I've updated my Family Tree Files; all are invited to check them out! Hopefully some "brick" walls will tumble down.
I have a marriage record for Cruz Chaves y Juana Gonzales dated 02 April 1856. It states that Cruz Chaves, single, 22 y/o native and resident of Hacienda de Plateado, legitimate son of Agustin Chaves y Guadalupe Gusman, who are alive... bride: Juana Gonzales, 18 y/o native and resident of the Rancho de la Savor (?) not sure of the spelling of the rancho. Juana is the legitimate daughter of Cesario Gonzales y Maria Demetria Aleman, (alive).
Any help is estabishing the correct name of the rancho, and where it is located would be greatly appreciated.
I have spent years trying to establish the linage of Juana Gonsalez, and I finally believe that her first marriage was to Cruz Chaves in 1856, and that her second marriage was to Juan Corvera/Corbera in 1865.
If I can establish the name of the Rancho, I may then beable to locate Juana's birth record, as well as the marriage record of her second marriage.
Thank You,

Hi everyone, my name is Ruben Marquez and I am currently researching my grandma. I am an amateur I assure you, I seriously cant find any information about her, her kids and where they where at at the turn of the 20th century. The only thing I have found was a birth/death certificate from my Uncle where it states her name and her first husbands name Jesus Montes. The bad part is that it only states 1924 and the birth place of Mezquital, Jalisco, Mexico. The information that I have is bellow. If anyone has found any information during your research and would like to share it would be deeply appreciated! Thanks

Today I was researching my Lizarraga line, and I discovered an interesting entry for my paternal 4th Great Grandfather, Salvador de Lizarraga, married to Maria Rosa de Herrera Anzaldo, on 20 Oct 1748 in Ixtlán del Río, Nayarit. The matrimonio record includes the following: "...vecinos de los ranchos de esta jurisdicción
El Morisca". In addition below my grandfather's name in the margin of the page is the entry, "El Morisco", or "Morisco".
My Velázquez dictionary reads: Morisco: a. Moorish, belonging to the Moors. 1. Name given to the Moors who remained in Spain after its restoration. 2. (Mex.) Quadroon. (The "Quadroon" dictionary definition, of course, is an "hijo de blanco y mulata o de muluto y mujer blanca".
I had never to date in my family research seen this racial designation. So I am wondering is it more commonplace than I believe? I would be interested in your thoughts.
Thank you.

Has anyone heard of this place - Feligresía de Villita? (Ags marriage
record dated 1874, birthplace of spouse). From context I presume it
was in Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, or Jalisco. And perhaps it could be
intended to mean "Feligresía de la Villa de Aguascalientes", but
that's a bit of a stretch. I found numerous Villitas in Ags, Zac, and
Jalisco but most of them were ranchos or other small entities and I
can't decide which of them, if any, may be part of a parish or
feligresía of the same name.
Incidentally, the record in question refers to persons who also lived
in Letras, so I presume that unless they travelled far, Feligresía de
Villita must have been not too far from Letras.

Group Help on Methodology Required,
I need to know the correct methodology because for the first time I'm researching surnames that are plentiful: Sepulveda and Morales. And to complicate things, these surnames intermarried alot in the same time periods and locations.
From film research, this is the last thing I am certain of:
Maria Luisa Sepulbeda married Juan Fermin Santelices
02/27/1793 in Dolores Hidalgo, GTO
Her parents are named: Gregorio Sepulbeda and Manuela Morales.
I can't find either definite baptismal entries, so I go their marriage.
I found a Joseph Sepulbeda married Ma Manuela Morales 12/07/1774 in Snta Barbara, Chichuachua.
A Joseph Sepulbeda married Ma Barbara Morales 07/08/1777
in Chichuachua, Chichuachua.
A Valentin Sepulbeda married Ma Eulogia Morales 10/04/1756
in Cuidad Victoria, Tamauliapas.
My immediate reaction was to go with the first couple because it's the best match, but am I correct in assuming this? It didn't specifically mention Gregorio, just Joseph Sepulbeda, but knowing how interchangeable they were with their names, on the other hand, it did have Ma Manuela Morales.
When is enough evidence, enough. Or how would you suggest finding more to support my assumption. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Alice
Off the top of my head, I am looking for the parents of my ggggrandmother,
Urzina Hernandez. She was probably born in the 1830's or 1840's as she is the
second wife of Cayetano Borjon who was born in abt 1825. I am related to the
following families from this area: Borjons, Rincons, de Leons, Guererros, Ricos,
Montellanos, Betancourts, Arias',Mesas,Lunas, Garcias, Mergils, Buenos,
Magallanes',Amaros, Gonzalez',Hernandez',Carrillos, Laras, Villavencencios,
Amayas, Santos', Roldans, and last but not least Barrios'. I believe she may
have been born in Sauceda, Zacatecas or San Mateo, Zacatecas. I have checked
LDS listings but have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions on how to continue
when one has hit a brick wall?
Thank you for your interest.

Hi all -
I have adding the census taken in 1679 in Jalostotitlan & San Juan de los Lagos, Jalisco. It also contains records for families living in seven other pueblos in the surrounding area, most notable for their indigenous population.
LINK: http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/18950
I extracted the pages from the book titled "Historia de Nuestra Senora de San Juan de Los Lagos," which was published in Mexico in 1903 and is available at books.google.com. I though it would be convenient to post only the pages that contain the census.
It is hard to find ancestors unless you already have a substantial database of family groups with names from that period. I found it useful in confirming marriages and mother-father relationships that I had suspicions about, but had no concrete proof.
Please note that the letters "esc." after a name designates "slave/esclavo(a)" - kind of hard to take, but that's the way things were in those days. The census was finalized on May 6 of 1679.
Happy hunting.
The website address is www.Geneall.net. I have used this website for years when researching my Portuguese ancestry.
Once on the main page of Geneall I selected Espanol, by clicking on Base de Dados, on the left hand side of the page, one will find a listing of all the names that appear.
I tried searching for the Gonzalez surname that John mentioned and I came up with hundreds of individuals with Gonzalez surnames.

I am absolutely NOT posting an ad. I was merely posting an inquiry to my fellow genealogists as to the validity of this site.
As I mentioned before, I stumbled across it by accident and thought it was too good to be true. It seemed extremely easy (too easy), yet beneficial. Being the skeptic that I am, I was hoping to gain some feedback from anyone that might have used the site before offering any of my own research.

I began researching my ancestry at the Family History Center of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I know all my grandparents names and birthdates. But I was interested in tracking my paternal grandfather and also knew the name of my great grandfather which helped.
I found my grandfather's baptismo in the archives and instantly gave the names of his parents and grandparents.
When I did my research, I would spend Wednesday nights and Saturdays scrolling through rolls of films and backtracked to around the 1720's.
But that was back in the 90's when there was no internet and no website like this to meet other people to share information.
I have not done any more scrolling through films lately.
I also want to mention, I have a loved one that worked in the Archives of Zacatecas, Mexico. She told me that some people would steal some of the books or rip out pages.
Watch out for treasure or relic hunters

Below are the entries from Geneanet on my Olague ancestors from Zacarecas. All nine trees were posted by Salvador Cabral, a member of this group and the one who was instrumental in helping me build my tree where we share many common ancestors from way back.
I had to scroll past a long blank space to get to these results. Don't know why that is.

John, I found the above results for trees and Misc Online Data in Geneanet for Gonzalez surname. Didn't you say that you didn't find anything on Gonzalez in Geneanet? You have to enter the surname AND a place, then scroll down past a long blank space to the bottom to see the results.
When I typed in "Jalisco" as the place, I found hundreds of trees and other resources for Gonzalez.

I just stumbled across this website while doing some research. Has anyone else used it before?
It was a simple process of signing up for a free account (of course, premium services are also available) in order to access trees of other members. So far, I have found a large amount of information that pertains to my family line. It takes a while to learn your way around, but it seems easy enough to use. I haven't yet done so, but you are also able to share your family tree with other genealogists.
Any comments would be appreciated, especially from those who have used this site before.
