José,
My mother's line is the Iniguez I am researching. She once told me her family (the number of people) was not very large and my search so far seems to confirm this.
As regards where was/is the area of Nueva Galicia, John Gonzalez's message fairly well defined the early boundaries of the area.

Yes, Jáuregui is Basque in origin and from what I have found means, Lord/Man of the Castle/Manor.

There is a copy of the book at these places the copies appear listed in the world catalogue as being there) : In Brownsville, TX at Brownsville U. Stanford U. in the genealogical library (CA) At Berkely U. in Berkely, CA At Iowa U., IA Also in the Cal State library system in California Also at Princeton University (New Jersey) The librarian told me that the book is usually in the reference library desk because of what it is. I am interested in the Jauregui, Xauregui, Macias and Yñiguez and more specifically from the Nochistlan/Tlachichila Zac regions as I have all 3 in my or my husband's lines.

Ray; I too am interested about the Iniguiz line. One of my ancestors is an Iniguiz and I know so little about them. Where is Nueva Galicia ? My ancestor (Macias) are said to be from Galicia, in Spain. I presume that Nueva Galicia is in the new world but don't know where.
