Okay the first step is to have the Address to the Family Search website:



http://www.familysearch.org



once there we're going to have a look around and see there is a gold mine
of Genealogical information on the site. But today we're going to get specific
in what we're trying to do and that is find info on Jamay, Jalisco and where
"my local Family History Center is."



First of all I don't know where you live so I'll just show you how to use
the site so you can find the closest one.



After you bring: http://www.familysearch.org  up go to the right side of
the page and click on "Library."  Then click on "Family History Centers."
and fill in the info and hopefully there will be one close to you. Most larger
communities have them as there are several many hundreds or even thousands
around the states.



okay now back to how to find the Jamay info. Okay you can get back to the
home page and then click on "Library" again then click on "Family History
Library Catalog."  From there on this page you'll see the bars on the right
click on the "Place" one. Then you enter Jamay and it will take you to some
choices. pick Jamay Jalisco and then click on Census if you want to look
at that info or on church records if you want to find that info. (Note up
at the top there is place you can click to "View Film notes" click this to
see what films are available for those areas).



>From the lists of films available you pick out the films that you think might
reveal info about your family. For example. You say your mother in law was
born in Jamay in 1939. I'd think that the Census Film that Patricia mentioned
would have her parents on it or other relatives but more specifically the
film "Bautismos de hijos legítimos
1934-1940 -  VAULT INTL Film [ 281866 ]" would or should or
possibly could include info on her, her parents and maybe (maybe not) her
grandparents. Info can be found also on the Padrinos and the name of the
specific rancho she was born in and maybe the time and day of birth. If you're
like me once you get your first piece of info you'll be seriously hooked
and keep hunting for more and more info.



But to access that film number you'd need to take that info to your local
Family History Center and order the film which can take 4-6 weeks to arrive.
The cost is 3.25 plus .25 shipping for the first 30 days rental. If you find
this is not enough time you pay an additional 3.25 for 60 more days and then
to put it on permanent hold at your library its an additional 3.25. (NOTE:
These films cannot be taken out of the library and have to be view on the
premises).
