And while I have accomplished much, I still have much to accomplish. It is my hope that others will benefit from this accumulated research and will help me add to it.

It seems through 400 years of research, these people remain in close approximation to where their families have always lived. I found that both interesting and admirable, and only seemed to strengthen my belief of their close family ties. It has also seemed to prove to me that the stories of keeping the bloodlines pure by intermarriages was also true. It has been told to me the Campos family can trace its origins back to Spain. The revolutions brought the Spaniards across the oceans and into Mexico only to steal and plunder the Mexican people of their land, wealth, and heritage. My father begins our American Campos family branch.

Some interesting History

Hello Irma:

Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to me, but who knows some people's reasoning for some things?!

Martin Del Campos?...Where is he from and when was he born and where? Give me some feedback..I come from a very LONG line of "Campos"!!

By the way, Joseph is working on putting my file together for the group to view. It should be available before long. You will see I wasn't KIDDING about my long line!!
REgards,
CarolLester (NanaCarolL@...)

both look great. I found some ranchos on the other that weren't on

I'm adding them to the links file for "Maps."

Hello Jonathan,

Thanks for your insight about this matter.

Do you have an idea what kind of changes are going to be made in the
extraction program in SLC? Are things not moving along fast enough
or something?

Copies of the Parish and Vital Records List

thank you so much for this kind offer. . .

For those considering requesting this highly valuable and info packed
CD i'd suggest that you email him and toss in a little
something for the time, trouble, and cost of mailing. Believe me the
material is well worth a nice offering especially if you are doing
research in other estados of Mejico.

but please do contact him off list at the
email address given in this email below. . .don't just hit reply and
say, "Me too" or "send me a copy as well" or words of that affect.

% of Films Transcribed to IGI

There are a lot of films, that are still waiting to be extracted.
Also, there alot of batch numbers, that are not on the Parish and
Vital Records list.

I am aware, that there are people, who have gotten permission, from
Salt Lake, to extract all the records, from a certain area. I would
assume, that one needs to contact the Extraction Deptment, in Salt
Lake. And from, what I've heard lately, there is going to be some
changes, in the extraction program, later on this year.

thanks,
Jonathan

Poll results for ranchos

okay things are heating up. genealogy is something that happens over a
long time period of time so between now and say Feb 2006 when I
reconsider this topic in the form of another poll maybe we can start
gathering up enough votes to swing the majority in respect to the
percentages I indicated to be a valid vote. Afterall it wasn't like I
didn't give the group a chance to change things. And as for less
strict, hmmm, the axe is still going to swing on about 10 members come
3/15/2005 if I don't at least get the smallest amount of communication.

thanks for your participation. . .i like passion,

I
totally agree with Mr. Duarte. I understand the importance of
documentation but I believe for our purposes that communication is of
utmost importance, all things considered---availability of computers
and software, as well as understanding of genealogy procedures.

Those that have learned to search and document can teach those who
follow. We need more people, not less.

Less strict.

I believe we could get more members, and more
information, if we were less strict on membership.

Madrid and Barcelona

a cousin of mine told me his parents are in Spain on vacation and if I
could think of any family history sources they could pick up in Madrid
or Barcelona. I told him to have them swing by Sevilla to the Archivo de
Indias to get me some Padrones from the Jerez/Colotlan area that are in
that Archive.

So I'm wondering do any of you all know of any archives in Madrid or
Barcelona that possibly would have information on Mexico? I'm sure there
are a lot of sources but I'm so lacking for that specific knowledge I'm
coming to you.

thanks,

joseph

Huerfanos (sp)

I believe that Steve is talking about me . . . I'm researching those areas (Iglesias) and have Curiel as one of the surnames that I'm researching. Funny, but I was actually in the middle of doing my family tree with Family Tree Maker when I read the message. Here are some additional surnames I have come acrossed:

Amera, Arechiga, Ramirez, Rodriguez, Bustamante, Dueñas, Castillo, Caro, Garcia, Lopez, Nery, Ramos, Peña, Robles, Sanchez, Terriquez, & Trejo.

I am also researching my mother's side of the family (Cervantes) as well . . . Her family comes Colima, Manzanillo. I remember locating Angel Cervantes too but we have no connection.

Huerfanos (sp)

Let me invite them so that I'll be the bad guy if they get in a huff
about the two requirements. I had one guy say, "man i didn't know it
was going to be such a hassle." He never got approved.

send me the addresses and i'll send them an invite. If it were me I
wouldn't think about your particular surnames. Just trust that if we
get serious researchers from your particular area that somewhere your
genealogies will cross. I would eliminate those that post messages like
this,

"My mom is from ______ Jalisco. Does anyone have any info? If so please
email it to (email address)."

Go for the ones that breathe intensity and desire to look for their
roots not the ones that want it handed to them on a silver platter.

thanks Steve,

joseph

Huerfanos (sp)

Hey Joseph, I would say I am almost a huerfano. Another member, Angel
Cervantes, and I both have Cervantes ancestors from Zacoalco,
Jalisco, but it doesn't appear to be a connection, at least back to
the 1700's. I saw one group member researching her ancestors from
Atenguillo/Guachinango/Mascota. My Curiel line is from that area, but
unfortunately (or I'd say fortunately), there's lots of Curiel
families in that region.

Other than Angel, and the other member whose name I don't recall, I
am a huerfano. You see, most of my ancestors are from the southern
municipios of Jalisco: Tlajomulco, Chapala, Zacoalco, Techaluta,
Sayula, Amacueca. One line, as I said, is from Atenguillo(If you
don't know where this is, it is close to Talpa, where many people
visit la virgen). I noticed that almost everybody on this group
researching Jalisco is focused on los Altos. So far, I have only one
line of ancestors from los Altos (Lagos), but haven't researched a
lot on this line.

On the genealogy.com and ancestry.com forums, I have seen some people
researching my target area, but not my surnames. So tell me Joseph,
should I invite them to join this group, or should I send you their
email addresses?

Ciao

Steve

well the percentage of members needed to make this a valid vote didn't
vote so I'm leaving things as they are. maybe next year I'll do another

members to vote one way or another.
