Muertos, Zacatecas, New Spain

Has anyone ever heard of Muertos, Zacatecas, New Spain? If so what is the current area of Zacatecas closest to this location.

Hi Primo,

I believe it was a ranch near Jerez. There is also another one named Muerto, which is near Tlaltenango and Tepechitlan. This is according to the Cubas site: http://biblio2.colmex.mx/bibdig/dicc_cubas/base3.htm .

I know of a site known as El Muerto in Zacatecas. Whether this is the place you're inquiring about is another question. Look at the Ranchos Archive at our NR website and find the Map dated 1776 of Tlaltenango and surrounding region. Due east of Tepechitlan you'll find El Muerto close to Ojuelos. I found this useful years ago as I had this same question prior to finding this map. I had a relative born there and baptized in Tepechitlan. I could not find the location of this site until I located this map.

Googling El Muerto will point you to another El Muerto appearing close to Fresnillo, Zacatecas.
