering if there is a way to see if they sell them anywhere in Guadalajara online. I'm going to see my aunt and uncle in March or April. If they don't ship them to the US I can have them sent to them or if they are in print in Mexico I can just go buy them.

Hello,
Im selling my set for cheaper. You can reach me at pavendano200@icloud.com. Im in the states.

Hola, were your aunt and uncle able to see if the Retonos books were for

My cousin would like to purchase a copy of Retoños. Most of these posts look several years old. Is there a place I can send him to purchase? Or is there anyone interested in selling theirs?

Danny

I would be interested in purchasing a copy of Retonos too if it's not too expensive

Chris

Hello,
I spoke to that book store about 6 months ago and they no longer had sets. Also the publisher didn’t have any plans on reprinting. Check again if there are any updates.

Borderlands Books. If he doesn't have it, have the person try Alibris, or Google. Happy New Year!

Hi Daniel,

Glad to hear you are interested in Retoños's, it is an outstanding
genealogy work. I have more interest than I have books so if you would
like I can take an order or put you on the list. I should have a few more
copies in about one week. The price is $760, if you live in California I
will pay the sales tax and shipping is $20. I can also do a layaway.
