Anyone with members from the vast Pelayo family surely can trace their roots to Miguel Cayetano Villegas Pelayo and Maria Lucia Angela Vidro Lopez Andrade. But the family of Matriarch, Lucia Angela, has remained elusive as we have never found a marriage or birth for her. I may have resolved the family links, but it is confusing and complicated so I am presenting my findings so that others can confirm or disprove what I believe to be true and possibly add other data.

The Dispensa of Alejo Rafael Pelayo and Lina del Carmel Lopez
Dated: 28 January, 1804 is important primarily because it
provides us the succession of names for Lucia's maternal line (however I believe the tree is erroneous in the connection to Antonio Lopez). In researching Lazaro and Eugenio I learned that they also used the names Lopez and Toscano interchangeably.

The marriage for: Domingo Lopez and Lucia Toscano took place on 8 February, 1701
in Tecolotlan. It is important to note that Lucia also uses the name Solis and her parents are listed as: Francisco Luis Toscano

My ggggggg grandfather is "Antonio Madera" of Minillas, Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico. He was born aproximately around 1660 (from what I was told from other nuestros ranchos members). He passed away sometime before 1709 as this document is proof where his daughter "Manuela Madera" in matrimonio of March 2, 1709. And it states that her parents are "Antonio Madera (difunto) and Maria De La Candelaria.

I cannot find the archives of difuntos of Mezquitic in the time frame of 1690 - 1710. So I don't know how my ggggggg grandfather Antonio Madera passed away. But I found ot that in 1704 there was an indigenous uprising in Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico. I also know that my ggggggg grandfather had 2,000 hectares in the year 1686 was I was told by a person who resides in the City of Zacatecas and is doing heavy research of the area. He told me that he had seen the title of my ggggggg grandfather Antonio Madera as one of the original owners of Rancho Palmitos that is near Minillas, Mezquitic, Jalisco. And had 2,000 hectares. He stated in his comments:

"fijate que en el Archivo histórico de Zacatecas, recuerdo hace un tiempo haber visto un expediente sobre el rancho atemajac, que luego se llamò Palimitos y se remonta a 1698 y perteneciò a un señor de apellido Madera"

"Colinda con Mezquitic,
De hecho hay un racnho que pertence tanto a Mezquitic como a Valparaíso y se lama San Gerónimo, junto a él esta Palmitos."

"El documento también lo puedes enc ontrar, según vi las referencias en la Casa de la cultura Jurídica de Zacatecas, el año de 1893, cuando las compañías deslindadoras declarron baldíos los ranchos y haciendas de Valparaíso, fue el año de 1893 y el dueño del ranch mencionado era Gorgonio Navarro. Pero los primeros dueños fueron creo que Antonio Madera. A los hijos se les dio confirmación de la merced hecha en 1698. Y la superficie erq de mas de 2 mil hectáreas."

"De hecho en un trabajo de investigación que estoy realizando lo menciono, pues mi tema trata de las ahciendas en valparaíso y tuve que mencionar el dato porque se trata de la ocupación del suelo en Valparaíso. allí fue donde encontré ese dato que me sirvió."

Hi Primos,for the many descendants from this site of Juan Simon Duran and Regina de Aguayo, I came across Juan Simon Duran's defuncion record. Can someone make out his testament. I can see he died 11/12/1673 at age of 80+ and he left as executors, "su mujer y a Juan Duran y Nicolas Duran sus hijos"

I have read but can't seem to understand how to use the numbering system for la Sagrada Mitra records. I have tried to follow the instructions but am getting nowhere. Can someone please simplify them for a dummy like me??

It looks like a compilation of verses that deal with the conquest of Valencia from the Moors, and I wonder if this refers to an ancestor of our Ruiz de Esparza. Granted, this took place in the 1200's but I just found it interesting. Here's the translation of the verse:

Lope de Esparza noble capitan de la guardia Real, vino desde Navarra con su muger e hijos a la conquista de esta ciudad: pintaba en su escudo un sol de oro, atravesado de una flecha, sobre campo verde. Acredito su heroico valor en la accion de la Boatella, donde el Rey D. Jaime fue herido de una saeta; e interpuso su autoridad para que se retirara, y lo llevo a su tienda para curarlo: por lo que agradecido el Rey, le dio a Benafer, libre de todo pecho.

I have my 9th great grandmother, Lorenza Tescareno born about 1685 and married to Nicolas Gomes. Their daughters are Marina, Antonia, Maria de los Dolores and Josepha born in Pinos, Zacatecas in the early 1700's. If anyone has iinfo on this line I would greatly appreciate any help.

It mentions that his parents Francisco Sanchez de Montes de Oca and Ana Tomassina Ruiz de Esparza were residents of "parado de Mestiticacan." I assumed at first that it meant the town of Mexticacan, but I have my doubts because it is so far away from Aguascalientes. Could it be that at that time Aguascalientes was the closest parish?

I'm still at the beginning stage of my research on this family. I'm amazed to find so many messages regarding the Ruiz de Esparza family and all the fellow members researching this family. Once again, I'd like to thank Austin Perez, who provided me the info to connect my tree to this family. Before this, I had only found a connection with 4, maybe 5 nuestros ranchos members. Now, I guess I have many more primos!

I have another Teresa Carlos de Godoy in the same time period who is married to Pedro Joseph Contreras. This Teresa is daughter of Antonio Carlos de Godoy and Catalina Sid Caldera.. Could they be the same Teresa?

Es mi linea de Rodríguez de Frías que de Nochistlán se fueron a los Altos de Jalisco, a Tepatitlán y Jalostotitlán. Muchos de los datos los tomé de la obra de José Luis Vásquez y Rodríguez de Frías, por lo cual me gustaría saber si ustedes tienen alguna diferencia con los datos presentados y los que ustedes tienen.

Se habla que el primer Juan Rodríguez de Frías es hijo de Hernando de Frías y nieto del conquistador de Cíbola Rodrigo de Frías, me gustaría saber que tan cierto es ésto.

Buenos Días,
Estoy tratando de conectar a los Anda-Altamirano de Jerez Zacatecas, con los de Lagos de Moreno. Encontré en el libro de "Retoños de España en la Nueva Galicia" del autor Mariano Gonzalez-Leal que entre los hijos del Capital Juan de Anda-Altamirano y Juana Ruiz se encuentra Isabel Anda-Altamirano casada con Francisco Prieto Gallardo (el 20 de enero de 1659 en Teocaltiche)que mas tarde se trasladaron a la zona de Jerez (linea de la que desciendo). En dicho libro no se menciona la fuente para dicha conexión, ya que el matrimonio no incluye el nombre de los padres de Isabel. Asimismo encontré la muerte de su padre Juan de Anda y dice que no hizo testamento. Ya también revise los bautizos de Lagos, y no encontré el de Isabel.

Dicha conexión la encontré en algunos mensajes dentro de este foro, asegurando que Isabel Anda es hija de Juan de Anda; pero desgraciadamente ninguno de los mensajes incluye la fuente.

Agradecería mucho cualquier información al respecto

el hijo de pedro de herrera y maria rodriguez
ella hija de juan de salazar y maria s.

el detalle es el siguiente:
no tengo mas informacion sobre nicolasa ya que aperece con distinto apellidos
como de la cruz salazar, fernandez de palos, fernandez salazar.

tengo sospechas posiblemente sea descedientes de los fernandez de palos pero no estoy seguro

espero y alguien me podria ayudar a encontrar la ascendencia de nicolasa se lo agradezceria mucho

My interest in family history comes from my engagement in the Chicano Student Movement in the late 1960's. Although born in Jalisco, Mexico, I came as a child to the United States. During the next twenty-plus years I went through a transformation not understanding what was occurring to my sense of self. By the time I reached my mid twenties, I no longer knew who I was culturally or racially. I was being educated (again) at a great university continuing a process of learning of others with little information on who I was or how I got to be who I was. The politics of the times raised so many questions about who we all were as a society and as a member of the world's community that I were to engage myself and add to the world, I had to know who I was, really and deeply. Deeply meant my roots. The work of discovery began. I continue that work with this genealogical work. With help of a cousin in Mexico, we have built a family tree that takes us deeply into Mexico and across the United States, including Spain and other countries of the world.

While my roots are in Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco, Mexico on my paternal side, our family also has been present in Zapotlan/Ciudad Guzman, Guadalajaara, and Valle de Mazamitla, My mother's side is rooted in Sinaloa.
