Wishing you all had a wonderful Christmas and all of us a Happy New
Year.

 

I just came in town and saw all the emails--taking my time to go through
them all, so I apologize if I am a little late on this response, which caught my
attention.

 

When I went Ghana, Africa, I learned about the "adrinka" symbols whose
origins are said to be of the Ivory coast, originating by the Asanti
people.  As I stared at the beauty of the symbols, one struck my
attention - I had seen it before.  I asked the professor about this
particular symbol, and guess what - it is one that can be seen in Spanish
architecture - probably coming from the Moors.  What the professor was
claiming that the adrinka symbols was unique to Ghana was probably erroneous,
especially considering that Ghana was a center of trade long time ago --- so the
poor professor had to acknowledge that the Ghanaian symbol probably evolved from
a combination of other northern or eastern African cultures as well as the
Ashantis.  Nothing is pure, which makes everything we do even more
fascinating.
