Estimados colegas,

There is a John Reyes who is not a member who wants to know who posted the genealogy of his family on the website. Does anyone want to take credit for posting the genealogy of "Geronimo M. Reyes"? I would like to put you and John together as you are probably cousins. But I can't seem to find a message with that title "Ancestors of Geronimo M. Reyes". Maybe its there and I just didn't find it yet so if anyone else with better tech savy would help that would be also welcome.

Does anyone have information on sisters Nicolasa Vásquez (d. c1735) and Melchora de los Reyes alias Vásquez (b. c1649), of Santa María de los Lagos?
According to the dispensa matrimonial de Marcos de Espitia, cited (but not transcribed) on his wikitree entry, Nicolasa Vásquez and Melchora de los Reyes alias Vásquez (8th gr-grandmother), of Santa María de los Lagos, were (half?) sisters:
Nicolasa Vásquez (d. bef1735) - Espanola -1- Melchora de los Reyes (b. bef1649) - Mestiza
m. Antonio de Quezada - Espanol m. Antonio Santoyo alias Pérez (b. c1635) - Mestizo
Anastacia de Quezada (b. c1715) - Espanola -2- Teodora Pérez (b. c1670)
m. Marcos de Espitia (b. c1710) - Castizo m. Andrés de Espitia (b. c1665)
-3- Nicolás de Espitia (b. c1685)
m. Teresa Josefa López Lizalde (b. c1685)
-4- Marcos de Espitia (b. c1710) - Castizo
m. Anastacia de Quezada (b. c1715) - Espanola
Nicolasa Vásquez was born before c1685 (her first known child was born about 1700), and sister Melchora de los Reyes was born before c1650 (her first known child was born about 1665).
That's about a 35 year age gap, so maybe they are half-sisters?
I'm scouring birth, marriage, death records and the padrons but so far cannot find their parents.

Pedro Hernándes (d. bef. 1610) & María Rubio of Lagos are 11th gr-grandparents through son, Miguel.
Does anyone know much about the early (pre-1600) Hernández-Rubio Family in Lagos?
Thank you,
Travis
Does anyone know why we can't access the 1930 Mexico census on familysearch?
As I have shared in other media, a Toribio Hernández de Arellano from Salamanca is documented, whose brother Sebastián initiated litigation concerning his nobility on May 15, 1557. Following Sebastián's death in 1568, his widow and children continued the legal proceedings. Significantly, the presence of the Sánchez surname within their lineage may account for its recurrence among Toribio's immediate descendants.
Sebastián Hernández de Arellano "El Viejo" was a resident of the parish (colación) of San Isidro in Salamanca. He held estates (hacendado) in the municipalities of Villares de la Reina, Castellanos de Moriscos, and Villamayor. He initiated a lawsuit to assert his noble status (hijodalgo) after being appointed to the position of procurador, an office typically associated with commoners (pecheros), which he argued was incompatible with his noble standing.
The relevant legal file (Sala de Hijosdalgo. Caja 0774.0035. Real Chancillería de Valladolid) records testimony stating that Sebastián was married to Isabel Rodríguez and was the father of Antonio, Jerónimo, Sebastián "El Mozo", and Luisa (PARES | Archivos Españoles, to request the file, follow the link and email the Real Chancillería de Valladolid).
His parents were identified as Sebastián Hernández (arrendador), and Águeda Sánchez, both of whom were described as being of noble origin.
His paternal grandfather was Luis Hernández, a resident of Santiuste street in Salamanca who also maintained a residence in Villamayor. In both jurisdictions, he was exempt from taxation due to his "notorious nobility" (notoria hidalguía) and held the offices of sexmero and alcalde de la Santa Hermandad. Luis Hernández was married to Isabel Sierra.
His great-grandfather was Marcos Hernández, a doublet-maker (jubetero) married to Francisca Sánchez, both residents of Salamanca. Contemporary witnesses noted that they comported themselves in the "manner of nobles and dressing as such" (hábito y maneras de hidalgos). Marcos Hernández was of Vizcaíno origin and was sometimes referred to as Marcos Vizcaíno.
Sebastián Hernández de Arellano "El Viejo" had several siblings: Catalina Sánchez de Arellano (also known as Catalina Rodríguez de Arellano), who was married to Juan Rodríguez, syndic (síndico) of the monastery of San Francisco; María Sánchez de Arellano, married to Andrés González; Francisco Hernández de Arellano and Toribio Hernández de Arellano. This Toribio coincides in chronology, geographical association, and patronymics with the individual of the same name, though a definitive identification cannot be asserted without further evidence, such as his last will and testament from Nueva Galicia. It is documented that a Toribio Hernández de Arellano departed for the Indies in 1549 (PARES, having obtained a license issued in Valladolid by officials of the Casa de la Contratación in Seville) and that he is named in a partition of inheritance (hijuela) in Salamanca alongside his siblings. These individuals constitute the known members of the Hernández de Arellano family from Salamanca.
Notably, the document in question omits any reference to the origin of the Arellano toponym. However, I have a hypothesis that I am currently working on.
Best regards,
Erik Andrés Reynoso y Márquez.
Hello everyone,
I was organizing and going over some documents I have. One of these I came across had some information on Alonso Cornejo, which is titled Familia Paterna y Materna de Sor Juana: hallazgos documentales, by Guillermo Scmidhuber of the University of Guadalajara. He delves into the Cornejo family, specifically Alonso Cornejo.
A Cristóbal Joseph Gomez Cornejo, on 10 June 1758 solicited documents of relation in reference to the Cornejo Ramirez family. It references a document from the 18th of November, 1676 that was prepared for the family of Joseph Cornejo Ramirez. The author notes a petition which deals with the genealogy of the Cornejo family. In said document, a witness testified that Capt. Fernando Gordíbar Osorio was the paternal grandfather of said Joseph Cornejo, for which this information is provided, and he (Gordíbar Osorio) was a descendent of the first conquistadores.
The publication also notes baptisms of some Alonso Cornejo’s children. On p.74 it discusses the baptism of a daughter named Micaela with woman named Francisca Rodriguez (not his known wife Juana Inés Ramirez de Santillana). The author thinks it could be a second wife. This was recorded on 23 September 1652. I was previously unaware of a Francisca Rodriguez and daughter Micaela. I found the document on Family Tree and attached it to Alonso Cornejo.
I have added the above mentioned docs in my files. There is so much more to discover about Alonso. I hope to also find more information on Fernando Gordíbar Osorio as well, who I have not been able to find much on.

My Spanish is not sufficient to understand what the priest is saying within the parenthesis so any help understanding what is being said here would be very much appreciated.
