Hello everyone:
As this finding gives or brings direct connection to Europe at The Reinos De Castilla I thougth maybe somebody in the group could be interested.
Hola Leticia,

I have just gotten a copy of this dispensation, which is now online at Family Search (Guadalajara, Diocese of Guadalajara, Matrimonios 1664-1730, film #167982, beginning at image 488).
The dispensation is for the impediment of affinity in the third degree, not consanguinity, so there is no blood relationship between Juan de Ornelas and Leonor de Robalcava. The relationship is one by marriage, through Sebastian Peres.
The dispensation is confusing as written. What I believe the relationship is:
Juan de Ornelas is the son of Beatris de Lopez
Beatris Lopes is the daughter of Maria Lopez
Maria Lopez is the sister of Sebastian Peres (who is the former husband of Leonore de Robalcava and is the uncle of Beatris Lopez).
The statement of the witness Rodrigo de Olibara is as follows:

Hello Research,
Many of the strange and frustrating problems at FamilySearch are the
result of heavy traffic. In my area, Sundays are the worst. Sometimes
I just give up and try again another day, or at 4 in the morning -
then everything works fine.

Hello,
I am looking for a baptismal record for Maria Valentina Barrientos/varrientos Gonzales (1819). My search has brought some questions to mind.
Dear Monica,
From early medieval times up to the Reformas Borbónicas (late XVIII century) the custom of surnames did not include a definite rule or order. A person could technically pick whichever surname he chose or deemed worthy of his/her benefit. This was based on persona preference. Often, woman took on maternal names, while men took their father’s; some examples include Alonso Guerra Valadés & Juan López de Elizalde who took on their mother’s names, but was not always the case.
Other times, children took on grandparent’s name for example if they were a namesake or they could choose a surname of an illustrious ancestor. This often occurred with the nobility, titled, untitled hijosdalgos and mayorazgos that often “forced” the possessor to carry down the name. Many times, within the same family this would occure. If Pedro Rodríguez de la Vera married Ana Gómez Pérez de Escalante and had seven children were born into this union. Four of the kids would use

I have found errors made by transcribers and some make by the Scribe himself. A good example is finally finding my 5th GGrandmother Maria Antonia Gomez Hurtado de Mendoza with the transcribed name of Gonzales Hurtado de Mendoza. Makes research quite challenging.
You are correct. I have also found that corrections are not made when reported. Maybe they could adopt the Ancestry.com method of allowing you to list the alternate name/date/spelling/whatever along with the original information. It would at least give us a clue that there is a possible error in the report.

Fortunately for me, the error I found was not one of my ancestors. Someday, there is a chance that someone else will be looking for that person and they may not be able to find them. Too bad we can't correct it.

Dear Nuestros Ranchos,
I have been able to actually print a LDS film document using a Screen Print
method, but it seems rather involved.
Screen Print Key hold down for a count of 4 --> Open Microsoft Paint -->Click Paste in Paint drop-down-->Save to disc--name document & change file to jpg --> Save to my picture library ----> then open picture library program, locate document and print...
It actually prints out the one document that I had selected from the 2 pg
image on the LDS film.
I can read it...but as I noted above it's a rather long process.
I would appreciate hearing from list members that have come up with a method of printing with
less steps, and which mirrors what we were able to do before... the click one button print key procedure...
I have installed FireFox Mozilla. I have Window 7 as my operating system program. My ISP is Comcast.

Thank You,

Family Search told me I couldn't use their print function. They said to save the whole image and then use my computers photo managing system to open, crop and print.
What I do is Save the image, then find the image in my files, then open it, then go to Microsoft Tools and choose Microsoft Office Picture Manager. From the top menu on the screen, choose Picture, then when that menu comes up, choose Crop and you will see "handles" on the corners of the image. Move the handles to encase the portion of the image you want to print. On the right side you will see a box with Crop, Crop Settings, Crop Handles, and Picture Dimensions. Click on Picture Dimensions after checking that the number of pixels is high enough to ensure your image will print out very clearly---the more pixels, the sharper the image will be, then click OK.
Then go to File on the top of the screen and click Print. That will open up the Photo Printing Wizard. I choose the Full Page Prints and

George,
Among the indians who allied with Cortes in the conquest of Tenochtitlan, there is Don Sebastián Hernández del Aguila, tlaxcaltecan chief (cacique) who retained his nobility title after the conquest. One of his descendants, Don Diego Hernández de Aguila, founded the town of Nuestra Señora de Moya in the vicinity of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, on February 19 1709,. Another interesting family was that headed by Don Matías Saucedo y Moctezuma, Captain of the Chichimecan Frontiers, who after some confrontations with Don José Rincón Gallardo, was granted some land by this landowner in the area of El Mezquital or Xonacatique and the town of "Jesús María de los Dolores", known today as "Jesús María" was founded. The 'Archivo Historico de Aguascalientes' includes documents of the Saucedo y Moctezuma family, where they are always identified as indians and referred to as 'Don'. I am not sure what is the relationship of Don Matías to Emperor Moctezuma, or to the other 'Moctezuma' (e.g

Estimado Roberto,

Puedo contactarte directo a tu correo electronico?
Gracias,

In your notes some of the records are marked with * and others with **
Do these have some significance from the record, or are they personal notes?

Hi George. The single asterisk marks attention to where a family tree or definition of kinship is found in the record; a single or double asterisk in the absence of such tree or definition, marks a personal note relating to my interest and research.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. The single asterisks are helpful!
I have found the artwork and design of some of the family trees quite interesting. It is so easy to get involved in all the names and dates, and not "look" at the documents as a whole. Sometimes the handwriting is very interesting. It is especially nice to find a document where one of our ancestors actually signed it. The ornate signatures of some of the notaries also adds interest to the document.

Decades ago I made a word file on an old Apple IIC of hundreds of names and births, parents, etc.from a microfilm. Back then there weren't ged com files or I wasn't aware of them.
Try the following:
http://www.tedpack.org/text2ged.html
If you do a google search for "convert ext to gedcom" a number of other options come up.
While I have never done this specifically, I have edited gedcom files with a text editor to remove extraneous material. As long as you are careful, it works; if you aren't careful, the file can be damaged. Make sure you have a back-up of the file before saving the changes!

Thanks for the info! I have been so busy with searches through the microfilms, I haven't had a chance to give it a try.
Has anyone actually gone down to Aguascalientes to see what they can dig up on Petronila Moctezuma?
She is my number one interest historically, and genealogically. And I think she is the same for a lot of others.

Aguascalientes (Matrimonios 1721-1736 Image 150/253). Juana era hija de
padres no conocidos. Para mayores detalles ver Informaciones Matrimoniales
1731-1732 Image 414/527. Ambos pretensos declararon ser vecinos de
Aguascalientes.

Muchas gracias y saludos.

I located a proposed marriage for Thomas Romo de Vivar; HL of Maximo?
Many thanks to Bill, Daniel, and George for helping resolve the mystery. This document was so interesting because it appears Juana Peres was so well respected by her husband's family that they were even willing to give testamony so she could remarry. Sounds like a good novela!
Deedra Corona
I believe the father of Thomas is Diego Romo de Vivar, and not Maximo. On the first page, part of the name is not visible on the image which makes it difficult to read, but I think it says Diego.
In the second image, in the "Declarasson del contrahente" it says, in part, "que se llama Thomas rromo de vibar y que es natural de esta villa y su pe [padre] se llama Diego rromo de bivar y su me [madre]Luisa de los angeles"

Dear Deedra,
Miguel Ruiz de Esparza was one of Lucas Ruiz de Esparza's cousins. At the time there were two primos named Miguel Ruiz de Esparza, on was son of Andres Ruiz de Esparza and Catalina Gutierrez de Bilbao and the other was s/o Ignacio Ruiz de Esparza and Elena Lopez. We cannot determine which one was in this document as a witness, but we do know it is one of those two.
Thanks for sharing this document!
Daniel Mendez Camino
Hello Deedra,
Lucas Ruiz de Esparza, first husband of Juana Pérez Calvillo, was the son of
Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza and Catalina Lozano de Frías. Christobal Ruiz de
Esparza was his brother. Christobal married Antonia de Alvarado y López de
Elizalde. They are my 6th ggrandparents. I'm still looking for the parents
of Juana Pérez (aka Juana Pérez de Cubillos, Juana Galindo) who married
Thomas Romo de Vivar on 21 May 1687 after her husband died. Thomas Romo de
Vivar was the son of Diego Romo de Vivar and María Luisa de los Angeles de
los Reyes, married in México City ca. 1650.
BILL FIGUEROA
Hello Bill,
This sparked my interest. I also do not have the parents of Juana Perez Calvillo or Galindo as sometimes she was stated as. I had her as daughter of another set of parents, but the timeline does not fit. Based on the timeline she could be daughter of Capt. Joseph Martinez or Perez Calvillo and Magdalena Gomez, originarios of San Felipe Guanajuato, but we need to find a document that leads us in that direction. I find that this family can be at times difficult to follow since some used Perez Calvillo, Martinez Calvillo, Martin Calvillo, Calvillo.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza also appears as Bernardo Salado or Bernardo Salado de Esparza. In various death, baptismal and marriage records some of his children namely Cristobal, Nicolas and Lucas appear as Salado-Esarza or Salado de Esarza, one time even Salado Ruiz de Esparza. A granddaughter of Bernardo, Gertrudis Salado married Eugenio Martinez Calvillo on 22 Mar 1692 in Aguascalientes, s/o Juan
Daniel,
In your posting of 31 Oct 2011 you said "I have a question regarding another Tomas Romo de Vivar married to Maria de Espinosa d/o Joseph de Bohoquez y Espinosa and Ana de Morales Biedma. They had Ana Romo de Vivar married Juan Prieto Gallardo on 3 Dec 1691 in Aguascalientes. I have not found the identity of Tomas Romo de Vivar's parents? Do you have any clues. He seems to be an early Romo de Vivar, either a son or grandson of the patriarch."
You have confused two brothers, Tomas Romo de Vivar who married Juana Perez Calvillo, with Ignacio Romo de Vivar who married María de Espinosa. They were both sons of Diego Romo de Vivar and Maria Luisa de los Angeles de los Reyes. Maria de Espinosa (Maria de Bohorques) was the daughter of Joseph de Bohorques and Ana Ruiz de Esparza (aka Ana de Morales). Ignacio Romo de Vivar married María de Espinosa in Aguascalientes 27 May 1670. The marriage record includes the names of their parents (Matrimonios 1663-1678, Image 34/71).
BILL
Bill,
Thank you for clarifying this. I’m going back through all my records and trying to fix, clean and link any other people I might have forgotten.
