"Rangel" surname of Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico????

I have seen someone from Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico with the surname "Rangel."

Does that go far back to the colonial days of Mezquitic and is that spanish?

I would assume that the majority of the Rangel's descend from the conquistador Alonso Rangel de Loaiza who came from Spain in the early part of the 16th century.

I descend from Jose Romo de Vivar who founded the town of Bacanuche in Sonora, Mexico. Recently I found a researcher who suggested that Alonso married Luisa (Lucia) Velasquez (Fernandez) de Salazar, and they had a son, Juan Rangel Peguero who married Maria Rosales. Do you have this information or the sources of the above. If so, I would appreciate that help and information. Thank you in advance.

I know my mom had cousins with that last name, she used to mention her cousin Salvador Rangel, but I don’t know how far back that name goes. I haven’t been able to make a connection. My mom was Pacheco Sanchez from Mezquitic.
