Way back in 2003 I tested with Ancestry. That was a big mistake. They soon went out of business so the company was no help or use for research.
Is there anyone that could answer this question? I have a paternal ancestor
from Aguascalientes that I believe changed his name when coming to Texas,
at least that's what my aunt believes. The name she thinks it originally
was is not that common but it is a name I've seen a lot in Aguascalientes.
And, my question is could a DNA test prove what that original name was?
Paige Herrera
It could if other people with the same surname also take the same DNA test
and the results are similar. You can visit our DNA Project at

Paige,
I don't believe it can answer that particular question, what the original
name if any was, but it can answer the relationship issue,it can prove or
disprove relationship.

Paige, if a male relative from that line gets a Y-DNA37 test, sometimes a
Y-DNA67 test is necessary, and finds a match with someone with ancestry
from the region and that match has very good documentation back to a
founding family then we can assume that the genetic surname of your male
relative should be the one of the match. If there are more matches that
also have good documentation then it solidifies the case. This has happened
more than a few times already.
We already have several cases of brick walls being broken down within the
Nueva Galicia DNA project due to Y-DNA testing. One case was written about
here. http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/21944
You can see the Y-DNA results at
https://www.familytreedna.com/public/NuevaGaliciaDNA/default.aspx?secti…
Be aware that there are a lot of cases that the brick wall has not been
broken down and you might have to wait years until that match with
documentation shows up, if ever. With better tests coming out and DNA
testing
thank you Armando, my DNA results are based on my mother sister DNA test, myself and my youngest sister. we all seem to reflect the basic findings I talked above.

Juana Dominguez (Married to Juan Macias Valadez, 12 Jun 1683 in
Aguascalientes) was daughter of Juan Hernandez and Ana Dominguez. Juana had at least 6 siblings. In the baptismal records of one of these, Ana is listed as Ana Domingues de los Inojos (Hinojos). I've not been able to locate Juan & Ana's marriage record, to find the names of the Juana's grandparents, so I've hit a road block. However, I found a potential couple: Pedro Alonso de los Inojos and Ana Domingues (died 14 August 1675). Could these be Ana's parents and thus Juana's grandparents? Any help will be appreciated.
I have an Antonia Gomez married to Diego Estrada on 20 Oct 1692 in Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco, México, Antonia's parent were Diego Gomez and Mensia Velasco de Espexo. Is this the same Diego and Mensia?
Joe Rubio
Joseph,
After experiencing a similar problem in another recent search (earlier dates suddenly appeared later), I tried looking forward and backward just in case. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate records for 1683-84 in that film.

I have long suspected that Toribio Hernandez de arellano was a member of the ramirez de arellano line. There are many!!! other reasons to agree with this line!!! I spent a lot of time and effort working fruitlessly when the answer was right under my nose. When working on his tree I made the simple mistake of not remembering that hernandez and fernandez are interchangeable in this period of time.I have done much work on the fernandez de hijar line without even thinking to connect it with toribio Hernandez .I would have come to this same conclusion a long time ago if I had only opened my eyes.
I am a little confused about isabel mendoza parents. I have not spent any time or effort working on this line because I had believed that her father was inigo Hurtado de mendoza? I did not know that there was a questiion about her parents.

You are correct, I also have this suspicion about Toribio, he is obviously related to the Ramirez Arellano, Toribio was said to be a distant relative of Tristan
de Luna y Arellano. If my guess is correct, Toribio should be son of Juan Fernandez de Hijar and Catalina Ramirez de Arellano. Not sure why he would combine his parents last name if this is correct? Which Inigo Mendoza are you talking about? -Daniel Camino

Jaime,
You are correct. Pedro Alonso de los Inojos and Ana Dominguez married in Sierra de Pinos 3 May 1632 and had ten children before 1650. At least seven of them were baptized at the old "Parroquia de la Asuncion de Aguascalientes", including their daughter Ana Dominguez, who went by her mother's name. This Ana married twice. First, she married Juan Hernandez (I haven't found their marriage record either) who died Feb 1688 in Aguascalientes. After her husband died, she married Francisco Fernandez
Hi Jaime, from the "dispensa" if you read my last funny story it wasnt a dispensa but a warning from the Pope and the church. Felipe's father (José Alonso de los Hinojos was son of Pedro Alonso and Ana Domínguez if im correct. Maybe Bill can sustain my statement? ALso. There is a Leonor Sánchez de Hinojos how does she fit in is she a daughter of Pedro? Where does Sánchez come from. Eventually the last bit of the dispensa says something about no debéis estar juntos ni veros along the lines
Jaime,
Felipe Alonso de los Inojos was the grandson of Pedro Alonso de los Inojos and Ana Dominguez. Felipe's parents were Jose Alonso de los Inojos and Teresa Ruiz de Esparza. Felipe was baptized 25 May 1672 at "Parroquia de la Asunción de Aguascalientes".

Thanks again Bill,
I also found some information that you may be interested in (although you may already have it). I located and downloaded the jpg files for the burial records of the following:
1. Pedro Alonso de los Inojos, buried March 23 1660 in Aguascalientes
2. Ana Dominguez (wife of Pedro Alonso de los Inojos) buried in Aguascalientes August 14, 1675
I also found the baptism record of: Juana Dominguez (April 11, 1665), daughter of Juan Hernandez and Ana Dominguez.
Now, this is when it gets interesting, and you may be able to provide some insight. In the marriage record of Juan Macias Valades, son of Joseph Macias Valades and Catalina de la Vega, with Juana, on June 12, 1683 in Aguascalientes, Juana Dominguez is listed as Juana Gomez Espejo, legitimate daughter of Juan Hernandez and Ana Dominguez. Any idea where does the "Gomez Espejo" comes from and why would she be given that surname at her wedding? In the marriage of their son Sevastian Macias Valades to Juana Gonzalez
Hello Jaime, Its Daniel I believe Juan Hernández is in fact Hernández y Gamiño, the only way a Gómez de Espejo could be produced, there were MANY Juana Gómez de Espejos the last name always passed down maternally. Also if possible I would love a copy of Pedro's and Ana;'s burial record if possible! -Daniel Camino

I have a strong feeling Juan is son of Domingo Hernández yGamiño and Juana Gómez de Espejo? But need to verify it with documentation! This is my take of a possible take on it. Once again only a possibility, there was a Juan but have no marriage info or such! They were from Ayo El Chico to go all the way to aguas to get married is interesting if he is Gamiño. Taking the time frame Domingo "el mayor" from Trujillo, Spain was the patriarch, so its possible this is the Juan, but we need a marriage or from familysearch or something.

Jaime,
Please double-check the marriage record of Juan Macias Valades with Juana Dominguez (aka Juana Gomez). I only have the extraction, and I believe the word after "Gomez" is "esps" which is the usual abbreviation for "españoles". I could be wrong, but I've never seen the surname "Espejo" in any records of Aguascalientes. The extraction I made of the original reads as follows:
12 Junio 1683.- Juan Macias Baladez, hijo legitimo de Joseph Macias Balades y de Catalina Vega, vecs. de esta jurisdicion, con Juana Gomes, esps. hija legitima de Juan Hernandez y de Ana Dominguez, vecs. de dha jurisdicion. Testigos Diego Gonsales, Diego Presiado y los padrinos que fueron Nicolas Ramirez y D. Maria de Siordia.
The record is poorly written, but I interpret it as saying "Juan Macias Baladez con Juana Gomes, españoles". I don't know where the Gomez comes from, maybe from her father's side...? I will check the microfilm I have on permanent loan at the FHC and email you a scan if you don
Bill,
I checked the marriage record. I have transcribed the information putting in parentheses inferred information that cannot be read. Also placing a question mark within brackets [?] is that information that I am not certain. It reads as follows:
Al Margen-- Ju(an) Macias Baladez con Ju(ana) Gomes espejo[?] Casados y Velados
There are two important aspects that I want to underscore. First
Thanks for the scan of the marriage record of Juan Macias Valadez and Juana Dominguez. You're absolutely right, it does say "Gomes espejo". There is no mention of racial group as "españoles", "indios", "mestisos" or what have you, but we know they were "españoles". I have been through most 17th century church records of Aguascalientes and so far have not found anyone with the surname "Gomes Espejo" or "Gomes de Espejo". The compounded surname may have originated in Jalisco, where a Juana Gomez de Espejo married a Pedro Navarro Gaitan in Tepatitlan, Jal. 2 July 1697, and a Joana Gomez de Espejo who married Pedro Gonzalez in San Agustin, Ayo el Chico, Jal. 10 May 1700. The last one was the daughter of Diego Gomez de Espejo and Mensia de Velasco. The only suggestion I have is to check "Informaciones Matrimoniales" of Aguascalientes. I spent nearly two years looking for the parents of my 5th great-grandmother Josepha Iñiguez de Ulloa. Finally I ordered the microfilm with

Thanks for the info. I also searched for "Espejo" in Aguas and found the
same 20 records. However, they're from 19th century (1826-1879) and the
person we are looking for was married some 200 years earlier, in 1683. I
have been through some 50 films with records from Aguascalientes in the last
five years, and never before encountered that surname.

I'm sure you know this already but for some of the others that might be
reading your interesting research I wanted to say that just because you
find a gap like that doesn't mean that later on in the film those
records might suddenly show up. i've looked at film that had a message

Hello Jaime and Bill--
The Gómez de Espejo did originate in Jalisco, more specifically Ayo El Chico, Ocotlán and Tepatitlán and surrounding areas, They were seated in Ayo El Chico to begin with. All the Juana Gómez de Espejo, Bill had listed are grandchildren and descendants of Juana I Gómez de Espejo "La Mayor" her surname was very popoular with her descendants, several adopted it. Ive researched Ayo and some of the main families were Gómez de Espejo, Camarena, Ruiz de Velasco and Hernández Gamiño these married extensiveley before going to the north in main Los Altos area i.e. Jalos etc. This is very interesting I like Bill have never seen a Gómez de Espejo this early in Aguas, they must have come from Ayo or aroundto Aguas. The Diego Gómez de Espejo--Bill had mentioned, was son of Domingo Hernández y Gamiño and Juana Gómez de Espejo, Diego had adopted his maternal surname, which is something huge, Ive usually seen mostly women take maternal names unless the son if named after the
Thanks Daniel for the very interesting info. It would be great if we could establish the connection.

The Hernandez-Gamno family first settled in Aguascalientes. Domingo Hernandez-Gamino and Juana Gomez del Espejo had a few children born there. They moved to Leon where some of their children were married. They spread to Ayo el Chico and Arandas, with branches later extending to Jalostotitlan and San Miguel el Alto.
Brothers Juan and Blas Hernandez-Gamino married two Dominguez sisters.
Juan married Ana and they had a daughter named Juana who married Juan Macias-Valadez
Blas married Luisa on 19/jul/1654 in Aguascalientes, and had a daughter also named Luisa who married Niclas de los Santos y Bustos on 12/jun/1696 also in aguascalientes
Blas was also known as Blas Gomez Espejo
My wife and I both descend from the hernandez-Dominguez lines.
Feel free to ask me for more information. Steve hernandez wrote a very good article documenting his lines of the family. The work is incomplete as it focuses more on his personal lines but it is a good starting point for your research on
Can you clarify who were the parents of Juan and Blas Hernandez-Gamino? Were they Domingo and Juana?

I am very interested in receiving additional information on this family. A few weeks ago, here in the Nuestros Ranchos, after I transcribed the marriage record of Juan Macias Valades and Juana Dominguez, we realized that the name listed for Juana at her wedding was Juana Gomez Espejo (as opossed to Domingues -as it later appears in christenings and weddings of her children). We began to wonder where the Gomez Espejo came from. The information you provided has shed light on that mistery.By the way, If you don't have it already and are interested, I can send you a jpg file of the marriage of Juan Macias Valades and Juana.

I am puzzled about the information you provided about the "Hernández-Gamiño"
and "Gómez de Espejo" families of Aguascalientes. I have been extracting
information from many "Registros Parroquiales" of the 17th and early 18th
centuries (except for LDS Film #299423) but so far the only reference to the
"Gómez de Espejo" surname I have seen is the one mentioned by Jaime
Alvarado. You said that both Juan and Blas Hernández used the surnames
"Hernández-Gamiño" and "Gómez de Espejo" interchangeably. Could you name
some specific records where these compounded surnames were used? (in
Aguascalientes, of course).
Thank you.

To Jaime: I would love to have the picture and any aditional info you may send.
To Bill: I do not have all my records in front of me at the moment but I seem to recall that I first started looking for gomez de espejo when I read the SHHAR journal volume V, i think where Steven hernandez provided that information. I then used that information to springboard my own continuing investigations into the family.
A little added info:
Blas Hernandes married Luisa Dominguez on 16/jul/1654 in Aguascalientes
Juan Hernandez (Jr.) was baptized by Juan Hernandez and ana Dominguez on 9/may/1672 also in aguascalientes
My wife also descends from a Agustin Hernandez I have the film # but have not had a chance to order it

Thank you for your answer. Where can I find the SHHAR journal volume V? I
would love to see Steven Hernández family tree.

I am still trying to get a copy of it for you. I went back to read it again and, combined with my notes have new info for you.
It seems that the Juan hernandez "el Escribano" arrived in Patzcuaro,Michoacan and bought property there: an hacienda named Tombendan where he also owned a trapiche (un molino de cana y asucar).
He is also shown to be a vecino de la villa de salamanca Guanajuato. I find his children baptisms in aguascalientes so I believe that he moved between these three places and settling most probably in leon gto because of the childrens marriage certificates.
steve states that he had 1 son and at least 4 daughters. He states that we descend from his son Domingo Hernandez Gamino who married Juana Gomez de Espejo. I am interested in finding the information on Domigo's sisters.
Domingo and Juana had at least 12 children:
Domingo Hernandez Gamino
Isabel Gomez de Espejo
Nicolas Gamino
Cristobal Hernandez Gamino m. Maria Ruiz de Velasco
Margarita de Espejo
Blas Hernandez
I come from Blas Hernández y Gamiño and Margarita Gómez de Espejo.
I have a total of 13 kids for Domingo and Juana

I have a copy of it. I will try to see how I can get another copy for you. I think he has done wonderful work. my trail of the hernandez tree makes me believe, because of the births and marriages that the family mainly first settled in Aguascalientes before moving on to Leon Gto(Marriage certificates) and then on to ayo el chico and arandas. they may have passed by there on their way to aguascalientes and decided to comeback to ayo el chico, i do not know. I do have the family in aguasclientes before I see them in leon. They seemed to stay long enough in leon for a couple of marriages if I remember correctly and then I find family in Ayo el chico. I did not work on this lin too much previously but have been doing so for the past weekss because I found that my mother in law descends from two of the hernandez gamino lines. She is probably a 5th or 6th cousin to steven hernandez. I havent work out their relationship yet.

Jaime,
You are correct. After her husband died, she married Francisco Fernandez de Palos Dec 1688 at Las Peñuelas. They had no children, as Ana was already 49 years old. The parents of the first Ana Dominguez (who married Pedro Alonso de los Inojos) were Miguel Diaz and Maria Medel. You're probably wondering: Where does the name Ana Dominguez come from...? Well, it's not that complicated. Maria Medel was the daughter of Pedro Medel and Ana Dominguez. The name of this first Ana Dominguez was used for several generations by her descendants, which is typical of

Jaime, Edgar
"He married Ana Dominguez on 3 may 1632 in
Sierra de Pinos, Zacatecas. He was buried on 23
March 1660 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes."

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11824-52111-21?cc=1502404&…

Subject: Meeting reminder and Agenda
Hello everybody,
Our next meeting is scheduled on Saturday, July 12
Would someone be able to translate a marriage record for me? I can pick out pieces of it, but don't know enough Spanish to translate the entire thing.
The majority of the record is the typical language of a marriage record. Here are the pertinent genealogical details:
The groom is Jose Ygnacio Rodriguez, yndio (indio), origo (born) y vecino (resident) de esta (this place) en San Nicolas (the specific rancho/location). He is the son of Juan Manuel Rodriguez and Maria Teodora (deceased).
The bride is Maria Orencia Briseno, yndia, born at Juanacatique in the jurisdiction of Tavasco (Tabasco), and resident since she was a small child at Llano de Santiago. She is the daughter of Torivio Briseno and Maria Juliana Ortis.
The padrinos were Feliciano Medrano and Maria Jose, yndios of this jurisdiction at Pena Blanca. The witnesses appear to be Don Pablo Gonzales and Don Dionicio de Velasco, vecinos of this congregation.
I hope this helps!
Rosalinda
Thank You Rosalinda!!! The abbreviations get me messed up sometimes. I could not make out the Tabasco jurisdiction. This will definitely help me while reading others. Thanks again!
Jessica
The jurisdiction of Tabasco.... would this be the town of Tabasco just west of Calvillo in Zacatecas or is it referring to the state of Tabasco?
I couldn't say definitively, Jessica, but I would say probably the town in Zacatecas rather than the state. Also, Tabasco is now known as Villa del Refugio.
Hi Jessica,
Will you please post the web address for the record? It makes it much easier for us to look at it.

Julia,
In regards to Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza, also known as "Bernardo Salado" and even one one occasion "Bernardo Salado de Esparza," I have hypothesized that perhaps Bernardo Salado married to Juana de Siordia had something to do with this. Perhaps he was named after him, they were a distinguished couple in Aguascalientes, of their time. Three sons of Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza were Cristobal Salado, Nicolas Salado and Lucas Salado. At least two of his grandchildren used the name as well, Gertrudis and Bernardo Salado. It is an interesting topic to evaluate. Unfortunately, I believe we may never know the truth behind the Salado-Esparza name. For now, we know Bernardo Salado was son of Lope Ruiz de Esparza and Ana Francisca de Gabay.

IN DOING RESEARCH IN THE JALISCO CHURCH RECORDS I FOUND A GREAT AUNT PETRA TORRES THAT MARRIED VALERIO MACIAS ON 2 JULY 1814 AND IT LIST BOTH AS BEING INDIOS.
There are many people from the region that would like to know which Indian
tribes their ancestors came from but there really is no way to know for
sure. We know that the original Indians in the area were zacatecos,
cazcanes, tecuexes and guachichiles see
http://www.inafed.gob.mx/work/enciclopedia/EMM14jalisco/municipios/1403…
There were tribes of Tlaxcaltecas and Otomíes that assisted the Spaniards
in the Chichimeca war and mixed and settled with the local Indians so you
could have a mix.

Armando I agree finding the correct band or tribe is very hard. My paternal line is from Zacatecas and my maternal in Jalisco but in Michoacán before that. I did have the MTDNA test done to see the nationality of my first Mother. It came back haplogroup A and the bands/tribes include Nahua which is part of the Aztec nation. Sadly I have not been able to take it further back then mid 1800's in Michoacán but I will keep looking but on my paternal line in Jerez, Zac I don't think I will ever know the exact Native lines I have.

Yes, Nahua is a UtoAztecan language and mtDNA is found among the Nahua
speakers but mtDNA A is not specific to Nahua, it is found all over the
Americas all the way from Alaska to Argentina. So even though it found
among Nahua it is also found among Mayans, Zapotecas, and Purépechas which
all speak different languages. So you are correct in stating that you might
never know which Native lines you have.
For a list of studies that include mtDNA A see the links at
http://dna-explained.com/2013/09/18/native-american-mitochondrial-haplo…
The following study shows that A1 (A2 descends from A1) exists in Native
tribes from the Tarahumara (Rarámuri) and peaks in the Maya.
http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0044…
A recently published study shows that A2 existed in Argentina in ancient
remains they have found. It probably still does exist there. You can
download the PDF to see the tables.

I come from a tribe that lived in the valleys of southeast part of Zacatecas and northern Jalisco.
They were the Huichols tribe.
Rudy
That is soooo cool Rudy, that you know which tribe you come from. Most of
us can only guess based on where our ancestors lived. In that part of
Zacatecas and Jalisco there were the Huicholes, Caxcanes, Guachichiles and
the Zacatecos who were from Northern Zacatecas.
Thanks for sharing.

yeah i haven't figured out what tribe my native ancestors were from either. in the region my mom's ancestors came from, the main tribes there were huichols, caxcans, zacatecos, and the tlaxacalan colonists.
Thanks Linda Castañon -Long if you like to share with me you info maybe I

That's interesting to know about the Sanchez and the Banuelos. I'm stuck right now, because I haven't found my ggg grandfather's baptismal record, nor his parents' marriage information (not sure where they wed). My ggg grandfather was Jose de la Luz Sanchez Banuelos. His parents were Andres Sanchez and Maria Feliciana (Petronila) Banuelos. I'm not sure if Jose de la Luz was the first born (married 7 May 1818 in Guachinango, Jalisco at age: 36, putting him around 1782, but not sure if he was born in Ameca, Jalisco) or if his sister Maria de San Juan Sanchez Banuelos (born in Villa de Xerez around 1783 according to her marriage certificate of 28 Mar 1808 in Ameca, Jalisco. All of their other sibling were born in Ameca, Jalisco, and I've found all of their baptismal records.

Katy, Juan's raw DNA file was uploaded to Gedmatch, but the email belongs to someone else, and he shows as a match to your mother. If you were to transfer your mother's test to FTDNA you would see Juan as a match your mother at FTDNA and he would see your mother with your email. Your mother would probably also be a match to Joseph. I don't think Joseph has uploaded to Gedmatch.
You would also see a lot of other people from Zacatecas, and nearby, as matches if you were to transfer your mother's results to FTDNA.
Likewise if Linda were to test with FTDNA then she would probably be a match to your mother, Joseph, and to Juan. If she were to upload to Gedmatch she would probably see your mother and Juan as matches.
Juan, if you create an account with www.gedmatch.com then search one to many matches, with your FTDNA account with an F in front of it, you will see Katy's email in the list of matches. You don't have to upload your file since someone else has done that for you.
Armando
i haven't upload her dna to ftdna yet since i don't have the money to do so right now. maybe if my total textbook costs are low(less than a hundred) for next quarter, then i most likely would transfer her results to them.

I want to invite everybody to use de DNA to share information, I think this tool is very useful with people like us that have documented the family tree of our families. The amount of Spaniard were so limited that I am sure that at least an important % of us share a comoun DNA. In a few words we are cousins.
Joseph and I have been tested by familytree DNA and many of us too. We just have to use the tools we have.
well i had my mom tested by ancestry, and i uploaded her rawdna to gedmatch.
i could give you more info on the parents since i'm a decendant of antonia sanchez and antonio banuelos
I saw a general article on the diversity of genetics in Mexico, along with the science article it's based upon. They're interesting reading!
General article:
This is an interesting study. The supplements document can be downloaded
without registering. It's at
http://www.sciencemag.org/content/suppl/2014/06/11/344.6189.1280.DC1/Mo…
Figure S10 shows that the Purépecha and Nahua Jalisco are similar to each
other even though they speak languages from different language families,
Tarascan vs UtoAztecan (see table S1). The Huichol are very different from
Purépecha and Nahua Jalisco even though the Huichol occupy parts of
northwestern Jalisco and Nayarit and the Huichol speak a dialect of
UtoAztecan as do the Nahua Jalisco. Table S1 shows the linguistic families
of each group as well as the region each one inhabits. This goes to show
that DNA and language can be independent of each other because you can have
two different language groups with similar autosomal DNA and you can have
two different autosomal DNA groups that speak the same language.

Mia,
There were in fact members of the García de León who mixed with other caste and did produce mulatos. They continued using their last names, I have also found a couple ilegitimate lines in Aguascalientes, Celaya and Teocaltiche.
Daniel Méndez de Torres Camino
Hi Mia,
Technically, it would not be possible to be an Indio if the father was an español, and fairly unlikely to be a mulato, unless the mother was actually black, but, in reality the colonial caste system was mostly based on appearance and features and not on a thorough investigation into their racial or ethnic background. I'm guessing that your question is related to Toribio García de León. You are correct that he is español, but, if you look at George Fulton's Aguascalientes Matrimonial Information here: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18014
you'll see that Toribio Garcia de Leon married a Mulata named Juana Hernandes, so, although their children should be more accurately classified as Moriscos, any number of other caste labels are possible based on their appearance.
Here is the actual IM for Toribio García de León and Juana Hernandes : https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11671-65970-66?cc=1502404&…
Toribio García de León
Hello Mia :
Indian with a spanish father doesn't exist, he could be mestizo from Spanish
and Indian or mulato from Spanish and Black . So a member of the Spanish
family Garcia de Leon that marry with an Indian or a black woman .
But sometimes Black slaves and Indians servants , like they did'nt have last
names use to take those of the master, so I think you should continue to
look until you find where is the conection with that family in Celaya.
Good luck
Julieta

i was getting ready to index the guadalajara marriage dipsensations for the last part of the 1855 and the link no longer worked.
Hello Katy, It says they are "Having technical difficulties." https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1874591
Last week they had a big crash and even Family Tree Maker wasn't working. I thought it was my computer; I even took it in for service but they couldn't fix it. I saved my tree on another computer and erased the program from my computer then reloaded. Still didn't work. Finally I called their line and there was a recording. Thought me to check before assuming the problem is on my end. Maybe they will upload more files while they are fixing the problem. Deedra Corona
Jalisco church records are back ....

i saw that but i can't change pages
I think it's just the dispensation records; I looked at just a few other Jalisco records, which were fine. I did send them a message, but I have no idea how long it will take for them to fix it.
Rosalinda
The issue with the dispensation records appears to be fixed; I can now advance the images.

Queridos compañeros:
. I read your post with excitement because Roque Gomez and Thomasina Ramirez are very prominent in my tree. This couple did have a son named Nicolas, but he was born in Tecolotlan, 8 April, 1742. I believe the problem is that there are several persons with the name Nicolas Gomez. I hope you agree that we should help each other keep these confusing families straight.
Lic. Nicolas Thadeo Gomez y Aguilar was married 3 times:
To Estefania Fernandez de Monrroy, as you mentioned, on 21 August, 1757:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18377-26959-56?cc=1874591&wc…
This document does mentioned the deceased wife; Manuela Flores, whom he married in Guadalajara on 23 April, 1749.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18380-16944-31?cc=1874591&wc…
This document also mentions a deceased wife: Juana Maria Villasenor whom he married in Cocula 31 January, 1738
your comments are true .about this Gentilmen Nicolas Thadeo Gomez de Aguilar It is very confusing even with documents in hand . what do you suggest ? we can do to structured this unpleasant situation i will be more then glad to help
Sincerly your's Ignacio Anaya Gomez
Saludos Ignacio,
Frankly, I thought for a while before responding the first time because I was afraid my comments would appear condescending; but then I realized that I would hope that others would lead me in the correct direction, as they sometimes have.
The problem, I believe, is that there are so many people with similar or exactly the same names. I think the best we can do is exactly what we are doing: Collaborating with each other. That is why it is so important to investigate, research, remain vigilant, keep an open mind, and share. Forums like Nuestros Ranchos provide us the opportunity to work with each other on this common pursuit.
And the search continues!!!
Deedra Corona
I've found that sometimes it's in the descendants marriage information records that I can put the correct families together especially if there is a marriage dispensation. That's means that it may take up to 4 generations to find the answers we are looking for. The answer is sharing since seldom can one can find all the information alone.

Interesting. There are several pages mentioning the 1736-1738 peste in colonial México. Here are a couple:
