Felipe Cadena Lopez 1859 - 1939 Married to Zenobia Carrillo de Lopez

Hello, I'm trying to find relatives of Felipe Cadena Lopez and Zenobia Carrillo de Lopez from Corral Blanco, Jalisco area.

The best place to find your relatives is at
www.familysearch.org
When you first get to the site, you type in some names, where it first
opens. When you are there, you have to scroll down a bit, and click "advance
search" to add a spouse or child. You make a choice by clicking on the drop
down box, and chose "child, spouse, or parent". That is how I found all the
indexed records I have.
Once you find out where they were married or baptized, you can go directly
to the records for Corral Blanco by:
1) Scroll down the page to where it says "Browse by location"
2) Chose " USA, Canada, and Mexico"
3) Scroll down on next page to: "Mexico, Jalisco, Catholic Church Records"
4) Click on the BLUE link that says "Browse through Million +
records"....yes just do it :)
5) Next page Click on "Location"
6) Next page Click on BLUE link that is "Name of Church"
7) Next page you have to choose the year you are searching for example:
"Information matrimonial 1771"
8) Next Scroll through the records.

I found on Family search what I believe was when he was born. If I have it right, his father was Monico Gutierrez and mother was Toribia Albarez with a birthdate of February 19, 1889. I know this date is about right as I have his age on my mom's birth certificate and I found a border crossing in 1940 that I know was him that gave 1889 as birthdate and it gave Cecilla Casillas of Valle de Guadualupe as his contact. As for his death I know it was around the time I gave birth to one of my daughters, but can't remember which one. One was born 1968 and the other 1972. I lean toward the 1972.

Hello,

I am researching Gonzalez, Saucedo (or Sauceda/Sausedo), and de
Santos. I have records of my great-grandparents crossing to the U.S.
in 1948 and1952. My great-grandfather, Hilario Saucedo de Santos, was
born in January of 1910 and the record says he came from Encarnacion
de Diaz, Jalisco. It says "Pa: Celerino Saucedo" and "Ma: Amada de
Santos." I believe they meant "padre" and "madre," but they are listed
as "partner" and "maid." Hilario's wife, Maria Gonzalez-France (France
is on the record, but could have been misspelled or abbreviated) was
born in June of 1917 and the record says she also came from this town.
In 1952 their oldest child was 15, so they might have married around
1935 or 1936.

Amada and Celerino married in November of 1889, according to church
records. Amada was baptized in Encarnacion de Diaz in Sep. 1874. This
means she would have been 36 when Hilario was born. Her parents' names
vary according to a couple of sources so I am still

I have found many records at the Family search site, and have become obsessed with piecing together as much as I can. So far I have gone back 4 generations on my maternal grandmothers side.

I am fluent in both English and Spanish so any specific links or databases that you may suggest would be welcome, and if there are any questions for me as far as records or information I am more than willing to share/upload what I have so far.

One of my father's lines from Zacatecas, the Soriano, had families where the children ran the gamut from mulato to Espanol, and Mestizo and Yndio. It must be like Linda says, they went by the color of skin or texture of the hair.

I would think that Antonio was also Leano de la Torre but wasn't written that way in his record. It could be an old name like my Llanos de Valdes, where some dropped the Llanos or dropped the Valdez. If you know his mother's name was Cardenas, then it wasn't she who was the "de la Torre", right? On Google I found several people surnamed Cardenas Leano, or DeLaTorre Leano, and some Leano de la Torre. The "n" has a ~ (tilde) over it.

It would be easy to see the actual file where you find this term. But in Spanish when you say "auto criminal" it refers to a criminal report. A very good tool to find any difficult or antique word is the Real academia Española www.rae.es. This is the definition from it:

2. m. Der.

But are you sure is it written "Criminales"?

It seems that Vicenta Flores (mother of the broom) could be sister or cousin of Carmen Flores (father of the Bride) But you have to go to the Marriage Information that use to be a separate book of the same parish. The information could help you even to find the grand parents of the coupe. Good luck.

I think "parentesco de segundo con tercero de consanguinidad" means that the commom ancestor/s is/are two generations away from one of them and three from the other.
So, the grandparent/s of one of them is/are the great-grandparent/s of the second one.
This would mean that they were first cousins once removed. Maybe the groom was the first cousin of the father of the bride through the Flores line.

You need to look in Información Matrinonial for their marriage, maybe there
are a Dispensa and maybe there is a family three.

be careful when interviewing to not fluster her with direct questions.
Rather than ask "What year did your grandfather die?" Ask "Were you
married at the time your grandfather died?" or "How old were you when
your grandfather died?" or "Was Rosalie born by then when your
grandfather died?"

Answers to those questions will give the same answer since they can be
calculated and then later you can ask the direct question. The last
thing you want to do is "shut down" a conversation with too many direct
questions. In fact some of the best information I have received is from
just letting my older relatives tell me family stories. If the
conversation strays you can always gently swing it back on topic. You'll
find that suddenly someone that couldn't remember things remembers sooo
much detail about the family.

Have fun I only could wish I had my grandmother to listen to.

Rather than ask "What year did your grandfather die?" Ask "Were you
married at the time your grandfather died?" or "How old were you when

Answers to those questions will give the same answer since they can be

thing you want to do is "shut down" a conversation with too many direct

Yeah, I don't know what is going on with the triplicate messages. Sorry guys.

My grandmother really really likes to talk . She won't mind direct questions , I ask them all the time. She can go on and on for hours.

I tried "interviewing" my Dad alone and he said he could not remember but when I
called a family meeting with his sister and brothers they remembered by sharing
a story then someone else would add what they suddenly remembered.  I did tape
the conversation which lasted 3 hours. Since their gr-grandmother Nicolasa
Reveles (Mama Nico) lived to be 112 they had much to share.

Linda, that's what I always do with my other great grandparents. Mentioning names and places or events gets their memories back on track and talking about things I like to hear from them about their childhood and families. Its kind of hard thought because they're in their 90s and forgetting but reminding them helps.

Nuestros Ranchos:
In preparation for the first ever family Reunion of the Gutierrez family, we have decided to write a book of our history. We prepared Elder Interview sheets in English and Spanish so that the family members could interview the elders. I am willing to share our Elder Interview sheet if any of you ar interested. There are 10 branches of Norberto & Margarita Gutierrez from Jalostotitlan. My cousins and I personally interveiwed the 5 children of my grandmother and videotaped them. We used the transcript for our Chapter. Unfortunately, one of the Tios died 3 weeks later. We also did the DNA testing and the oldest living survivor gave a cheek swab. He, too, died last month. Our reunion is July 16 and we expect between 800 and 1,000 persons! The living history, as recorded in Our Book, will be a keepsake for all of our descendants. I recommend that you do your Elder interviews while you still have your familiy.

Eloise,
Yes, please share.
In regards to interviewing older family members-my grandmother is 90 and in interviewing her, I started with having her verify information I heard from someone else just to get her talking and so I can help her if needed. Recording is a must because interruptions (so that you can write down things) can interfere with the flow of information. I also started a family page on myfamily.com (affiliated with ancestry.com) and I change the monthly discussion in order to gather information from the younger generations. This month is "How did you spend your summer in childhood? With who? What did you do?" Sherri Mora

Sherri,
That's wonderful. The Elder Interview questions cover different topics - early childhood, school, historical events, immigration, etc. Attached is a form in Word format so you can change it as you see fit. Joseph Puente will be putting it on Nuestros Ranchos. I'm going to look at myfamily.com. Thank you.

http://garyfelix.tripod.com/index63.htm

y no llegaron a México

About 3 years ago, my brother had his DNA done, both MTDNA and the Y-DNA. The
Y-DNA for 36 markers is R1b1b2, the MTDNA is haplogroup A.
Our paternal surname is Avelar whose origins are from Portugal. Our maternal
DNA, haplogroup A is an indigenous surname whose origins are from Asia. Our
ancestrsses most likely traveled across the Bering Strait during the Ice Age
about 50, 000 years ago and down through North America and found their way to
what is now Central/Southern Mexico. Maternal surnames are Ruiz, Ruiz de Esparza

Hola Armando,

He estado haciendo investigaciones desde hace unos años y he reunido

Help locating la Barranca in Calvillo

Hello,

According to the document it's not a town, it's a rancho. It could be the
rancho called Barranca de Portales located west of Calvillo, northeast of
Michoacanejo, and southwest of El Rodeo. All of those places show up on
Google maps. I don't see any other rancho called Barranca, although some
have gone through name changes over the years and some that exist aren't on
Google maps.
Some of the ranches that don't show up on Google maps will show up on
www.pueblosamerica.com I did a search there for La Barranca, Aguascalientes
and I got the following:

Generations and generations of farming. Some drop out of school to work on the farm. But I am interested to see the educational level of our ancestors back then.

Because how is it that our ancestors for generations live the same life style of farming and farming? Some must have wanted to get out of that lifestyle and study in a University and move up.

I know a lot of our ancestors names, dates when they were born, where they lived but no information on what education level they have?

I am so glad some of you commented on this question.  A lot of our ancestors and current relatives live in the villages of the remote areas.

Generations and generations of farming.   Some drop out of school to work on the farm. But I am interested to see the educational level of our ancestors back then.

Because how is it that our ancestors for generations live the same life style of farming and farming?  Some must have wanted to get out of that lifestyle and study in a University and move up.

I know a lot of our ancestors names, dates when they were born, where they lived but no information on what education level they have?

not the answer you are looking for but I noticed that most records ask for the
signature and the majority respond they do not read or write.
That is especially true of the women. It's a great question though and I also
would be interested in the answer.

Educational Background of Relatives back during Colonial Mexico Times?

Are their any archives on information about the educational background of
relatives in our geneology tree going back to colonial times in Mexico?

Because how can one know of a relative was born in the 1700's in Mexico,  how
far in school did they get?  Did they attend college?

Because of your question I have decided to include in further records if they
could read or write.. thank you!

Lynda,
My grandparents and other family members (Gutierrez) went to Miami, Arizona. My grandparents returned to Jalostotitlan, but some of their cousins stayed in Miami. We have lost contact with those who remained in Miami. Good luck with your search.

Hi my name is Lynda Chavez and I must have made a mistake when I posted my introduction, I think that I only sent a link to one of my family lines. I have been working on some of my family lines and there are so many that I was hoping that others would have some connections to some of my ancestors. On my grandmothers side we are linked to Avila and Macias from Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco. It was only until the last several years in doing some family tree searches that I discovered that many (more than we thought) family members traveled to
