area limitation is only to do with discussion about very specific
genealogy information. The information you gave was general and applied
to us all and is very welcome and encouraged. Please bring up general
Mexican History and facts any time you like. Also you can discuss
detailed genealogy about areas outside our target area if you can
relate it to our target area. For example lets say you wanted to
discuss the obispado de Michoacan. . .if you look at the below you will
see that during this time period it covered parts of modern day Jalisco:

there are
probably many many ways we can talk about other areas outside our
target area without delving into very very specific genealogies of
those areas. Also I would not have a problem at all if someone wanted
to ask a general question about another state with the request to
receive replies "OFF-LIST" unless of course the information would be
useful to us all. I don't think this would be a problem but I might
have to back off on this if we suddenly get overwhelmed with
non-Ranchos area emails. . .I can't imagine this happening.
