Santelices in Zacatecas

Arturo,
Thank you so much. Agustina Santelices was my grandmother, and this incident is indicative of the elusiveness I've encountered tracing her family. It's interesting that this unknown procurador Santelices and Agustina's father, Francisco Santelices's Panuco marriage are the only Santelices mentioned in relation to Zacatecas. Most Santelices are either from DF or Puebla. A handful are found in GTO and Queretero. Would this procurador have been living in Zacatecas or been making his recommendation from DF? Your knowledge and opinios are greatly appreciated. Again, Arturo, thank you so much for all that you do. Alice

I begin to write a summary of the the San Sebastian Feast, but my attempts to describe it could not do it justice to the essence of the feast. Instead, I suggest you go to the link above which describes in Spanish the Feast, its origin and the devotion of the people in Nochistlan.

Accessing Senores de Zacatecas

Arturo,
I really hate to bother you again, but I'd really like to read the Los Senores list. After I follow your instructions to Daniel and click the nuestros ranchos user's guide, the same thing happens when I click the second volume of Los Senores. A small icon at the bottom left says it is downloading from site, but where is it? Nothing appears before or after the downloading asking whether I want to open, save, etc. Please, what am I doing wrong.. Thank you so much, Alice -- arturo.ramos2@gmail.com wrote:

Volunteers needed to finish Nuestros Ranchos User Guide

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, we got the Nuestros Ranchos User Guide started and about halfway finished last summer. The project has been sitting gathering dust and I would like to get it completed as I think it will be very useful for the new members who are not familiar with all of the functions of the site. There is a Spanish and an English version. The outlines are finished, they just need to have meat put on the bones (along with some screen prints). Please let me know if you can help...

Espazo in a baptismal document

I have the listing of racial descriptions, but I have just found a description that I do not have referenced and could not find a translation out on the Internet. Is anyone familiar with the term "Espazo." It is the racial description on the baptismal document of Serapia Ledesma Baldivia born September 8, 1832 in San Miguel El Alto, Jalisco. Any help would be appreciated.

Many in the group have already complied, but many have not. If you've
already submitted your genealogy just relax. . .you're a life member of
the Nuestros Ranchos group.

For those that haven't submitted their work I get a little nervous when

Familysearch Indexing of Digitized Films

In case you didn't know, the LDS project for digitizing films is going much faster than anyone expected. They have now begun projects where volunteers can extract documents online using special software that you can download. I did it tonight just to see what it was like and it is amazingly simple to do. It looks like it is mostly the 1900 census for the moment. I think this has to do with the standardization of the documents which makes it possible for volunteers with minimal or no training to find the information and enter it correctly.
