I think I have found the surname "Si" associated with the my Trejo line -
does anyone know if there was a Chinese influence in Tlaltenango area?

Esta ultima Ines Perez (utilizo apellido de su madre) caso Joseph Ponce el 18 de abril de 1706 en Aguascalientes tuvieron varios hijos entre otros mi antepasada Mariana Perez fallecida 30 de enero de 1748 en Ags. casada con Miguel Martinez de Sotomayor no tengo matrimonio de estos pero la partida de defuncion identifica los padres de Mariana Perez como JOseph Ponce y Ines Perez.

I am about to start an investigation of the QUIRARTE genealogy of
Nochistlan, Zacatecas.
My research pretend to cover to different time lines:
1 - The oldest reference I have is from my grandparents Hermenegildo
Quirarte and Gumara Ruiz.
I have the bautism record of Hermenegildo, from April 13, 1858.. This
Bautism record states his Father was Refugio Quirarte and his mother was
Juana Romo.
From Gumara Ruiz I have not found any record yet.
I never heard about brothers, sisters, cousins or uncles or other close
relatives on the Quirarte side out of a couple of old aunts named Marta Ruiz
and Amalia Ruiz Quirarte.
So I would like to get your advice in how and where to start digging
information.
2 - The second research focus in more recent happenings .
Hermenegildo and Gumara had two daughters and one son. Daughters were Maria
Quirarte Ruiz, Clotilde Evelia Quirarte Ruiz and Cesar Quirarte Ruiz.
Cesar Quirarte Ruiz (my father) was the younger . He was born in 1901 and
was a recognized violinist. He was for manuy years the first violin of the
National Philarmonic Orchestra of Mexico and later Director of the Simphonic
Orchestra of Jalapa, Veracruz .
His sister Clotilde Evelia Quirarte Ruiz was the first women born in the
State of Zacatetas awarded with a Masters and a Doctorate degree. Her
achivements were recognized by the Congress of the State of Zacatecas.
Clotilde wrote several books about the story and language of Nochistlan,
that I would like to find.
The three brothers left Nochistlan very young after the Mexican revolution
ended and settle in Mexico City, where they study and work.
I also have two copies of the Bauptism record of Maria Quirarte Ruiz.
Both with the name of Ma. Raquel Quirarte. One dated 26 Dec 1893 and the
other dated 6 March 1895.
I recall that my father Cesar Quirarte Ruiz told me he has another brother
born and died before he was born.This boy was Christianed Cesar.
So if there were two brothers named Cesar, perhaps they also have two girls
named Maria. Once the first passed away the second was born and also
received the same name of Maria..
My research is motivated by the fact I just discovered that in a small town
close to Nochistlan, named RANCHO ACULCO, the Public pre-school has been
named: Escuela Cesar Quirarte Ruiz.
I want to investigate if the name of the school is related to my father and
if so, why?
I called the Presidencia Municipal and nobody was able to explain me why the
school has that name.
Any help you can provide me in this subject will be very much appreciated.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the group and I am excited to be a member.
I'm looking for any relatives of my Grandfather. Here is what I have so far.
My grandfather is Tiburcio Fernandez Luna. He was baptized on 16 Aug 1885 as Jose Tiburcio De Luna in Adjuntas del Refugio, Zacatecas, Mexico but was born on 11 Aug 1885 in Malanoche, Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. He first married Antonia Hernandez in 1910 and had three children, Euphemia Luna (b. 16 Aug 1915; d. before 1918), Simona Luna (b. 28 Oct 1913; d. 1920 in Texas) and another aunt who is still living. He married my grandmother Vicenta/Vienta Robles on 15 Feb 1918 and they had another 10 kids.
His known siblings are:
(1)Lino Luna (Jose Lino De Luna) born 1882 & baptized on 23 Sep 1882 in La Purisima, Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico. Was married to Estefana Resendes and I believed he died on January 1967 in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas.
(2)Miguel Luna (Jose Miguel De Luna) born on 29 Sep 1892 in Malanoche, baptized on 02 Oct 1892 in Adjuntas del Refugio, Zacatecas. He wife's name was Louisa. Death date is unknown and I don't know if they had any children.
(3)Martin Luna (Jose Martin De Luna) born in 1888 and baptized on 15 Jan 1888 at La Purisima, Valparaiso, Mex. He was married to Josepha Ramos and as far as I know, had 7 children who are still living.
There is a story that there was a sister as well but I have no information on her, no name, birth or death dates. I also know that all four boys came to the U.S. in 1918. All but Lino settled in California. Lino stayed in Texas.
Their parents are Salome De Luna and Monica Fernandez. I have no birth or death dates for Salome but I know his father was Bonifacio De Luna and his mother was Maria Dolores Castro. Monica was born about 1860 and died on 20 Jan 1950 in Bexar, Texas. Her parents were Eugenio Fernandez and her mother was Gerarda Pinedo.

I, too, like Google translator and as George stated, the accelerator is NOT always entirely accurate, but is adequate enough to give you a fair understanding of the translation. Sometimes it comes out really funny! I do understand, speak and write Spanish, however, I do not use the language often enough to always remember or even know the meaning of certain words, and as with all languages, if you do not use it, you will lose it!
The Google translator does not translate very large amounts at one time. I usually do a paragraph at a time. If it does not work, cut the paragraph down some more. Or as George stated, you may want to try a website translation. I have never tried this feature.
There is a tip I would like to share. If you have added the Google toolbar in Microsoft Explorer, you can add the Google translator accelerator by going to the search arrow in that toolbar. You can then highlight a word, paragraph, or page with your left mouse button, and then right-click your mouse button. You will see an arrow on the bottom or top of the highlighted area. Click on the arrow and you will see a menu box to the right. Click on Google Translate and it will take you to a new tab (page). On the left side of that page under Google Translate, change the first box to Spanish (or whatever language you want) and in the second box click English. The translation will be appear on the right hand side of the page. You can then copy and paste the translation to wherever you want. And since it is in a new tab, you can go back and forth to the original document and the translation. A big help when trying to make heads or tails of something you just found! I cannot translate AOL email into Google translate. I just cut and paste when it's not available. I also open an additional tab with word or email where I can deposit the new translation.
Another accelerator I use is the Google maps accelerator. I can highlight the text of most cities and countries, follow the same steps above, but select the Google maps and it will give me a map (also on a new tab) where you can click out to make the map bigger or click in to make it small enough to see the streets in a city. This is a huge help when I am trying to figure out whether my relative's document info is in the right location, or if I am checking the distance between towns and cities. Plus, I often copy the map to add to my document or just print it. Saves a lot of time in not having to pull that map up again later.
To add accelerators in Windows Explorer: Go to Internet Options in the Control Panel. Click on Programs box on top, then click "Manage Add-ons". I also like to use Dictionary.com and have added as an accelerator.
Another tip is one thing I started doing several months ago on Ancestry.com. I copy all the documents I find on FamilySearch.org and paste them directly into the person's profile under "Add Story". This adds everything that is on the document for anyone else who goes into that profile, including the document location numbers that FamilySearch.org gives all their document. This is a huge help to other researchers looking for proof or connections.

Can anyone tell me if Ts in the past looked like Fs sometimes? I've not
noticed it before but then again I don't have many ancestors with surnames
beginning with a T. I've come across an ancestor with what looks clearly
like Falavera, but in a sibling's record is written Talabera. This is from

I don't seem to be able to break any further than what I now have for my
Luna line. I was able to find Maria Trejo's parents (Tomas Trejo and Maria
Espinoza). Might someone recognize these names as their ancestors as well?
Felix Luna and Maria Trejo married 1851… Gregorio Herrera and Fermin
Duran married 1859
Ambrosio Luna Trejo b: 1851 and Patricia Sandoval
Atanacio Luna Trejo b: 1855 and Maria Florencia Herrera Corchado
(I am a direct descendant of this line and have much of the information)
Margarito Luna Trejo b: 1853 and Regina Herrera married in

My great grandfather, Jose Mucio Codina, was ordained to the priesthood in Guadalajara in 1855. I found his ordination documents in the Diocese of Guadalajara eccleciastical records on one of the films from the Family History Library. The records consist of a batch of 26 loose pages related to his ordination requirements.
Several of the documents dealt with Mucio's father presenting three witnesses to his parish priest, each testifying that Mucio met the following criteria:
1. That Mucio was the son of a legitimate marriage.
2. That his parents are from a decent family 'y de sangre buena.'
3. That no one from this generation has descended from Moors.
4. That Mucio's generation did not have any infamous persons.
Mucio Codina served as a traveling priest in the state of Zacatecas for 15 years, after which he got married and moved to Texas. It wasn't until I started doing genealogy research that I discovered that my ancestor had been a priest. I thought I would post this information in case anyone else had a priest in their family tree.

Well, I don´t know which is the appropiate forum to place my request so appologize in advance.
A lady friend of mine was born in Jerécuaro, Guanajuato and needs a copy of his civil born record.
She actually has it but with some mistakes, considered mistakes by the person attending in Registro Civil in Ensenada, Baja California, where she lives, so she is thinking she needs to travel to Jerécuaro, Guanajuato.
The copy she has is old and is handwritten, so maybe the mistakes where made by the person who made the copy from the original.
This are the mistakes so far:
name written as: Ma. de Lourdes Malagón, the surname of the mother is omitted.
a second time her name is written as: M. de Lourdes, letter "a" after M is omitted.
In fact her father´s second name is Mondragón, and all his brothers and sisters are Mondragón except her. The good thing she has not to change it because her father´s second name in such record is written as Malagón, so she is not worried about this mistake.
Jerécuaro is a Municipality in Guanajuato.
What is to do? She hopes to get a fotostatic copy of the original record in the book to check if the same mistakes are in it.
Or she wants to know if there is a person in Jerécuaro who do this job and get and send her a good, and better if digitalized, record.
And if so, how much would be the cost and send the payment instead of traveling from Ensenada to Jerécuaro.

I've just posted a chart with six generations of Moctezuma's descendants, covering the period of about 1468 to the early 1600s. It is in the Files area under my name.
This chart should be considered a work in progress.
I've included only those individuals for which I can find some documented, historical evidence, and when possible, corroborated by more than one source. The basis for this chart is Chipman's "Moctezuma's Children," but with numerous additions.
There is some duplication in the list of Moctezuma's children. From one source (the Codex Chimalpahin), he is said to have had 19 children, but more than this are listed. Some of the daughters listed with both their Nahuatl names and baptismal names, from the sources I have I cannot yet match these together.
Corrections are welcome, as well as additions that can be documented.

Hola a todos los compañeros del foro, me gustaria saber si alguien tiene mas informacion de esta pareja yo desciendo de los Jimenez de castro ya que supuestamente un hijo de esta pareja Antonio jimenez caso en lagos de moreno en 1645 con Maria Lopez de Lara, por unos datos que me paso un primo pero no he podido encontrar la partida de matrimonio, yo desciendo de dos hijos de esta pareja Juan de Dios Jimenez de Castro Casado con Francisca Gutierrez de mendoza y Jose Jimenez de Castro casado maria Gutierrez de Mendoza, de estos matrimonios tampoco tengo documentos solo lo que e encontrado por familysearch, de la pareja de Antonio Jimenez por lo que vi en una publicacion de un periodico de Lagos por internet que se llama AM. dice lo siguiente :
Doña Catalina Mencia Ximénez de Castro desciende del capitán Antonio (El Viejo) Jiménez de Castro, originario de La Rambla en Córdoba, (24) de la provincia de Andalucía España, hijo legítimo de Juan Jiménez y Catalina Ruy. (25) El capitán Antonio Jiménez de Castro el viejo, participó en la pacificación de Nueva Galicia y en 1580 se casa con Fabiana de Urraca y tienen como hijo al capitán Antonio Jiménez de Castro quien se avecinda en la Villa de los Lagos ( este hijo es del cual yo desciendo)
Si alguien sabe algo mas para atraz de esto del lado de Antonio Jimenez Ruy y Los Padres de Fabiana de Urraca que se supone desciende de la reyna Urraca Primera Reyna de Castilla y Leon

Hola compañeros de Nuestros Ranchos, ¿Alguno de ustedes tiene el libro de Thomas Hillerkuss "Diccionario biográfico del occidente novohispano, siglo XVI"? Es que creo que en el dicho libro aparecen mis ancestros Felipe Ortiz y Juana de la Barrera.
Yo desciendo de dicha pareja, pero no he podido seguirles la linea hacia atrás. Ellos aparecen viviendo en Cuquío, Jalisco como en 1710 aprox., pero en algunas actas de matrimonio de sus hijos aparecen como originarios de León, Guanajuato.
Tengo a 5 de sus hijos casados en Cuquío, Felipe, Magdalena, Josefa, Francisca y María. Yo desciendo de Francisca Ortiz de la Barrera, quien casó en Cuquío el 07 de enero de 1721 con Juan Antonio Velázquez Sánchez, hijo legítimo de José Velázquez y Rosa Sánchez, de quienes tampoco he podido seguirles la linea.
Si alguno de ustedes me puede hacer el favor de revisar dicho libro y proporcionarme la información sobre ellos, se los agradeceré mucho.

Muchas gracias por la informacion de Juan de Montoro, y tambien aprovecho para extender las gracias a Bill Figueroa, por su continua generosidad de compartir informacion. Respecto a mi coneccion con Juan de Montoro, aun no lo he podido establecer, pero tengo un par de sospechas. Una de estas es por Antonia Vargas Machuca casada con Nicolas Castaneda, pero aun no he podido encontrar el nombre de sus padres. Antonia debio haber nacido alrededor de 1665. Me pregunto si esta relacionada con Juan Domingo Vargas Machuca y Catalina de Ayala. La otra linea es por Maria de Avila casada con Juan de Montoro III, pero desconosco el nombre de los padres de Maria. Quiza tu o George tengan informacion a ese respecto.
