Possibly the reason you didn't find a connection to a my "Cornejo" might
be becuase my grandmother wasn't from Jalos, she was from San Juan de Los
Lagos.
I just found that out last friday, talking to my cousin who lives in
Yucaipa.

Of the Jalos surnames you mentioned, the only surname I don't have is
Cornejo, but I know two Jalos families with that surname who live in a
nearby town in Northern Calif. Two brothers of which one married a
Gonzales and the other married a Gutierrez of course. I am distantly
related to the wives. :)

Irma: Irma: Thank you for the information, but I don't see any connections yet...Maybe later as I keep finding more relatives. Let me give you a quick run down of the Gonzalez family that I am researching: Pedro Gutierrez married to Candida Gonzalez, they had two boys and a girl: Doroteo, Refugio, and Rosario. Rosario married Simon Gonzalez. Simon's parents were Rafael Gonzalez and Antonia Franco. Simon Gonzalez and Rosario Gutierrez had three children: Tiburcio, Patricio and Monica. Patricio married Josefa Cornejo and they had 8 children. One of them, also named Patricio, was my father. Josefa Cornejo parents were Jesus Cornejo and Filomena Perez. This is a pretty rough summary of the Gonzalez family. I will be going to Jalos in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to a visit to Rancho Los Portales, I understand there is still quite a few people living there. Maybe I'll find some relatives still living there (descendents, of course!) If time allows, I might take a trip to Jerez to see if I can locate "Minillas de Jerez" My mother was born there. She was "Cerros" but that's an entirely different story that's going to have to wait until I finish with my father's side in Jalos. John Gonzalez Wildomar, CA. |
