Marcelina,

i think your asking about the parents of Martin Munoz and Dolores Aguilar, but the marriage is available online.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-64L7-BPY

The parents of Martin Munoz are Pedro Munoz and Albina Rincon. And the parents of Dolores Aguilar are Trinidad Aguilar and Ascencion Palacio. The Padrinos were Bernardo and Anna Martinez.

Florentino de Alva and Felipa Alonso

Hello Nuestros Ranchos Forum,

Im looking for the parents of Florentino de Alva and Felipa Alonso, they're
probly born around 1820.

Hi Danny,

Florention de Alva and Felipa Alonso show up on FamilySearch in the marriages of their children Longino, Maximiano, and Cecilia among others.

There are corresponding baptism records for these children however Felipa is shown with the last name of Ruiz. It appears that Felipa used Ruiz early in her marriage and later changed to Alonso.

The marriage record of Florentino de Alva and Felipa Ruiz has Florentino's parents as Jose del Carmen de Alva and Placida de Alva; and Felipa as 'hija natural' of Nepomucena Ruiz. It also states that the couple required a marriage dispensation of 'consanguinidad en tercero con cuartro grado'
"México, Jalisco, registros parroquiales, 1590-1979," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18565-27439-5?cc=1874591 : 28 June 2014), Encarnación de Díaz > La Encarnación > Matrimonios 1830-1857 > image 314 of 863; parroquias Católicas, Jalisco (Catholic Church parishes, Jalisco).

I did not find any information

Austin,

Thank you for this information. after you said she was named Felipa Ruiz
and she has a dispensa i looked and found the image on katy's dispensas and
its there, but i don't know how to read it or who the person at the top
under jose alonso is. it looks like Anica, but that doesnt sound like a
name.

Danny,

You are right, it reads Anica, does not seem to be a name but it is a very uncommon name. However she is listed as Anna (or Anna Gertrudis) in the following records:

Her marriage (May 27 1780):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-V5S4-7W

Chistening of her daughter Nepomucena (May 23 1781):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-JX3B-6

Hope this helps on your search.

Comentario

Thank you Ruben. That makes sense. the dispensa has a lot of errors. it has
jose Alonso at the top of the Tronco and Anica and Maria as his daughters
but his daughters should be Anna Gertrudis and and Maria Antonia and the
person at the top should be Manuel Alonso de los Hinojos thats married to
Juana Baptista Martin de Sotomayor.

Looking for input on Villaseñor tovar data

In my research of my Villaseñor Tovar lines I have seen many posts on the Internet with a wide range of dates. I hope a discussion is started between the people with different dates.

The descent of Alvar Fañez Minaya to Juan de Tovar, señor de Verlanga, Guarda mayor del Rey Juan II.

[Pedro Ansurez Señor de Valladolid and his wife Doña Ello have daughter, Bascuna]

1) Alvar Fañez Minaya, He had two wives. First wife Bascuna Perez (daughter of Pedro Ansurez) Alvar has a second wife Estephania, some genealogists list the second wife as the mother. Alvar is the father of Rodrigo Alvarez

2) Rodrigo Alvarez (alcaide o gobernador de Toledo) he was married to "unknown name Señora de Navia" who inherited the "casa de Navia en Asturias y solar de Montenegro en Galicia" Rodrigo is the father of Alvaro Rodriguez de Navia

3) Alvaro Rodriguez de Navia is also known as Alvaro Rodriguez de Castro and Urraca Alfonsez (daughter of Alfonso VII and Gontroda Perez/Pietre)

Notes: Alvaro is married to the widow Urraca de Asturias "Reina viuda de Navarra" nickname "Reina de Asturias", who is the illegitimate daughter of a King Of Castilla Alfonso VII and Gontroda. Gontroda's parents

Dear Chris,

Thanks to your input, I feel comfortable with the info that we have on the Viilaseñor-Tovar line that we have in Spain. I have many interesting stories to go with the line.

Unfortunately, I still have much work to do on the descent of this line in Mexico. I still need more conclusive evidence on one of my Villaseñor lines. I need more information on my ancestor Regina Villaseñor y Cuevas 's parents.

I also want to do an indepth study of all of the connections of the Villaseñor with Mexico's past leaders.

Thanks again,
Rick

Comentario

Now that we have the Villaseñor Tovar line we can continue researching this lineage which has repeated descent from royalty. The most interesting stories that this lineage brings do not belong to its royal lines as we already descend from these royals from other lines. What this line brings us are stories that bring to life the ambitions of descendants of younger siblings of royalty and illegitimate descendants who want to also become kings and queens of their own realm. These political ambitions bring to light why many kings felt threatened by family members.

Comentario

Dear Chris,

What had thrown me off the he track on the Villaseñor line was a poor transcription that stated Alfonso F Villaseñor had served King Fernando III, el amoroso. This false information places Alfonso F Villaseñor pre 1252 which would have meant a couple missing generations or the men were elderly when they had their children.Once it was cleared up that it was a mistake then it became clear that it was not missing any generations and that it only went to the early 1300's and not the 1200's.

It was your input that led me to look at other sources that had the correct information that the king was Not Fernando III but Enrique III. You have been a tremendous help.

Thanks again,
Rick

Hello Chris,

1) Alfonso F. Villaseñor and Elvira Osórez (daughter of Fernando Osórez maestro de

2) Only son:
Fernan A. Villaseñor marries Aldonza Gutierrez de Tapia

Two sons Fernando and Diego.
Fernando was alcaide de Calatrava whose daughter, Aldonza de Villaseñor, married Fernando Vasquez de Acuña

4) comendador Juan Villaseñor Seron (Serone/Seronis) married to Elvira de Tovar y Enriquez de Castilla

Comentario

Dear Chris,

Those are the parents I have for Juan Villaseñor. In order for the parents of Elvira to make sense, she had to have been born prior to a certain date. Seeing that prior date made me Research some more, and come up with the dates and the prior dates that I came up with. I still would like to find where the earlier dates that are posted came from and see if any are valid.

For the parents, grandparents, and great grandparents to make sense then Juan Viilaseñor also had to have been born in the latter part of the 1300's. I have more research to do on the ancestors of the 1400's before I present the information on the family in the 1300's and 1200's..

From the 1200's to the 1500's these Villaseñor men live long lives and have children well after forty years of age,

Thanks for your help,
Rick

Comentario

Hi Rick,

I noticed Danny has been adding this family on Wikitree. He's done a very good job and included many secondary sources. I just added a few more profiles to this family and adjusted the dates on some with updated information. I just read your post above regarding Elvira Tovar Enriquez born in the latter part of the 1300s, unfortunately, I did not adjust her date that far back and I don't think that would fit with the known information.

Comentario

Dear Chris,
Based on the information that I have in my notes, i have Elvira Tovar born prior to 1386 and most likely earlier. I need to do more research to confirm the information in my notes.

Thanks,
Rick

Comentario

Hi Rick,

I think that information is incorrect. It wouldn't work for multiple reasons. If you look at the known information in the sources on the profile, you'll see that it would be impossible. The earliest possible that Elvira could be born would be about 1400 for all the known information to be correct. If I were to move the date of Elvira back to 1385, I would have to move everyone else back 45 years. That would move the birth of Alfonso Fernández de Villaseñor to 1308 who served in the wars of King Enrique III of Castile. Except, Enrique III didn't become king until 1393, which would which would put Alfonso Fernández de Villaseñor in his 90s during the wars of King Enrique. It's not likely that Alfonso was a nearly 100 year old commander. Same with all the other biographies, their known titles and positions wouldn't be accurate. If you look at Fernando Osorez, he also would be around 90 years old when he's made master of the order of Santiago. It just doesn't work.

Chris

Comentario

Dear Chris,

I agree that there is a problem with the information on the dates on Alfonso Fernandez de Villaseñor and his father. His father is listed as being in service with a much earlier king so there seems to be a problem of a missing generation, either after Alonso Fernandez Villaseñor or before. Much research is needed to see if we can figure out the correct lineage. That is why I didn't want to post the 1200's and 1300's of the Villaseñors as there seems to be a missing generation. As to Elvira Tovar it is a stretch for her to be born in 1376 as some people have posted. That is why I moved it to prior 1386 as she descends from one of two couples. If she was born before 1386 she was most likely born to couple "A."If she was born after 1386 then she was a grandchild to couple "A." Some people have posted that she is the great grandchild of couple "A" but dates rule that out.

The more information we add, the greater chance we have of figuring this out.
Thanks,
Rick

Comentario

Hi Rick,

I notice the online "unsourced" genealogies have her as the daughter of Juan de Tovar, Señor de Berlanga and Costanza Enriquez. They actually makes sense since they were married in 1423, that would place her around 1425, but moving Elvira any earlier than 1400 messes up known information about the other Villaseñores.

Chris

Comentario

She is a daughter of a Juan de Tovar but the question was which of the three possible Juan's. Some genealogist even add a fourth since a Sancho is also referred to sometimes as Juan Sancho. But your two cents actually rule out three of them and that leaves Juan de Tovar Sr. De Berlanga and Constanza Enriquez. We already knew that she was related to juan de Tovar Señor De Verlanga because in one document it said she was of his family but it did not indicate the precise relationship which had me thinking other possibilities. You have to be careful when researching this couple as his son juan de Tovar is also married to a Constanza but this Juan has a different title and both Constanzas have well known ancestries which distinguishes them.

If you wonder why I did not automatically identify her as a daughter when she is identified as family it is because in another line that I was researching in Spain/Italy I came up with the same wording and my ancestor ended being a niece and not

Comentario

Hi Rick,

Are you just asking if these dates make sense? I guess so. I agree that Diego de Villasenor that's married to Guiomar de Orozco y Sandoval can't be born in 1480. If Beatriz Orozco de Tovar was born in New Spain around 1512 which is where I have her in my notes, than Diego Orozco Tovar that's married to Ana Mexia would probably be born between 1480 and 1490, which would move Diego de Villasenor that's married to Guiomar de Orozco y Sandoval to 1460 or earlier. I think your date of 1483 for Diego Orozco Tovar is probably fairly close, but you give his mother Guiomar de Orozco y Sandoval's birth as prior to 1481, it would have to be a lot prior for her to be old enough to give birth to Diego Orozco Tovar by 1483 or there about. I do think Diego Orozco Tovar is at least 10 to 15 years older than the conquistador Juan de Villasenor, but you need to make sure that when you adjust Guiomar de Orozco y Sandoval's birth earlier, that she's still able to have children in 1500 when Juan

Comentario

Dear Chris,

I was asking if it made sense since it is different than what many are taking as fact. I do have more information that I am working on, but it only made sense If some of the information that people are posting is false.

I even originally felt that Juan Villaseñor Orosco had to be born much earlier since his brother is born much earlier, but he is correctly identified as being born in 1500, and as the last born brother.

I have parents for Juan Villaseñor Serones and Elvira Tovar y Enriquez de Castillo, but these parents didn't make sense with the data that is being posted. After looking at more data, I was able to come up with these dates. I agree with you that some of the people were born earlier than the dates that I wrote prior to. What I meant by writing prior to a date was that they could not had been born after that date. Many people have these people born after those dates which does not coincide with the pieces of the puzzle that we do have.

As to Guiomar

Can anyone shed light on her mother's name?

Hi Sherri,

Thank you for the info. This is exactly the tool I was looking for and I did not know family search had it available- I guess since it is in the pilot stages they are not promoting it too much yet?

I downloaded the chrome extension to start indexing on family search already. And I worked on indexing a record as a test and it was very easy. The system allows you to index any record that has not been indexed so you can pick any record/film you want to work on.
Apparently, the files indexed with this tool are not searchable in the regular family search page yet, but only through this family search pilot tool. But they do plan to make them searchable in the near future on their website.

I agree that it would be great to have a Los Altos/Nuestros Ranchos Group for this tool- please let me know if one is set up to join in. The benefit to be part of a group appears to be that researchers can search easily all the records indexed by a group- this would allow good

Comentario

You are correct if the 200 plus members of NR all helped index it would be amazing.
I also stopped indexing because I got frustrated with their accuracy assessment. Granted I did make mistakes, so a review process is necessary. You download data and enter it using a prescribed format, then another person reviews your work for accuracy. Some projects were easier than others, for example, I enjoyed the 1940's Census, but indexing ship manifests was difficult.
I had to study the handwriting and possible names in foreign languages, only to have the work considered erroneous.
I feel I need to concentrate on my family genealogy now, before I run out of time.
I encourage you to try it, many of us on this forum would benefit from your work, and it would be a labor of love.

Comentario

That's good to know.

I did indexing a few years ago for them. I was accurate but received too much criticism from them because I didn't use the Ñ "énye" or put the accents over some of the letters (that have it) in the Spanish language.

Many other indexers didn't do it either, and I decided to give up indexing due to the "nit-picking".

Laura, the numbers are for the page number not the Familysearch number
I found Celia Sanchez on page 199
I found Cruz Sanchez on page 235.. their fathers were brother and the grandparents are Simon Sanchez and Celedonia Herrera.

Laura,

The numbers next to the names represent page no.

You can find entry for Celsa (169) in image 199 (Right side at the bottom), Cruz (235) in image 235 (Right side at the bottom) and Sacramento (548) in image 413 (Left side at the top.

Good luck in your search.

Laura

I took a look at the online Family Search catalog for Tepetongo. There are two entires for church records. The first does not give any clues as to whether or not the 1861 church records exist, but the second shows gaps for 1860 and 1861. This suggests that the records may be lost, or at best not microfilmed.

Sometimes the records are out of order, or may exist in a another volume. However, from what I see, I'm not optimistic. But I would look in the marriage and IM volumes that cover that period just in case. Check the next volume of baptisms just to be sure.

Civil registration of births in Tepetongo begins in 1861. My experience has been that you often cannot find both church and civil entires for the children; you'll sometimes different children in each.

Sorry for the less-than-optimistic news.

Minerva,

There was a Francisco de Isassi m. Nicolasa Baez de la Cerda Dec. 01 1668 in Sta. Ma. de los Lagos too. This Francisco might be the witness. I'll continue my search in this direction.

Thanks for your comment.

Comentario

Hi Ruben,
I am not familiar with this family but Francisco Issasi was one of the witnesses listed on the marriage certificate of Juan Garcia and Rosa Maria.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-VY9F-KW?i=143&wc=3JZR-SP8%…

Did Domingo de Fonseca and Felipa de Issasi have a kid named Francisco who could have been old enough to be a witness at his sister wedding? Or do you know if Felipa de Issasi had a brother named Francisco? Maybe that could be further proof that Rosa Maria is daughter of Domingo de Fonseca and Felipa de Issasi.

Sorry I wish I could help more. Good luck on your search.

Searching for information on Antonio Pantaleon or Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez

Hi everyone.

Looking for help in finding records on:
(1) Antonio Pantaleon &
(2) Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez (Antonio's owner and possible father).

Comentario

Mario,

the father of Ana Maria Placencia is Cristobal Placencia.

Josepha Ruiz and Cristobal Placencia baptised a boy in 1740 in Jalostitlan and they baptized a girl in 1742 in Jalostitlan

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NK91-DGH

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NKSM-7KM

I also looked up this one where Josepha Ruiz and Xptobal(Cristobal) de la Trinidad baptised a girl named Juana Maria de Santiago, mulata libre, in 1755, so sometimes he didn't use Placencia as his last name. The padrinos were Juan de Dios Gutierrez and his daughter Maria Regina Gutierrez, probably relatives of your Gutierrez family.

Comentario

Danny, thank for making out the name "Cristobal" out of Xptobal. I don't know how long I looked at that document to figure it out with no luck. Now, it looks clear to me after you point it out.

I was also thinking that Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez, slave owner of Antonio Placencia, could be the father--illegitimate of course of Antonio Placencia.

Do you have any suggestions on how I could find information on Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez?

Again, thank you for the helping me find more leads.

Have a nice day!
--Mario A. Gutierrez

Comentario

Mario,

i don't really know how to figure out if Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez is the father of Antonio Pantoleon, although it seems like it makes sense since the mother lists the father as padres no conocidos, but unless you find another record that lists him as the father it's probly going to be hard to figure out.

i also dont know who Antonio Gil Gutierrez is, but he may be connected to this family here:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9392-XYBZ-K

this is a marriage for Don Jose Antonio Gutierrez and Doña Maria Andrea Iñiguez in 1802. Don Antonio Gutierrez parents in this marriage are Don Andres Gutierrez and Doña Margarita Placencia, both would probly been married close to you Antonio Pantoleon, so they might be related to your Don Antonio Gil Gutierrez. I don't know anything about this family really other than they also use the name Gutierrez de Hermosillo.

Hola Sotero,

For my fellow genealogists:

Maria de Islas y Sotomayor indicated in her will dated 8 Feb 1713 that she and her late husband Agustin Lopez de la Cerda had five children (Felix Juan el mayor, Juan el menor, Agustina, Esteban and Antonio) and that they all married. Her testament can be accessed online in the Aguascalientes archives.

Felix Juan el mayor age 29 married 6 Feb 1701 AGS to Elvira Lopez Muñoz (aka Elvira de Cobos), hija legitima de Miguel de Cobos and Teresa Lopes Muños. I stress hija legitima because Elvira’s mother was deceased and her father was a priest when Elvira married. On that same day in AGS Juan el menor age 27 married Teresa Lopez Muñoz (aka Teresa de Cobos), sister of Elvira. When the brothers provided their marriage information on January 17 and 18, 1701, one of their witnesses was Francisco Martin de Sotomayor, their primo hermano.

It appears that 1701 was a busy year for the Lopez de la Cerda family. On 20 Dec 1701 the two younger brothers also gave

Bill, Alice & Jose,

I'm glad someone responded to my email from February and hopefully we can
collaborate on the Lopez de la Serda name. I have the following:

Juan Manuel Lopez de Cerda casado con Maria Guadalupe Farfan on April 25,
1792 in Teocaltiche Jalisco. Juan Manuel was babtized June 28, 1750 in
Teocaltiche, Jalisco (nacio en Rio Chico, Jalisco) and his parents are
listed as Phelipe Lopez and Juana Perez.

I have Phelipe Lopez de la Serda casado con Juana Perez de Frias on May 21,
1749 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco (vecinos de Rio Chico, Jalisco) and their
parents are listed as: Matheo Lopez de la Serda and Jacinta Marin and
Fabian Perez de Frias (difunto) and Rosa Flores, respectively.

My trail for the Lopez de la Serda, Marin, Perez de Frias, and Flores ends
here. Do you guys have anymore info on these people?

Bill thanks for your information, maybe I can tie Phelipe Lopez de Serda to
the Agustin, Josepha or Simona as you have listed in your response.

Saludos,
BILL FIGUEROA

buen dia bill Figueroa

HOLA BILL
UN CORDIAL SALUDO
UNA PREGUNTA
COMO PUEDO DEMOSTRAR QUIENES ERAN LOS PADRES DE ANTONIO LOPEZ DE LA CERDA ESPOSO DE JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS?

TENGO DOCUMENTADO QUE LORENZA LOPEZ DELA SERDA VIUDA DE DIEGO DELGADO CASADA CON IGNACIO RUIZ EN EL DISPENSA SE MENCIONAN LOS PADRES DE LORENZA QUE SON ANTONIO LOPEZ DE LA SERDA Y JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS.Y EN EL MATRIMONIO DE ESTA ULTIMA PAREJA SOLAMENTE SE MENCIONAN LOS PADRES DE JOSEPHA ALONSO DE LOS HINOJOS LOS DE ANTONIO DICE QUE SE DESCONOCEN LOS PADRES .

EXISTEN ALGUN DOCUMENTO DONDE PUEDA DEMOSTRAR QUIENES ERAN SUS PADRES ?
UNA DISPENSA O UN TESTAMENTO?

TE LO AGRADECERIA MUCHO

QUE TENGAS UN BUEN DIA
SALUDOS

Does anyone know whether Bill Figueroa is still part of this group? I was researching a recent find where my ancestors are from this family line, specifically Simona Lopes de la Cerda and Nicolas Martin. I'd like to find Bill's sources to keep on researching this family line. Thank you.

Juan, Alice & Jose,

. . .

Josepha married Isidro Martin de Sotomayor (date unknown) and Simona married Nicolas Martin de Sotomayor (17 Sep 1667) in Teocaltiche. Nicolas, Isidro and Maria were brothers and sister. As far as I know, only the children of Agustin and Maria carried the surname Lopez de la Cerda in Teocaltiche and Aguascalientes.

BILL FIGUEROA"
