Has anyone researched San Martin de Bolaños, Jalisco? The church records only go back to 1905. Were earlier records lost or destroyed? If not, what nearby parish was being used? If anyone comes across a cluster of 1800's baptism from children born in San Martin de Bolaños, would you please let me know so I can search those parish records.

The gene pool or rather the nucleus are the following: Mendoza (by far the most influential, produced several branches: Gómez-Hurtado de Mendoza, Gutiérrez de Mendoza, Jiménez de Mendoza, Sánchez de Mendoza, etc), González de Hermosillo, González Rubio, Macías Valades, Fernández de Rueda, Hernández Gamiño, Reynoso-Rentería, Gómez de Portugal, González de Rubalcaba, Alcalá y Hurtado de Mendoza, Vásquez de Lara, Ruiz de Esparza and Padilla Davila
The other 100 or so families gradually settled in the area and began to marry into the nucleus. The nucleus were fond of the peninsulars and quickly married their daughters to them. Often times they came in service of the king, held a social position, land was granted, etc. Most if not all people from Los Altos, Aguascalientes, western Guanajuato and Jalisco can trace repeated times to these families. My mom for example descends from 9 children of Lope Ruiz, Lord of Esparza, some 11 times. Thats intense!

i've come accross this while indexing the 1821 marriage records and this document is confusing. I don't understand some of the terms such as 'espanol indiano" and "america meridional"
Someone asked a while back why the last name "Salado" was taken by some of their children, Cristobal, Lucas and Nicolas. I think I stumbled on the answer, if you go up 4 generations it looks like this.
Bernardo Ruiz de Esparza, his mother, Ana Francisca de Gabay, her mother, Petrolina Moctezuma (still being debated), her father, Diego de Arias de Sotelo, and last his father, Capitan Antonio Sotelo y Salgado.
I am not 100% sure on this, but I too wondered where the last name "Salado" came from, and Salgado sounds very close.

Thanks Bill for your words, well both of my Esparza lines are currently Francisco Esparsa (estimated birth 1828) and my other line is Matiana Esparsa (Est. birth 1832). My grandfather actually believes these two people are first cousins since all of our "families" would intermarry within our family and I too believe this. Anything is possible. I mean they both came from the same place and same time and lived in the same place which is Huanusco in Zacatecas. In the same ranch. I mean what are the odds. I think they came from Calvillo in Ags. Or near Ags city. Francisco Esparsa married Maria de la Luz AVILA. And for Matiana, she married Pablo Vasquez; they are the parents of one the six original founders of Hacienda La Luz. (Long story short the Zacatecaian Gov't gave money to Mariano Camino my 3rd grt grandfather to start up a Hacienda in Huanusco which he named La Hacienda de La Luz de Nuestra Senora Guadalupe ("La Luz") for short. The founders are Mariano Camino, Ambrosio Garcia, Leandro Vasquez, Rumauldo Lizalde, Mateo Velasco and Estevan Lopez. I descend from all of these gentlemen. I have never been able to find either of their parents and you have solved this
for me. I am so very grateful. Will I be able to find this same info of the
grandparents on familysearch? I live in Ohio and all our films must be ordered
from one of the branches of the LDS Church. Senon Paulino would be my fathers'
4th great grandfather who married a Maria Campos. Senon or Paulino, as some of
his records call him,also had a son, named Rafael Alvarez, married to Viviana
Alva Valensuela. I have never been able to find his documents for his birth or
christening. This couple had a son, Melecio or Melecio Alvarez who would have
been my grandfather and my fathers father. My father, Amador Alvarez,was the
son of Melecio Alvarez and Sara Campos Mota. I have not been able to find birth
or christening record or death records for Melecio or Rafael. Would you be able

Hello Armando, I am contemplating the Y-DNA, however, I have a
question regarding the Y-DNA, according of what I have read on
the subject, is that through the Y-DNA, it will discover a paternal
ancestor, in my case the surname de Leon. I am willing to invest the
necessary funds, if the test will provide me with the information
for me to break through the wall, I have encountered while researching my grandfather Bartolo de Leon. I have been very successful with my maternal

encountered of the de Leon surname is from various administrators of
ANCESTRYDNA, however, so far the claim is that the MATCH is their wives,

While comparing both documents, I notice that on the Catalogo they transcribe Lope's boss's last name as Manleon and Maleon, while in the original document it looks like Mauleon. Hi! Can anyone tell me if the name "Petra" is a nickname for something else? I just received a treasure box of genealogy research from a relative who has passed. I have found baptismal and marriage information for Petra's siblings and parents but I would not have known about her, had I not inherited these notes. My next approach is maybe this is a nickname.The females, other than my great grandmother, are: Narcisa, Paz, Victoriana, Concepcion and Juana.

I started to pick up on going through the testament microfilm I had gone through. I was seeing “Hacienda De Tequesquite” year 1844. Saw this list of what looks like salaries of people:

On one day the Spanish fleet captured 55 British ships, including 8 war

For fear of an attack from Spain and France, England kept the bulk of its
army and naval fleet at home, diluting the strength of its forces in North
America.
Spanish merchants supplied the colonists with arms, ammunition and supplies
as early as 1774.
17,000 Spanish troops and sailors fought the English in North America during
the war; many more than those provided by France.

In gathering information on the Haro and Miramontes clan of Tlaltenango for my upcoming book, I have run across a family that I have been unable to connect to the rest of the Haros. The family is that of Petronila Haro, married to Juan de Ugarte in 1626. The family had a son in Tlaltenango (Pedro Ugarte) in 1631, before moving to Hidalgo del Parral sometime before 1641, when they had another son (Tomas de Ugarte).
Does anyone have information on this family? Could this be a sister of Hernando Haro and Lorenzo Haro (who was a sponsor at her wedding)?

La familia es la de Petronila Haro, casada con Juan de Ugarte en 1626. La familia procreo un hijo en Tlaltenango (Pedro Ugarte) en 1631 antes de mudarse a Hidalgo del Parral antes de 1641, cuando procrearon otro hijo (Tomas de Ugarte).
Alguien tiene informacion sobre esta familia? Podria ser Petronila una hermana de Hernando Haro y de Lorenzo Haro (quien fue padrino en su boda)?
