Hello group my name is Carol Muro-Turner.  I live in Kansas City and 
have been doing research for about 3-4 yrs.  My father (David Muro) 
and I have gone on this wonderful adventure researching our roots and 
have made pretty good progress.  Hopefully soon we can upload our 
files, we are in the process of grouping our family together.  The 
names we are researching are Muro, Carrillo, Sanchez, Haro, Saldana, 
Marquez, Rodgriguez, De Casas.  I have seen many Muro marriages with 
Puentes, Cortez, Romero, Diaz, etc. The films we have viewed are from 
Colotlan and Santa Maria De Los Angeles, we have started to view some 
films from Villanueva, Zacteucs.  My Muro family is from Sauz de Los 
Marquez near SM and Colotlan.  Our Carrillo's are from Hujecar as well 
as the Sandovals.  

Joseph..you are doing a job keeping us all informed and I appreciate 
your efforts in getting this group together and hopefully we can all 
help each other.

Hello all!

My name is Connie Dominguez and I've just joined the Ranchos Groups. I
look forward to learning a lot and sharing whenever I can.  I have
compiled a lot of information over the past 9 years since I embarked
on this journey...so much so that I can't keep a good handle on it.
Recently, I lost all of my old Word documents (things I'd compiled,
lists, copies of emails & posts, etc.) in a computer crash. A few
paper copies that I had just happened to print out survived. I will
try to reproduce or scan (bit by bit) what I feel might be useful to
the group.  

I began working on my own family tree and slowly began to branch out
to help others. What was once a light hobby became much more. I began
corresponding with many researchers, including some in this group, and
began learning and helping.  I welcomed challenges from fellow
researchers and tried to answer as many as I could. In fact, I began
researching/answering so many requests from others that it's been
years since I've actually worked on my direct family lines.  :-)  

I also began a 'small project' (or so I thought) in an effort to get
the big picture of the founding families of Aguas. I decided to
extract the baptisms, marriages and burials for Españoles from the
parish records of El Sagrario in Aguascalientes, Aguas., for the 17th
century.  (I extracted only Esp. or those having similar names or
mixed marriages only because most designated 'indios' or 'esclavos' in
the books did not carry surnames, and because my lines had previously
been classified as 'españoles'). However, with this extraction came
the tendency to begin linking families and compiling the data.
Eventually, I went back to the beginning and compiled family group
sheets for every married couple and filled in as many children as I
could. I am still in the thick of this process.  I was right...I do
have a much bigger picture of the families of Aguas., but in some
ways it's too big!  I intend to publish this information eventually
and add other compilations I've made in the book's appendices.

I will upload the specific surnames I am researching linked to their
places and times.  Likewise I will try to retrieve posts I may have
added to other lists and post them here if I feel they might be
helpful.  I've added my surname list to the Who's Who section of
this group if you have any questions or can offer any assistance with
those names.

Hello or Holla to everyone,
My name is Hope Carmona Wilson and I am looking for information on my 
gg parents from Mexico. Like so many of us who are American by birth 
and who are searching for history of our past family memebers from 
Mexico,it seems to be like looking for a needle in a hay stack.I am 
very happy to have found you all.The information I am researching is 
for my maternal ggg mother.
Her name was Anselma Rodriguez, born 1860 in Nochitzlan, Zacatecas, 
Mexico.She died and was buried in Teocaltiche,Jalisco,Mexico date?? She 
married Epifanio Ramirez,born 1850(about)His parents were Rogelio 
Ramirez & Estanisla Duran. No other information known. Via FamilyTree 
DNA testing I learned I belong to the HVR1 B GROUP. This is a native 
american group which makes sence since back then, there was no United 
States.
As I learn more information I will be happy to help others in thier 
search.
Again, I am very happy to be part of this group.

Hello everyone. I am George Luna, a recent addition to the ranchos 
group. I started last July researching my family. I knew my 
grandparents names (Casimiro Luna and Maria Marquez) and that one of 
my uncles was born in Juanchorrey. My mother's side of the family
is from El Paso via Chihuahua so I excluded that side of the family 
in my file. Joseph's advice about oral history is great, but in my
case no one (my father and his three brothers and sister) didn't
want to talk about their father when I first got interested in 1973. 
I dropped the subject (a mistake, but I was busy with family and a 
career as a Math professor) until I semi retired (teaching one 
quarter per year). 

My father was born in Taft, California and one brother and sister in 
Arizona and Bakersfield, California, resp. I knew that my grandmother 
and the 5 children were deported to Mexicali in the early thirties 
and that they grew up in Tijuana, BC. My father was working in San 
Diego in 1943 when he was drafted (he was after all a U.S. citizen) 
into the Navy. He served in the Pacific on the destroyer USS Adams. 
He died in 1993. I was born in San Diego in 1940. 

I first found the family in the 1920 census. I also found
Casimiro's parents Macedonio Luna and Secundina Lopez in the same 
census. All were working in San Bernardino on the railroad. Since 
none of that side of the family is in the 1930 census, the online 
search was fruitless. That is when I went to Salt Lake City (I have 
been there three times, a week at a time) and discovered through 
census, baptism, marriage, and death records not only what happened 
to Casimiro and Macedonio (still can't find out about Secundina),
but a pedigree chart  with many de la Torre, Correa , Carlos, 
Gonzalez. I had on my chart a Andres de la Torre and his son Jose 
Maria de la Torre when I connected with the book: José León
Robles de laTorre, Filigranas, Fundaciones y Genealogias, Tepetongo, 
Zacatecas(Torreón, Coahuila: Editorial del Norte Mexicano, 1999). 
Many of the names and fragments coincided with what I had; only the 
Gonzalez portion has discrepancies that I need to check out. In any 
case, at least one direct line has been established to Diego de la 
Torre (born in Spain in 1482) cofounder of Guadalajara, Jalisco and 
first governor of Nuevo Galicia. There is an apt quote by the 
Mathematician Mordell that goes something like "it is the
ignorant 
miner who finds the nugget". 

I apologize for the long post, but I hoped it would explain the 
specificity of my search. I am looking in the Juanchorrey, Tepetongo 
area for: Casimiro Luna, Juana Zuniga, Crescencio Luna, Leopoldo 
Luna, Macedonio Luna, Secundina Lopez, Luisa Correa, Miguel Eusebio 
Gonzalez, Miguel Gonzalez, Ana Maria de la Torre. Maria Rosalia 
Gonzalez, Maria Antonia Valdez, Nicolosa Carlos and anything that 
might connect to the names in the file I posted.
