There are two sources of DNA used in forensic analyses. Nuclear DNA (nDNA) is typically analyzed in evidence containing blood, semen, saliva, body tissues, and hairs that have tissue at their root ends. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is typically analyzed in evidence containing naturally shed hairs, hair fragments, bones, and teeth. | |||||||||

the DNA without one of the collection kits sent out with the test. I
might be wrong about this but I think there are more expensive tests
that can be done with hair. Another thing to consider is does your
brother have any male children because you can pick up your dad's side
via his male children and you can get your mom's mom's mom's etc side
via your own MtDNA.
