So glad to read your message and to know that you're also a Villarreal! Is that your paternal surname?

I still haven't been able to bridge beyond the 6th generation but I haven't exhausted all resources yet.  What I know for sure is that most of my Villarreals are in Nuevo Leon.  How about you?

About Danny, I've contacted him on a couple of occasions via e-mail but still haven't found the common link (if there is one.)  By the way, I have already sent in a DNA sample to be analyzed, but the results won't be back until early March, I hope.  Chances are that most of the Villarreals in Nuevo León are related.  Although I know that even Diego Villarreal, who is one of the earliest Villarreales in Nuevo León originally came from Mazapil, Zacatecas.  So it is possible that there might be a connection between the northeastern and the southern Villarreales.

Just one more thing about Danny; I think he has done a good job encouraging many to do their genealogies and his name database is quite impressive, but I don't share some of his initial assumptions about the origins of the Villarreales, about the coat of arms and some other things.  I rather do my own homework and verify every finding myself, instead of jumping to hasty conclusions based on some vague rumor or anecdote.  :)
