> Hi Nena (Maria Elena),

It looks like your Diego Delgadillo is the son of our Diego Delgadillo.
According to my database I was showing 8 children born to Diego Delgadillo
and Petrona de Yslas. In order of birth: Mariana 1655, Thomasa 1657 (my
ancestress), Bernardino 1659, Juan 1668, Catarina 1670, Maria 1672, Agustin
1674, and Christobal 1677. As you can see, there is a gap between
Bernardino and Juan where Diego fits in quite nicely. I looked him up on the
IGI and it did show that he was the son of Diego and Petrona. I have just
added your Diego to my database.

Is this Diego your direct ancestor? If so, we are cousins once again!

Diego Delgadillo is the brother of my direct ancestor, Juan Delgadillo de Islas (same parents, Juan Delgadillo and Maria Concepcion de Islas). Juan was born about 1630 in Nochistlan. ¡Hola prima!

Comment

Maria,
Diego Delgadillo is the 6th great-grandfather of my paternal grandfather Rafael Gutierrez-Martin (Via Petronila Delgadillo).

Thank you for the information and please let me know if there is anything you need be to look up on my Family Tree Program.

Hi Maria,

Our Nochistlan family is growing...
I have a couple of questions/comments:

1. I cant' locate a Maria - 1672, what was your source for that info?
There's a Maria Ysla 8 Dec 1672 Nochistlan, parents: Pedro Gaspar y
Petrona De Ysla, is that the record you used?
2. I have a Catalina - 1666 source: F868326, will you please take a look at
that one, and see if it's the same as Catarina 1670?
3. I have a Juana, married to Lorenzo Alvarez Tostado. Her parents noted
on this marriage record --> 8676301 (these batch numbers are getting
strange, no letter, just 7 numbers. I think this has something to do with
what Joseph had shared earlier.
4. Thank you for Bernardino, Agustin and Christobal, I didn't have them.

Hi Deena,
Once again, thank you for your help. I was just reviewing some of our old
e-mail exchanges, and couldn't believe my eyes, some were dated 2002... how
time flies.
You have been a wonderful source of information, that has lead to the
linking of many Rancho members. ;-)
You have 19 children listed for Diego Delgadillo y Petrona De Ysla... it's
no wonder that we're finding so many links to this family.
I've updated my database, with your reference notes below.

Hi Pat,

Yes, it certainly is growing. I added Juana to my database thanks to the
info you provided. My source for Maria is batch #K600711. She is listed as
the daughter of Diego Delgadillo and Petrona de Ysla.

If you look in the same batch you'll find a Catalina, daughter of Luiz
Delgadillo and Josepha de Ysla. This Catalina was christened on 5 May
1672. Catalina/Catarina was often used interchangeably, so it's possible
that source you cited is for Diego's Catarina and not the other Catalina.
That source is a patron submitted record. I have found errors in some of
them, so be careful. I tend to scrutinize those more closely than the
regular extractions done by the volunteers. The person submitting that
record could've mistakenly linked Catarina to the wrong set of parents. We
would need to see the original source to be certain.

Hi Maria,

This is wonderful, but I'm losing track of all our "primas/primos," that
share common ancestry from Diego Delgadillo. Would be nice if a separate
posting/file existed indicating the line of descent for each member that
links with this ancestor.
Thank you for the "heads up," about the patron submitted records on
familysearch.org .
