Fabricas de Cigaros and Tabaco Mexico Colonial

I have been going through the mapas/planos of Mexico in the Sevilla, Spain archives and have found so many interesting things.

I saw planos of buildings in Mexico where they produced Cigars. Also there is a map of the location of the cigar factories. The tobaco business in Mexico during colonial times?

Francisco Gutierrez de Hermosillo

Hola Raza, I am trying to find out if Francisco Gutierrez de Hermosillo who married Maria Dolores Gomez de Mendoza on Nov.19, 1730 in Tepatitlan and Tomasa Garcia on Dec.03. 1714 in San Juan de Los lagos is the same Francisco Gutierrez de Hermosillo. I couldn't find the marriage in Tepatitlan to see if it state that Francisco was a widower of Tomasa Garcia but couldn't find it nor the record of the one in San Juan de Los lagos. Either I am blind or some body made an error.
Thank you for time and thank you Joseph.

Anyone found Maps/Planos of Valparaiso, Zacatecas or Huejuquilla?

I am looking through PARS websites in the mapas and planos section. I have a friend who is a historian in Zacatecas and is interested in any maps or planos of Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico or the Hacienda San Mateo. If any of you out there are searching maps in the PARS or other websites, can you help? Thank you.

I found several villages of Jalisco and also found another one the plano of Bolanos, Jalisco, Mexico

Los Altos -Mulatos ??

Hola Linda , I understand that the Espanoles kept to themselves but by looking at the records ,there are tons of Mulatos to the point( I think) there could of been some Mulato Groups/colonies/Individuals still around, It looks like they were magicians and went poof, gone . For in example :I was told by a distant relative who lived in El Rancho del Refugio (between San Miguel el Alto, San Jose de Los Reynoso and San Julian area(Jalisco),that a Rancho named La Puerta del Sauz(de Ramirez) that there 200 Slaves housed/lived there. I believe it was probably around 1800 give or take a few years. Well I still ponder where did these guys go or what happened to them. I don' t know ,maybe they just inter married I guess.

Frustration! Mulato or Español?

Just venting.

I found another entry of the marriage of Cristobal Manuel Castañeda Cobarrubias and Nicolasa Romero Godina. This one says Castañeda was a español. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18453-8557-31?cc=1874591&wc=…

But the marriage dispensation I have says he's mulato. I downloaded a copy of the dispensation (I think their grandmothers were sisters), but I didn't copy the url! Where do I find this again?

BTW, I did come up with a bit of African DNA, so I figured his being a mulato must be true.

Thanks,
Laura

Microfilm No. 169026 Testamentos (1659 - 1843)

Today I justed started scrolling through the beginning of Testamentos Microfilm year 1659 - 1843. Starts out year 1675 Tecolotlan. I am impressed with how clear, neatly written the documents are. I was reading a Testament of a person name Manuela Marin Del Valle. So many differnt kinds of information such as "La Tienda" and has lists of items along with their value. Then another list called, "Cabrales" which is a long list of names of poeple and how much they owe. Then list of belongings such as tierras, ropa, etc. Then I saw something called, "Fabricas y efectos en La Estancia De San Antonio. Which San Antonio is this? Here are copies I made:

http://oi58.tinypic.com/2z7q5c0.jpg

http://oi58.tinypic.com/2rf314y.jpg

I was also reading another list and what caught my atention is this line which may seem to make reference to name of a ship that sailed from Cadiz, Espana to Veracruz:

"Se han pagado el Maestre del Navio El Annoganite por la conduccion de otras caxones desde Cadiz a Veracruz."

I have only looked through the first few pages before I had to leave the LDS Center. I only had an hour. But so many different kinds of lists. I hope to find testamentos of my ancestors. Such as my ggggggg grandparents Antonio Madera (1660 - 1709?) Maria De La Candelaria Angon (1655 - 1735)

Frigate "San Carlos" at Port San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico 1775

Reading about the Frigate “San Carlos” that embarked in the port of San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico in 11/26/1775. Then traveled up north to San Francisco. Commanded by Juan De Ayala. I am just learning that there is a port in San Blas, Nayarit, on the Pacific side of Mexico. I looked it up and the old structures are still there.

Calvillo, Macías, Ponce, Vásquez, Garcia

Hello everyone,

My name is Christopher de Cuéllar and I'm very new to geneaology and very new to the group. I've only been doing geneaology for about a month. My father died when I was very young so I never really knew much about my ancestors. That's probably why I started becoming interested in geneaology. I'm currently in high school and am trying to accomplish as much research during the winter break as possible. Mainly, spending all my free time pulling records I can find on family search. Also, if there's anyone that could assist in occasionally translating records for me, I would really appreciate it. I have dyslexia which really hasn't been a problem for me lately, but for some reason the ancient cursive writing on marriage and baptism records gives me a problem.

I'm currently researching my ancestors the Calvillo, Macías and Ponce families from Aguascalientes and the Vásquez and Garcia families from Guadalajara, Jalisco. Right now, I'm mainly interested in Francisco Xavier Calvillo that married María Michaela Macías at El Sagrario, Aguascalientes on 24 May 1753 and their ancestors. Also, interested in Gregorio Ponce that married María Gertrudis Rangel on 6 Feb 1796 and their ancestors.

In Guadalajara, the only record I have for my Vásquez ancestor is Miguel Vasquez born 29 Sept 1896 in Guadalajara and baptised on 19 Oct 1896 at Iglesia Parroquial de Jesus, Guadalajara. On his baptism it lists his parents as Cecilio Vásquez and Flora Garcia and his paternal grandparents as Leonardo Vásquez and Susana Garcia. It lists his maternal grandparents as Sinforiano Garcia and Donaciana Vejar. I'm especially looking for information on them.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance."

Los Altos-Mulatos ?

Hola , I believe that the Mulatos were looking at a chance of freedom but maybe the owners (after/during the revolution) sent them away seeing that couldn't feed them and had no labor force . Maybe the Mulatos observing all this decided to split. But there were so many Its hard to conceive they just disappeared.

FTDNA

Has anyone had any good results from using FTDNA.com ? I just transferred my data from Ancestry.com to FTDNA and while it only took an hour for results to come in, it doesn't show a lot of information. I have not paid for the full version of the website, not sure if it is worth it.
Anyone have any experiences using this site or any other?

What Spanish Ports used during XVI?

There are three ports in Spain that were there during XVI period:

Puerto San Sebastian:

http://oi60.tinypic.com/142fsp2.jpg

Puerto Santander:

http://oi57.tinypic.com/2ym9bm1.jpg

Puerto Sevilla:

http://oi58.tinypic.com/s3zkte.jpg

Included are the three pictures. Most of the spanish explorers that arrived to Zacatecas were from the Basque region from "Gipuzkoa" such as Francisco Ibarra, etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gipuzkoa

The ports of San Sebastian and Santander are located in the northern side of Spain near the Basque region. So I wonder if that is where they embarked rather than Sevilla which is at the very south side of Spain.

Question regarding Sagrario de Zacatecas

Is anyone familiar with Sagrario de Zacatecas??? What towns belonged to this parish in the early 1600-1700's. Also, why did it change names to Iglesia de Santo Domingo in the later colonial years.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15210-22038-32?cc=1804458&wc…

Is it similar to Archdiocese de Guadalajara???

I noticed their records go back to as early as 1605. In their "Baptism" records were "Marriages" mixed in.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-11200-31852-57?cc=1804458&wc…

Also, under "Marriages 1712-1753" were important legal documents with seals that date back to as early as 1634. Some of these documents mention, "Capitanes" "Minas" "Duque de Alburque" These legal documents begin on image 404 and continue for about 100 pages.

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15210-22038-32?cc=1804458&wc…

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15210-21982-81?cc=1804458&wc…

Does anyone know what this documents are that would require 3-4 seals???

Thanks

Ruben

Manuela Madera (1686 - 1738) - Sister of my GGGGGG Grandfather Joseph Madera of Minillas, Mezquitic, Jalisco, Mexico

I have some copies of the sister of my GGGGGG Grandfather Joseph Madera (1684 - 1734). Her name is "Manuela Madera" Copy of her bautismo June 23, 1686:

http://oi58.tinypic.com/28jgpoz.jpg

Her parents are my GGGGGGG Grandparents Antonio Madera and Maria De La Candelaria.

This is where I ask any of nuestros ranchos members about where it says "Manuela de Antonio de Los Angeles" Antonio de Los Angeles could be referring to where my GGGGGGG Grandfather Antonio Madera was from? "Los Angeles?" is there a town name Los Angeles and where is it? My GGGGGGG Grandparents Antonio Madera and Maria De La Candelaria resided in Minillas, Mesquitic, Jalisco, Mexico.

In 1707 She was Madrina with her brother (Juan or Joseph? Can't read or make it out). It says "con su hermana Manuela Madera:

She got married in on March 2, 1709 with Xristobal Robles:
