Hace mucho no entro aqui!

Following the discussion last week regarding Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (Viejo) and his son, Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (Mozo); I was wondering if anyone had any information on the parentage of El Vie
I am related to the Sanchez de Porras family and I have put alot of research into them. Geronimo Sanchez de Porras, el Viejo's parents are Diego Sanchez de Porras and Elvira Sanchez. They were married in 1626 in Aguascalientes and had, to my knowledge, only one son. Geronimo was born in Aguascalientes in 1627.
I found that death record as well and I believe it to be that of Geronimo Sanchez de Porras's father. It is strange that the record says he is soltero.
I believe Jaime Holcombe discusses Elvira'a parentage in his letters.

Hello Sergio Sales
This is fantastic!!! Your diligence is paying off!! I'm sure you are aware, but one thing I want to point out is that in the marriage of Francisco de la Cueva to Maria Barillas his father is named Francisco Beltran de la Cueva.

I too am convinced that the husband of married to Thomasina de Velasco and Catalina Vera y Monrroy are the same person; however we must have the primary documents to support this claim. With your hard work, Katy's whirlwind, and work by others we will achieve success!!!
Congratulations on this find!!

Espero porder hacerlo pronto.
Hola Steve, Ya me suenan conocidos algunos de los nombres, solo que necesito actualizar mi arbol;

Hello everyone, can someone please tell me if records ever existed for Apozol, Jalpa and Juchipila, Zac. prior to 1800.
Hola Ruben,
I have also found records in Cuquio, Yahualica and Teocaltiche in Jalisco for Juchipila, Amoxochitl and Apozol prior to 1800. Search there.
For Jalpa specifically I wouldn't be surprised to find them in Nochistlan.
Hope that helps!
I am really interested in finding more Amoxochitl records.
Me too! I have looked in Cuquio, etc and have found some but not many.
Hi Ruben,
La Villita in Jalpa is my primary area of research so I'm very familiar with the lack of records. That being said, I've been able to find documents from Jalpa related to my family going back to before 1690. I have collected some of the names in my webpage: www.arturogonzalez.com/ourfamilies/persons.html
I have together my family trees from various sources some of which are not available online: 1. 1820 Jalpa Census (order film), 2. marriage dispensations from the Guadalajara Diocesis and Jalpa Church (both online) as well as Jalpa civil records (online), 3. Tierra y Aguas archive (order films), and 4. 1819-1827 Marriage book (privately obtained).
Like I said, these various pieces of information helped identify my relatives, including my 8XGreat grandparents, going back into the 1600s. I also found many, many maps of the land grants given (and fought over) to the families of Jalpa and surrounding areas like Huanusco, Calvillo, La Villita, etc. With these old maps and
Thank You Arturo,
I took a look at the link you provided and I see many familiar names already. One name that stands out right away is Juan Duran and Regina de Aguayo. They are my 9x GGP's.
If you are interested in the rest of their family, here is a link I received from Family Library in Utah. From "Genealogia de Nochistlan, Antiguo Reino de la Nueva Galicia en el Siglo XVII segun sus Archivos Parroquiales."

Arturo, one last thing.
Are you familiar with the book "Census Records for Latin America and the Hispanic U.S." by Lyman de Platt
There is census records for Jalpa going back to 1760. If you are familiar with the book, do you know if we can view the microfilm online and does it even have family names?
There is a pdf page on this site under Files> Books and Articles> Census records for Latin America by Lyman Platt> Aguas Calientes y Zacatecas.
It only gives microfilm info.
Ruben
I would not rule out Tlaltenango, Zacatecas as a place to look as well. I have an ancestor that lived in Aguascalientes and found her buried in Tlaltenango. It was a crazy find.
Alicia Avelar Olmos de Carrillo
Ruben,
Historically, Juchipila and Jalpa were among the early towns that were settled during the colonial period, but unfortunately many of the records were lost or burned during the Revolution. My great aunt says her grandmother used to tell her stories of how they would enter the churches on horseback with torches and set the churches on fire in Jalpa. For about 10 years, I searched for records of my Olmos lineage and in January of 2012, I finally found a marriage record in Jalpa dating back to 1834. This was a big aha moment, knowing that my ancestors did not just appear out of the blue, their records are the ones that had disappeared. Most of my ancestors are from Nochistlan up until the early 1800's. As I trace further back, prior to Nochistlan, they were from Teocaltiche Jalisco and some were from Jalpa and still others from Tabasco or Villa del Refugio Mecatabasco. It's the ones who were from Jalpa that were elusive because of the lack of physical
Thank you Alicia, you put it best "Our ancestors did not just appear out of the blue"
I always figured these records existed at one point and probably destroyed during Revolution and Cristero Wars.
I will try nearby towns for clues.
Thanks
Ruben
I am researching a couple from Villa de Obregon (Canadas) named Ignacio Lomeli and Petra Villalpando.
On on earlier post someone else asked the same thing and I responded that many of these entries are found in Jalos. But I am looking for a marriage record in 1914. Doesn't Cañadas keep any records?
Ps. I followed the advice that I gave a couple of months ago to check in Jalos and found the information that I was looking for.
The marriage record for Gabriel de Lomelin to Melchora de los Reyes in 1673 Nochistlan states that they were dispenses. Has anyone seen this dispensa?
well i couldn't find one for this couple on familysearch yet. this wouldn't be the first time where i find a regular marriage record mentioning a dispensation for the couple in question, but yet not finding it. i can't find one for my ancestors bartolome de luna and josefa lorenza de haro either.
Ill keep a lookout for yours. Thanks for all of your work indexing!!!!

So we should just sign into the website to view all postings (announce, research and the other one) and not expect to receive postings via e-mail? Is there a problem that recently came up with the software?
Many websites charge for membership, and as valuable as this one has been, I don't think most of us would mind paying for an annual membership in order to keep the website available, in my opinion

Hi Emilie,
You don't actually have to sign in to view the postings, they're there for everyone to see. It's actually easier to read them on the website, because sometimes the thread goes back weeks, months or even years. Even if there were no issue with the messaging system, you would only be reading the reply to the previous post, whereas, going to the website allows you to read the thread in it's entirety. Also, the messages are in order, and, on the right hand side, under Research Forum Topics, General Forum Topics and Announcement Forum Topics, are the three threads, under each heading, with the most recent activity.

Hi Yolanda,
I don't actually know were Rancho de Tellos is and I only have one Tello in
my tree, Marcella Tello de Lomas, but, I know that no one will really be
able to help you unless you give specific names of people you're looking
for.
Paige
Welcome to the forum, Yolanda. Are you looking for anyone specific?
Paige
Hi Paige! So wonderful you sent me a question. Gosh, where do I begin. I'm looking for my Tello ancestors whose names I have, but the stories are so hard to connect with what I know and have discovered. I wish I could find more information about my ancestors who came from San Pedro Ocampo, Zacatecas but ended in Saltillo, Coahuila. That is where my great grandfather Anastacio died. I have his death record. I've been looking for his birth record.
Have you head of a Rancho de los Tellos?
Please take a moment to view my ancestor file.
Yolanda,
Welcome to the wonderful frustrating satisfying world of research. It's a place you will be excited to find a birth or marriage record and cry when you find they lost their children to Spanish Flu, hunger and scorpion stings. You will learn the history of Mexico in good and hard times. You will discover a sense of pride know how strong and courageous they were.
My Castanon/Caldera family left Jerez, Zacatecas in 1916 when the revolution hit their village and they had nothing left except their lives.
I do have Tello and Tello de Orosco in my files.
In Zamora, Michoacan in the early years then in Jerez and Tepetongo, Zac. My earliest in Michoacan would be Simon Tello abt 1640 married to Geronima Mendez de Torres.
My earliest in Zacatecas would be Francisca Tello Orosco abt 1625 married to Diego Carrillo de Avila.
I have put my files on Rootsweb.com, file name Mexico.

Hi. Have been extremely busy with much and finally had time to check my Ranchos conversation room. How far into the present did you find the name Tello Orosco and dd you find any where the Orosco was dropped? I find many Tello within the Tello Orosco that appear to be related since the same names are passed down several generations. My ancestors moved around so much and it's difficult to confirm them. They also married a few of times and have not found marriage certificates to verify if they are the same people. Do you suspect the Orosco was dropped by some of your ancestors?
Hello Yolanda
Welcome aboard and it is good to have another Tello de Orosco family member. My first Tello de Orosco family member is my 5x Great grandmother Maria Cresencia Teyo married to Jose Acevedo Santillan on the 17th of Feb. 1830 in Nochistlan Zacatecas. Below is the link of the doc, image # 184.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15186-10690-98?cc=1804458&wc…
As you can see the name Tello is spelled Teyo, you can also find it under Thello. Two generations earlier my 7x great grandfather Jph. Mariano Thello is getting Married to Maria Manuela de Sandoval on the 15th of May 1775 in Nochistlan Zacatecas. The image # is 473 and here is the link. In the doc. it also states that he is originario del Real Minas del Mesquital

Hi Danny,
I think I probably should join, Luisa de Rubalcava is my 4th Great Grandmother, I didn't realize we were that closely related. There's the answer to why we have a lot of the same ancestors. It looks like Manuel Alonso is the first non living person on your tree that you descend from, I don't know who that is and I don't have him in my records, but his parents are my 3rd Great Grandparents, so I think we're about 4th cousins. I'll sign up Danny and you can help me.

Danny C. Alonso
Hello Danny. Thanks for your replies and willingness to help. I will look into the Wikitree you mention, don't know anything about it. In your various posts, you mention some names that are also very common among my family tree. You are correct, I do find the spelling of Tello as Teyo, Tellos, Tello de Orosco and Thello. Ruvalcaba is another name I see often on the documents. My stumbling block is that I can't confirm if my people moved and established roots beyond the cities of Saltillo Coahuila and Melchor Ocampo Zacatecas. They had families in practically every town in Zacatecas, just can't tie them to my core parent.
I am not sure if the name is Jesus or Juan Antonio Vicente, ch. 26 Nov
1829, but I also have a hard time reading the parents names. I you could

Dear Gloria,
I send you a million thanks for your help,
Rick A Ricci
You're very welcome. I did not find a civil registration record for Paula Sanchez & I did not find her parents marriage record 1901-1905. Do you know how to search the familysearch.org records?
Hello Gloria,
I have used familysearch.org for years. I go back to the time when I used to look through family search records before they had computers.
I could not find Paula Sanchez records but did find her in the census of 1930. I already had Paula's parents and was looking for her grandparents. I had been told that the paternal grandfather was named Roque but it turned out that her maternal grandfather was the Roque and that is the information that was throwing me off track. I had already searched for some of the siblings records but could not find them. I thought I would ask for help on nuestroranchos just in case someone else was also working on this line. I was going to go back and search again when you posted the information that I was looking for.
I am related to this family through Paula Sanchez's husband. He is a cousin to my paternal grandfather. I descend from Jose Maximo Franco y Barba (he reversed his surnames at times and was aka as Maximo Martin Franco y

I found this very nice dispensa (thanks to Katy's website) for the marriage of Isabel Sanchez de Porras to Miguel de la Mora Hurtado de Mendoza widow of Getrudis de Alderete
I also confirmed today that Juana Suarez de Ibarra and Maria Anna Suarez de Ibarra are sisters. This was probably a suspicion for all but I confirmed it for myself. Also surprisingly...Juana Suarez de Ibarra married el Viejo after Leonor Gonzalez de Hermosillo passed away while el Mozo married Maria Anna Suarez de Ibarra. Ill post the document that proves this by Monday
Here is the dispensa I promised.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18427-69205-18?cc=1874591&wc…
The dispensa shows that
Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (el mozo) 1 Juan Antonio Sanchez de Porras
Francisco Sanchez de Porras 2 Maria Anna Sanchez de Porras
Joseph Estevan Sanchez de Porras 3
and
Mariana Suarez de Ibarra 1 Juana Suarez de Ibarra
Francisco Sanchez de Porras 2 Juan Antonio Sanchez de Porras
Joseph Estevan Sanchez de Porras 3 Maria Anna Sanchez de Porras
After Leonor Gonzalez de Hermosillo died in 1673, Geronimo Sanchez de Porras, el Viejo, married Juana Sanchez de Porras in 1677. Juan Antonio Sanchez de Porras is the only son I know of from this couple.

Thank you for providing this easy to understand review of this dispensa. It helped me realize that some parts of my tree was incorrect (too many Leonors and Juans). As for Geronimo Sanchez de Porras (Viejo and Mozo) I also found an Orden, thanks to the labors of Katy Brecht, for Juan Manuel Sanchez de Porras; son and grandson that demonstrates that they were two separate people. Another reason to work only with primary sources.

I have been working on an index for this film of Aguascalientes matrimonial investigations, which is nominally from the period 1733/34.
Thank you Manny that was great. I didn't know any of that or anything about
a capellania. It's very interesting to know how they lived in ancient times.

Danny, what did Manny say it was? I don't seem to get all the messages.

Emilie I don't think I'm getting all the messages too and this one looks
like it posted to a whole different post that wasnt the post we were on. I
dont know why. This is the original thread we were on that has the post
Manny wrote.
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/node/21790?page=5
and he gave me this list of spanish words that has a lot of great stuff.

Danny C. Alonso
The following image lists three recipients (capellanes) in the last bracket, and on that image and the following it says that the Yndios de Nochistlan were the founders of the capellanía.
Victoriano Navarro
so i'm guessing the recipients of that capallanes have some indigenous ancestry in them right(particularlly from the indigenous peoples of nochistlan area)?
Probably. On image 432 it says that the recipient should be "un hijo del pueblo", and on next image it says "intentamos imponer y fundar la referida capellania a favor de un hijo de este pueblo para que a su vista nuestros hijos se alienten y quieran salir de la miseria en que se hallan para ser sacerdotes". A transcription of the full document could clarify if this was actually the case.

Dear Tomas--
I have been studying your family lines. I have three children for Don Jose Rafael VILLARRUEL and Dona Maria Antonia GALLAGA, the first of the three born about 1785. I do not have the other two wives for Jose Antonio Rafael VILLARROEL Castellanos, whose birth I was guessing was about 1755. I did not have his parents. Do you have parents for Don Maria Antonia GALLAGA?

Tambien ...

-Daniel

Mariano Gonzalez Leal, Jorge Luis Ramirez Gomez and Daniel Mendez Torres have previously commented on the descendants of Sylvestre Camacho Riquelme using the Fernandez de Córdoba surname. They stated that this shows descendancy from the Fernandez Córdoba family in Spain. The theory that Sylvestre Camacho Riquelme's mother is Fernandez Córdoba is not necessarily accurate as the connection between the Fernandez de Córdoba and the Camacho family extends into Spain. Gonzalo Fernandez Córdoba in Spain in the 1400's and 1500's can be found in records. He is also known as Gonzalo Fernandez Camacho. This shows that Sylvester Camacho Riquelme's father may be the connection to the Fernandez Córdoba

Hi, my name is Barb Walker Terrones and I am a new member to this group. I have been researching my Walker tree for ten years and now am working on my husband's family, the Terrones family.
Hello, my name is Elena Becerra Woodard. Through my mother’s family, I believe I am related to both of you. My research shows that my ancestors from my grandmother on my mother’s side were in the Chinampas, Jalisco area for at least 250 years, before migrating to the US in 1898, settling in Colton, CA.
I am a direct descendent of the following people from Chinampas:
My grandmother: Felipa Canales (1890 – 1981)
Her parents: Simon Canales (1858 – 1955) m. Epimenia Contreras (1861 – 1902)
Juan Andres Canales (b. 1823) m. Maria Casilda Cuellar (b. 1829)
Jose Sixto Cuellar (b. abt 1780) m. Maria Felipa Sanchez (b. abt 1780)
Miguel Sanchez (b. abt 1760) m. Gregoria de Lira (b. abt 1760)
Antonio Atanacio Basilio Cuellar (b. 1765) m. Ana Maria Collazo (b. 1759)
Juan Cristomo Collaso (b. 1736) m. Maria Celedonia Delgado ( b. 1730)
Juan Delgado (b. 1703) m. Maria Ysabel de Peres y Gutierres (b. 1704)
Lorenzo Delgado (b. 1676) m. Juana de la Cruz (1675)
Lazaro Delgado ( b. 1655) m. Nicolasa
Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the community. I’ve very well-researched on Ojuelos (Cienega and Sr San Jose), as well as San Matias, Pinos, and Asientos, Ags; most of my lines were settled in that area by the early-1700s, and oddly enough, none of mine have intermarried with any Terrones.
I do descend from the Lira on Chinampas, though from an earlier generation, so I don’t have your Manuela de la Trinidad. My ancestor was Margarita de Lira, baptized 7 Jun 1688, born on Chinampas. She married Francisco Becerra, her parents were Juan de Lira and Maria de la Cruz aka Maria de la Rosa aka Maria de la Concepcion aka Maria de la Encarnacion. Juan de Lira and Maria de la Cruz were either Mestizos, Mulatos Libres, Indios, or Coyotes, depending on the record (my Margarita was born Mulata Libre, but was India when she wedded). There were probably 2 Juan de Lira’s married to Maria's living on Chinampas in the same timeline, so I’m still not 100%, but I’ve sifted through the records and have
Hi Manny,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your information on the Lira line. I will take your suggestion and start there.
My mother-in-law, Rosita Aranda, daughter of Trinidad Guerrero Aranda and Alejandra Sanchez married my father-in-law, Epifanio "Alberto" Lopez, son of Juan Martinez Terrones and Antonia Lopez, all of Chinampas, Mexico.
Sadly, my mother-law, Rosa, just passed away Monday night. Her daughters and I were hoping to have more information for her regarding the Aranda and Terrones lines.
But I will continue my research for my four children and my Terrones, sister-in-laws, who are very interested in my research.
Barb
I have been a fan of the internet conversations for the last 6 months and now I can be part of those conversations. Thank you to all for all the great work presented, I hope my contribution will be of value and not a repetition for you seasoned members. Sarod77, welcome to the group. Is there a specific person or couple who

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GZB-ZNH?cc=1860864&wc=MC4….
Florentina Delgado Married Jose Rafael Rodriguez Contreras. The information I found for Rafael is as follows: son of Jose Tomas Rodriguez Alonzo and Maria Dorotea Contreras Lira
Jose Tomas Rodriguez Alonzo is son of Manuel Rodriguez and Petra Alonzo sometimes it has Maria Marta Alonzo on birth records.
The record I have for manuel rodriguez and Petra Alonzo does not match what I have been told of Florentina (this family can be found on familysearch the Delgados were originally from Pinos). Was Penon part of Zacatecas at one time. I have looked for records and I see a place called Penon not sure if its the same. Anyway her family owned half of Azogueros in Salinas del Penon Blanco, San Luis Potosi, Mexico that was left to her (this is oral history or legend of the family) she
I would be careful with family legend, many turn out to be false. At
least, in my family, I'm not sure why they made up so many stories, but
they did. And, I've heard similar things from others. I would also
disregard records from Spain, it's most likely just a person or couple with
a similar name. And, there's really no place to look for hijos de padres no
conocidos, that usually means the child was abandoned at birth. When you
see that, it's pretty much the end of the line.
Paige
Hola primas,
"Hijo de padres no conocidos" doesn't necessarily mean a child has been abandoned; there were couples who, unmarried, might have one or more child together, and for some reason, when the child is baptized, they choose not to leave their names. My g6's, Andres Diaz de Leon and Dionicia Duron, lived together for almost 12 years, before they married, and they had 5 children; one of the reasons they gave for marrying, was to legitimize their children. Unfortunately, they never went back and amended the partidas for said children (not that I know of, anyways).
One of my great aunts, Victoriana Gonzalez and her husband, Miguel Macias de Anda, married 16 Feb 1746, in Aguascalientes. The previous year, they baptized a child, Maria Magdalena, on 25 Jul 1745; on the partida, she is listed as "de padres no conocidos," but in the margin, and after the parents married, you can see they went back and amended the entry (lower right):

Danny C. Alonso
Thank you Danny for finding and pointing out the Morquecho information on Wikitree. I added these profiles on Wikitree in hope of making a connection to my 7th Great Grandmother Maria Antonia Morquecho (http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Morquecho-2). Maria Antonia married Cristobal Martinez and were 'vecinos' of Penuelas near Aguascalientes, In Cristobal's burial record it states that he was 'originario' of Agostadero in the jurisdiction of Asientos. Any additional information on this couple would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Austin Perez
Hi Austin,
I read your last post, and you mentioned that Cristobal’s burial record said he was originally from Agostadero, jurisdiction of Asientos. There were lots of haciendas called “Agostadero,” but if it’s the one I’m thinking of, it lay between Asientos and Pinos, and today, is the municipal seat of Villa Garcia, Zacatecas. Like Real de Angeles, during different periods in the 1700’s, it would fall under the jurisdiction of one or the other parish, so you should also look in San Matias, Pinos.
I have a Cristobal Martin in my tree, son of Asencio Martin and Ynes Lopez aka Ynes de Urbina; Asencio Martin was son of Francisco Martin and Maria Rodriguez; Ynes Lopez daughter of Bernavel Lopez and Luisa de Olguin. Their marriage index: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:V5FZ-YQG
But I have Cristobal Martin married to Maria Antonia de Avila. They married 4 May 1732, in Pinos. The marriage took place on Aguagorda, which also appears in the Asientos archives, if my memory serves me
Hi Manny,
Thank you very much for sharing this information! The location, time and names seem to fit. I will start looking into this and see where it leads.

Hola Austin,

c) Eugenio de Avila, b. 10 Mar 1695, Aguascalientes
d) Matiana de Avila, b. 20 Mar 1698, Pinos, Zcatecas
e) Segundo de Avila, m.Antonia de la Canderlaria Rosa, 9 Oct 1729, Pinos, Zacatecas.
f) Jacinta Marina de Avila, b. 21 Sep 1702, Pinos, Zacatecas
g) Maria Antonia de Avila, m. Cristobal Martin, 3 May 1732, Pinos, Zacatecas
h) Gregorio de Avila, m. Andrea Dominguez Zamudio, 21 May 1736, Pinos, Zacatecas
Baltasar Gaitan, 15 Jun 1726, Pinos, Zacatecas.
Let me know if it's the right family, "Morquecho" could be a helpful clue.

thank you for the advice. I went back to my tree and found I had not finish linking Juana Gertrudes Gomes with Joseph Vicente Morquecho and Vicente's parents, Rodrigo Jacinto Morquecho y Phelipa de Quixas (Quijas) Escalante.
Mr. Agraz, This is a fabulous find!!! You have a very keen eye!! Thanks to Katy Brecht's work I'm sure we have all benefitted at one time or another.
There is no mention of Juan Gomez Rubio attending seminary or requesting ordenes. Since all of the testigos mention that the children of Alonso and Maria Gomez were baptized at the Convent of San Francisco in Cocula and that they attended the baptisms, and marriage of the parents; it appears to me that Juan's record of baptism cannot be located. He is therefore seeking testament to establish legal documentation that he is the son of Alonso Rubio and Maria Gomez and he is legitimate. Congratulations to you and thank you for sharing this gem.
