I would like to thank the people who took the time to answer my plea 
for help. I believe I found a solution to the problem, thanks to
Aajay 
suggestions. I was able to export the file with the ".ged" file 
extension.  When I imported it back, it went to my Ancestry Family 
Tree program which also resides on the same drive.

I went back to the PAF program and was not sucessful in my attempts
to 
start a new file.  It looks like the program itself went belly-up.

I don't have a disk for the PAF program. It was downloaded from the 
LDS web site.(for free)  I am not sure whether I want to use that 
program again or to stick with the old one (AFT).
