Si me ayudó.
Tambien me faltan

Gabriel Gallegos y Juliana Gutierrez Guerrero.
Amador.

Hola Armando, e puedo ayudar.

Aguascalientes. Eran hijos de Gabriel Gallegos y Juliana Gutierrez Guerrero
Sebastian Macias Valadez y Josepha Dominguez.

Armando -

I can't help with any specifics on the names you give but I can tell you
that I came across a book on Borderlandsbooks.com that has been helpful to
me with my research.
The title is "Bautismos, Matrimonios y Defunciones, en el Primer Siglo de
Santa Maria de los Lagos". As the title infers it is a transcription of the
baptismal, marriage, and death records that exist for the first century of
its existence. The book is in Spanish and it predates the individuals that
you are looking for but the surnames you mentioned appear repeatedly so it
may behoove you to get a copy of the book.

Constancia

Is anyone familiar with, or have information on a factory in Durango
state named 'Constancia' around 1900?

According to this webpage, there was a German textile factory established in 1876 in La Constancia, in the municipality of Nombre de Dios, Durango:
http://www.e-local.gob.mx/work/templates/enciclo/durango/mpios/10016a.h…

http://www.nuestro-mexico.com/Durango/Nombre-de-Dios/La-Constancia/

Nombre de Dios is a town between Sombrerete, Zacatecas and Durango, Durango. It is the head of the municipality where La Constancia is located. Chances are the name of the factory was "La Constancia" and the settlement around it took its name.

Later the factory took the name of "Londy" or "Lundy" and produced rugs but it closed in 1981:

Sylvia:

If you look in the links section under Geography, then under Digital Map Collections, then under Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes you will find a very detailed contemporary road map of Zacatecas:

http://dgp.sct.gob.mx/index.php?id=440

If you find Jerez and go south on the main federal road seven kilometers, then head east past La Labor, you will find Rancho de los Rios just before La Gavia. So basically, it is about 15 kilometers southeast of Jerez.

As to its foundation, I can't help there.

Comment

Sylvia, what family names are you researching from Los Rios? I'm researching Jerez but do not have any family from Los Rios even though I see them frequently in the records. I'd be glad to keep an eye out for your lines when doing further records. Mostly I've recorded from El Durazno, Los Rodartes, Los Haros, Los Juarez, La Boca, El Cargadero, Santa Rita and Cienega unless they moved to the big city Jerez then I record them too.

I have some more questions:
In Nov 13, 2002 I review film #0439848 Vol No. 9 Oct 1780-1784
Jose Antonio Mariano- 16 Nov 1782 hijo de Jose Maria Carlos de Godoy y
Tomasa Juana Carrillo.
There is a note that I can not make sence of my notes:
"se dio Fe en M______________? 11 Mayo 1803."
Can you please verify for me this information, if you have the film.

I know that Jose Maria Carlos de Godoy married three times:
1 Josefa de los Rios
2 Tomasa Juana Carrillo
3 Maria Guadalupe Escobedo Garcia

This Jose Antonio Mariano was a priest and he is the one that went to
Jalisco. I presume that he took with him the widow of his father and the 4
children to live with him in San Gabriel -Venustiano Carranza- Jalisco
after the dead of Jose Maria Carlos de Godoy in 1810.

I know about the children but I will like to find their birthdays:
Ygnacio \CARLOS DE GODOY Escovedo born 1803
Antonia \CARLOS DE GODOY Escovedo born in1804
José Rafael \CARLOS DE GODOY Escovedo that we know

Comment

Hi Sylvia,

I don't have the film. I've got extracts of several entries in the books of the parrochial archives produced by a friend of mine who lives in Jerez. I haven't got the entry for Jose Antonio Mariano Carrillo, but I can tell you that "se dio fe in M__ on 11 de mayo de 1803" indicates that a certified copy of the entry was produced on that date most probably with the purpose of being a proof to become a priest.

Unfortunately I don't have any more information on the rest of Jose Maria Carlos' children or marriages, nor on Guadalupe Villa Guzman.

Maria Marquez of Mezquitic, Jalisco

Hi everyone, my name is Ruben Marquez and I am currently researching my grandma. I am an amateur I assure you, I seriously cant find any information about her, her kids and where they where at at the turn of the 20th century. The only thing I have found was a birth/death certificate from my Uncle where it states her name and her first husbands name Jesus Montes. The bad part is that it only states 1924 and the birth place of Mezquital, Jalisco, Mexico. The information that I have is bellow. If anyone has found any information during your research and would like to share it would be deeply appreciated! Thanks

Ruben Marquez

El Morisco (a)

Today I was researching my Lizarraga line, and I discovered an interesting entry for my paternal 4th Great Grandfather, Salvador de Lizarraga, married to Maria Rosa de Herrera Anzaldo, on 20 Oct 1748

Hello Paul,

In this case El Morisco is the name of ranch. It isn't a classification.

Hello Paul, I don't have knowledge of the ranch I was going by what you told
us was on the marriage record and what is common on them. I did try and
search for it but I never found anything about it. Many ranches have changed
names over the years so that may be the reason.

Feligrecía de Villita

Has anyone heard of this place - Feligresía de Villita? (Ags marriage
record dated 1874, birthplace of spouse). From context I presume it
was in Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, or Jalisco.

(sorry for my poor english)

Since the 19th century to mid 20th century La Villa de Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion, now called City of Encarnacion de Diaz, was popularly named La Villita, nickname changed to "La Chona" used today.

Encarnacion de Diaz, is located about 40 km (25 milles) south of Aguascalientes, centered between San Juan de los Lagos, Lagos de Moreno and Aguascalientes

This "Villita" has been parish, since 1778, therefore has had own parishioners
"feligresía". I Think the others "Villitas" belong, or are part of other parishioners, don`t have a own.

does not show any other Sepulvedas (Morales, yes, but not Ma Manuela), but
I'm not clear if I'm looking at records for Indios or Castas, as they seem
to be distinct records.  I think it would be worth taking a look at the
"Informacion Matrimonial" records, not just the matrimonial ones, to search

I don't know if an index exists for "informacion matrimonial" films. Maybe
someone else does? I'm surprised that the mg film does not indicate where
she or her parents originated. If you are stuck, you may want to request
the one for that period and take a look, just in case there is something
there. Remember to look at the period before the mg occurred. I haven't

Hello Raquel,
The marriage entry of the daughter Maria Luisa Sepulbeda indicates she's an espanola and the groom, Juan Fermin Santelices, is an espanol from Santander, Spain.  So, I can only guess that her parents were espanoles.
There's a Ma Manuela Morales married Joseph Sepulveda
            12/07/1774 Snta Barbara, Snta Barbara,Chihuahua
It's tempting, because the time is right, and his full name could have been Joseph Gregorio Sepulveda.  But that marriage entry says Joseph Sepulbeda and there is no "informacion matrimonial" listed for that time period.  So again, only speculation.

Where can I find an index to check if "informacion matrimonial" exists for the daughter, Ma Luisa's, marriage for 1793 Dolores Hidalgo, GTO?  Maybe there her father is entered as Joseph or Joseph Gregorio.
That's the only thing I can come up with at this time.   Thanks again for your help,   Alice

Alice, I am unclear as whether you have looked at the film to see the mg
data. Names are too similar and too often repeated within families to make
any assumptions. But the entry may tell you where each was from and
sometimes notes the ages of the marrying individuals. I would begin there.

In reply to by RaquelRuiz

Comment

Raquel,
You're right about too many exact names at the same time.
The other problem is that the same names are not used consistently.
My 5grandmother Ma Luisa Sepulbeda's marriage entry of 02/27/1793, Hidalgo, GTO, names her parents as Gregorio Sepulbeda and Maria Manuela Morales.
I can't find her parents' marriage entry under those exact names, and I can't find Ma Luisa's baptismal entry to check for another name variation for Gregorio.  So if I start searching the Juan, Jose, or Manuel Gregorio Sepulbeda's, how will I if I've got the right one?
What strategy would you advise?   Thanks for your help,   Alice

Hi Christopher, what areas of Zacatecas are we dealing with here?
My family los Perez de Camino owned about 7 haciendas in Zacatecas, mostly
the northern part, according to research Im getting through now. Though
they did not reside there, they mostly lived in Mexico city. This was in
the 1700s and early 1800s for these haciendas. They held lands n Puebla,
Mexico City, Jalisco, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato.

I just checked our records and it appears my family did own
El Maguey, one of the many haciendas owned in Zacatecas.
I believe we then sold it to los Sanchez de Tagle, close relatives
of ours. I never got to know how they acquired all this land but
I figure the marriages were key. Manuel Silvestre PErez de Camino,
was Governor of Nueva Vizcaya, he had land in Northern MExico,
Puebla, Guanajuato and Mexico City, Zacatecas
Chihuahua, other parts, he married Josepha de Arguelles y Miranda
sole heir to the mayorazgo of her father Juan de Arguelles he held
many lands in Queretaro, San Luis Potosi some in Mexico City. He had married
Antonia Sanchez de Tagle who was given land for her dowry and had also
purchased and inherited some land when her parents died, Marqueses

by the king and viceroy for his service. He was later given land in Puebla

Thanks for sending that Saldivar report. I will let you know what I find, once I get in touch with my aunt.

As for Camino or Perez del Camino, how are these the same? Where/when did they drop the Perez part of del Camino if they are the same families?

We know they didn't own La Hacienda de La Luz and surrounding Haciendas right? One of my aunts still have "escrituras" where it says the original owner of her home was (wich is one part of La Hacienda when they split it up) Manuel Escobedo. This was confirmed by the current owner(owns La Casa Grande part)

If recall correctly, I think he said they sold it to "Diaz de Leon" family in the early 1900's. A few years back one of their descendants came down to see if he could purchase the whole Hacienda or at least "La Casa Grande"...obviously they refused.

The family there now bought the whole Hacienda after the Diaz de Leon had to leave for almost nothing, but made sure their most important people had a place to stay. My

Yes! They are the same, Perez de Camino and Camino, apprarently the history of the family is
very interesting. I can send the stuff I have on them. But we come from Manuel Silvestre Perez
de Camino who married into the House of Altamira. These early Caminos didnt really have a
"home", per se they did live in Mexico City in the 1700s but they had haciendas everywhere.
Their estates ranged from Queretaro, Mexico, Puebla, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Zacatecas,
Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon. Several books, articles and reports have been published on
don Manuel Silvestre, its funny Manuel is totally a family name that repeats almost every generation.
Im surprised no one has really wrote an extensive book on the mayorazgo of the Caminos, I know
this topic always sparks the Rincon Gallardo and their massive estate but the Camino also had a huge one.
He was a caballero de la Orden de Santiago, Governor of la Nueva Vizcaya, Royal Tresurer of New Spain,

Perez, not all dropped it but members of the family started to drop it around the time of the independence. Some

there were Rodriguez Camino and Gonzalez Camino in the 1700s so who knows maybe down the line. Those names
were compounded so. Hmmm...I dont have to much time to gather all the Camino stuff, Id have to do piece by piece
at a time, even im still gathering stuff together. So I cant make promises as to the date Id send EVERYTHING in copy.

I have only gone back to about 1475 with the conquistadores on my direct line so I
would not know. They did have two sets of coat of arms. They came from Cantabria

at least thats what my research is pointing towards. don Manuel Silvestre en his probanza

You're right about that's the way it was.  Still, I can't help but cringe when I realize how prevelant it was.   Recently I came across a defuncto entry where the priest entered "dominga, mi esclava".   I had no idea priests had slaves.  I saw many criada/o entries, so don't know why he didn't choose that route.   Thanks again,  Alice

I was surprised since Gonzalez is one the most popular Spanish surnames. I

I also visited the www.Genall.net page and you are right, there are a lot of

Once on the main page of Geneall I selected Espanol, by clicking on Base de Dados, on the left hand side of the page, one will find a listing of all the names that appear.

I tried searching for the Gonzalez surname that John mentioned and I came up with hundreds of individuals with Gonzalez surnames.

I am absolutely NOT posting an ad. I was merely posting an inquiry to my fellow genealogists as to the validity of this site.

As I mentioned before, I stumbled across it by accident and thought it was too good to be true. It seemed extremely easy (too easy), yet beneficial. Being the skeptic that I am, I was hoping to gain some feedback from anyone that might have used the site before offering any of my own research.

Linda, Esther has been a member for 7 years 10 weeks. It is not an ad. If
all of the NuetrosRanchos members had their tree on that site a lot of
people's missing info could be found much easier. I have mentioned the site
before and it is my preferred. I use Ancestry, Myheritage, rootsweb, and
Genoom. Nothing is better than Geneanet in my opinion.

I use Ancestry, WorldConnect (rootsweb), and a couple of others, but I haven't tried Geneanet. Some of my relatives are switching to MyHeritage from Ancestry and swear by that.

I am currently using the MyHeritage software, but have not upgraded to the premium on-line service. I enjoy the fact that it automatically searches other users of the software for matches. I have actually found others with the same family lines. This part is nice, since you can take a "sneak peak" at the other tree, then make contact with the owner to confirm any data. The only down fall I am seeing is that many of the individuals that are using the software don't seem to be serious genealogists.

I still regularly upload my family tree updates to Ancestry.com and continue to receive inquiries from others through this route.

Esther,

I no longer share my trees with Ancestry and MyHeritage because, as you said, too many people are not serious genealogists, don't view microfilms, etc. all they do is copy over other people's trees when only the name and region might be the same, but it is definitely not their ancestors. Instant family trees, I call that. I made one of my trees "private" on Ancestry after I found that someone "stole" my grandfather and all his ancestors. I tried to contact that person, and they did not respond. She has a cousin who does have the right ancestor.

I still get inquiries even from my "private" trees, since people can use the Ancestry "contact the owner of this tree" feature. Usually I find that we have common ancestors eight generations back.

I have been doing some of the research from my resources (transciptions I have done) for my cousins who normally just depend on what they find online, though I have to say that some of them do come up with info I haven't found such

Comment

Well, said. I, too, have encountered similar problems. When I have
contacted a Family Tree "owner", I have discovered too many times that no
sourcing has occurred; and by admission of the "owner" is a copy of
someone's non-sourced family tree. It is discouraging, so much so that I am
reluctant to share my trees on-line.

How long have you been using this site? Another member of Nuestros contacted me privately and informed me that one of the main contributors (via other genealogists) is a professor at UNAM, Professor Javier Sanchiz.

If this is as great as it's beginning to sound, I would have to agree with you......if we all submitted our work, we would cut our work in half! I have spent over 10 years compiling data only to find out that someone else was busily compiling the same information!

Thanks for your input, Armando. I am beginning to feel a little less skeptical.

I have only been here 1yr 19wks. Javier Sanchiz had begun his research on
Veracruz and it started to encompass other areas of Mexico. Therefore
whatever he has that includes our area ties into people or surnames of the
area of his study. His UNAM page can be found at One of the reasons I
like Geneanet so much is the popularity of it worldwide. I have found trees
from Spain and Mexico that aren't found on other sites. At the same time I
have found some trees on other sites not found on Geneanet. Using all free
sites would actually be the best way for all of us to help each other out.
Especially since all that has to be done is sign up and import and export
ged files.

I went to the website just for a quick check and tried to look up, under
origins of surnames, "Gonzalez"' and it came back with " no data
available"
Gonzalez, one of the most popular Spanish surnames and they don't have any
data???

I don't believe I'll be using this website.

John, that is because the source is : An etymological dictionary of family
and Christian names - By William Arthur - 1857. I did a search of Gonzalez
in Jalisco and there were 224 matches.
