Well if it were me I'd start by evaluating the evidence pointing me to
another country. If I had strong compelling evidence I'd consider a
move in that direction. If I didn't I'd search frame by frame films
easily avialable via the LDS system. If that didn't work I'd go to
outside the LDS system info or be looking into this info at the same
time. . .maybe some Tlajomulco letters to the church(s) are in order or
possibly consider a one time consultation with someone that is well
versed in the history/genealogy of that area. Below there is a census
from the Archivo de Indias that is available with some effort. I guess
the main point I'm trying to make is to make sure you are pointed in
the right direction before you jump. . .otherwise you might be jumping
into years of wrong direction moves.

 The reason I am asking this is because 
I cannot find any information on the IGI about my Apodaca ancestors 
in Jalisco before 1784.

well keep it in mind that the IGI reflects only a small percentage of
what is actually available. Not only a small percent of  what is
available via the LDS library but even a smaller percent of what is
available outside the LDS library.  If your Apodaca ancestors also came
from the Tlajomulco area you have great Census records available going
back to 1777 (from Seville) or 1778-1813 from LDS (224894) [see the
Ranchos2 file on Dr. Platt's Census records]. Have you checked Luz
Montejano's book on Marriage dispensations? Even if you don't find
anything there that is only a percentage of what is available on
dispensas via the LDS library from the Guadalajara Diocesis.

 I know that my ancestor Domingo Apodaca was 
a mestizo married that year

well in the marriage records I've seen many give location of where the
bride and groom were from especially if they were from someplace
outside the diocesis. Where were they from? Also did you check any
Informacion Matrimonial records for Tlajomulco?

 and that his parents were Jose Maria 
Apodaca and Paula de Albiano. However, where should I look for info 
about the origin of the parents? Domingo's wife, Gertrudis Bonal, 
was a espanola and I can trace her ancestors back to the beginning 
of the 1700's in Tlajomulco, Jalisco. I know where to look for these 
ancestors. But for my Apodaca line, I just don't know what to do. I 
am planning to check all documents of Domingo's brothers and their 
children to see if I can find a clue about Jose Maria Apodaca and 
Paula de Albiano. Can anyone of you help me with this? I would 
really appreciate any guidance.
