Spanish Abbreviations Assistance

Hello, I am trying to decipher the difference in the following abbreviations, or if they actually mean the same thing just written differently?
These are all in three different baptism records I am trying to figure out:

Ps (sorry, the "s" is supposed to be written as an exponent character, but can't find that option on my keyboard)
P. nos
P.P.

I know P.s is for padrinos, and P is for padre, but trying to figure out these other ones and how they all fit in.

If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.

Thank you!

Hernandez family

Hello my name is Ernestina Hernandez Sierra. It has been awhile since I've worked on my family tree due to serious illness in the family. Currently I am researching the Hernandez family. From my research it looks like starting with my great great great grandfather the family was from Cerrogordo Jalisco. Can any one tell me anything about this area. My grandfather was born in La Ordena? Is this a town? This is what I have found;
Grandfather Jose Ambrosia Hernandez Chaves born 7 Dec 1881 in La Ordena Jalisco
g-grandfater Pedro Hernandez born 1 July 1858 in Cerrogordo Jalisco
gg-grand Jose Andres Hernandez born 30 Nov 1824 in Cerrogordo Jalisco
ggg-grandfather Juan de dios born Aug 1790 in Cerrogordo, Jalisco
gggg- gramdfather Juan Franciso Hernandez- run into a dead end here.

My grandfather Ambrosia/o immigrated to the United States around the turn of the century.

Is there anyone out there that might be able to help with this.

Thank you so much
Ernestina

Mendozas from 1700's San Luis Potosi

I was wondering if anyone might be able to assist me in continuing my research into the Mendoza family surname. Using FamilySearch.org historical I have been able to trace back my paternal family line (Mendoza) to San Luis Potosi. The last record I have found was a marriage of my GGGG grandfather, Jose Salbador Mendoza, to Maria Bruna Gamez dated 27 May 1812 in the Pueblo de S.Geronimo. The age of Salbador Mendoza is listed as 20 so I reasoned that he should have been born in 1792+/-. This Document list my GGGGG Grandfather as Juan Nicolas Mendoza. Unfortunately this is as far as I have been able to go. I have attached the marriage document should anyone wish to look and see if they might find additional information.

Portugueses). La prueba de ADN que hice me puso a 80% Escandinavo-Aleman,
12% Mediterraneo, 4% Celtico y 4% de Siberia-Nativo Americano. Estudiando
mi linea Padilla de Avila y Reynoso he encontrado antepasados Sefarditos,
me acuerdo).
Raul

Aygre

A death record (1798) says an infant died of "Aygre". What is that? Same as Aigre? What does it mean? The only two definitions I've found don't help me much. One is "Flujo impetuoso del mar". Another source suggests it just means "air". If so, what condition does it describe?

Stories of Separation: Impact of Detention and Deportation on Latino Children's Attachment Representations

This is not about genealogy but I wanted to help spread the word about this project that Rosa’s daughter is working on. You all know I don’t abuse my privileges often so feel free to delete this email unless you happen to know someone who can help.

Thanks,

Hi Joseph!

I hope that this email finds you well! Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to work on my ancestry...I've been busy helping family members who have been ill and getting older. I'm writing to you with the hope that you would be open to helping me reach out to our Nuestros Ranchos group and any other group, family, and friends.

My daughter, Monique is completing her Family and Child Psychology doctorate dissertation on the impact of children who have had a primary caregiver deported or detained. She needs to find families for this very important study to share their experiences. Is it possible to ask you for your assistance in sending the information out to Nuestros Ranchos email group? Her study participants have to be living in California; however, it's important to share this study with everyone.

With her permission, I've added her intro below and I'm attaching the flyers in Spanish and English with all the details. Participants are encouraged to call her directly to ensure confidentiality. She is fluent in English and Spanish:) What do you say... would you help me spread the word? Thank you in advance!

Rosa

My name is Monique Gonzalez and I am a fifth year doctoral student from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco. I am currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, applying for my post-doctoral internship. I am in the process of working on my dissertation,

entitled: Stories of Separation: Impact of Detention and Deportation on Latino Children's Attachment Representations.

The purpose of my study is to shed light on the experiences and feelings of Latino children who are separated from their primary caregiver through detention and/or deportation. I will be conducting individual interviews with children throughout California.

Citizenship or immigration status of the children are not relevant and will not be asked, and children can speak either English or Spanish (or both).

Children must:

- Be of Latino/Hispanic descent

- Be between 9 to 12 years old

- Experienced the deportation or detention (in relation to deportation) of their primary caregiver within the last three years.

- Child must be separated from their caregiver at the time of interview.

Each participating family receives a $25 Visa Gift Card, and the child receives a gift of school supplies. I have attached two flyers, one in English and another in Spanish. If you know of a family with an eligible child, please feel free to forward them the attached flyer. Interested guardians can leave me a message with their contact information and I will call them back directly. OR if preferred, the family may provide you permission to forward their information to me; I am happy to get in touch with them. This is often easier and feels more comfortable for the families.

Your participation will not need to continue beyond this point. I believe this is a much needed area of research and your support is invaluable! The study is CONFIDENTIAL and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at CSPP-SF.

As you may all agree, this is an incredibly significant area of research that can provide families, advocates, and the psychological community a
deeper understanding of how to best support and provide culturally responsive interventions for these children. In my experience, thus far, it
truly helps when the family hears that you believe and trust in this study.

Mil gracias.

Dear Primos and Friends:

It is hard to believe that this December issue completes 15 years of monthly Somos Primos issues online. It has been a challenge, an education, and a joy. My historical understanding of U.S. history and the Spanish global presence has grown bit by bit, primarily through the varied submissions and family histories that readers have sent.

The wide diversity of information reflects the countless range of individual histories with a Latino connection. Every individual's story is unique, each different, a piece to the puzzle of humanity.

I have taken a simple approach: if you have a Spanish surname, you have a heritage connection to Spain, where the surname originated, and that makes you happily, a possible primo. . .

Since the heritage diversity among the Spanish language speakers in the Americas is based on the 500-year colonization period of the America, I am hopeful that as we learn our history back to the colonization period, we will find many primo connections.
I am hopeful too that as we find our historical and DNA roots connections to other groups, such as the Indigenous, African, European, Asian, and Jewish communities, it will increase understanding and respect for the cultures of others.

As we embrace diversity in the United States, we will be helping to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His message of love will be easier to emulate as we reinforce ourselves with historic facts and apply them to our activities in the present.

May you, your family, friends, and community rejoice, honor, and adore the Lord who brought the message of love and peace for all mankind.

MERRY CHIRSTMAS and warm hugs. . . Mimi

Francisco de Orozco ?

Hola Members ,I am trying to see how many Francisco de Orozcos there are cause I am getting confused.
I have a Francisco de Orozco born to a Francisco de Orozco and Magdalena Gomez de Portugal around 1645.
A Francisco de Orozco married to a Catalina de Arriola who had an Angela de Orozco marries to Juan Perez Gallo.
A Francisco de Orozco married to Ines de Villegas.
What am understanding (I think ) that Francisco was married 3 times. Magadalena Gomez de Portugal,Ines de Villegas and Catalina de Arriola. If so I don't know where Catalina de Arriola fits in. Any thoughts ?

Thank you for your time
Ronnie

Diego Ruiz-Nunes and Catalina or Luisa Catalinia Delgadillo

I've advanced my Ruiz line to Diego Ruiz-Nunes, md to Luisa or Catalina
Delgadillo, by way of their son, also Diego Ruz-Nunes and his wife, Anna
Gonzalez de Hermosillo, natural daughter of Pedro Gutierrez de Hermosillo.
Two of Diego and Anna's four children that I have identified where
baptized in Cuquio, Jalisco: Blas b. 6 Feb, 1676, md to 23 Jan 1718 in
Cuquio to Catharina de Lisarde; Diego b 15 Sep 1691. Their other two
children are Cayatano who md Juana Rovalcaba Estrada in Cuquio 4 Feb 1712,
and Paula, who md Melchor Rubalcaba y Rodriguez de Frias.

My sources are my research on familysearch.com and Retonos de la Nueva
Galicia, Tomo VII, p 179.

I have no idea where Diego Ruiz-Nunes and Luisa or Catalina Delgadillo
live. They probably were born mid1600s. Anyone else researching this
family?

I would appreciate any assistance or suggestions anyone might have.

Thank you.

PBS Finding Your Roots

I just watched the show (I'm on the East Coast). It was excellent! I am
wondering if Maria Cortez or anyone else can share how/where one goes about
testing Native American DNA at the level described in this episode by
Carlos Bustamante of Stanford University. Also, does anyone know how much
African DNA one needs to have to be able to obtain more specific
information re areas of origin in Africa than the larger regional areas
provided by FTDNA? And where one would get it done? I looked at the
23andMe website but it didn't really offer much information.

Hopefully this gets posted in time to encourage more member to watch the
program!

Jalpa Marriages, 1685-1712

I have a partial transcription of Libro 80 from marriages in Jalpa
covering 1685-1712.

I'm hoping that you can identify some of the names listed below. For
instance, I was able to ascertain that "Domingo Seballos i Castañeda"
is the same person that had been married to "Maria Garcia de la Vera"
in Nochistlan (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15187-51580-36?cc=1804458&wc…)

I'm listing only the entries with last names as those would be
identifiable. Apologies in advance for the lack of formatting, but I
tried separating the entries using an "|":

Chavez y Banuelos (Tlaltenango)

Hola,

Susana

hi,

I'm looking for the documental source to ensure that Bernarda Chavez y Banuelos (married to Thomas de Vela in Tlaltenango approx. 1660) was the daughter of Captain Juan de Chavez y Banuelos and Isabel de Soto y Ruiz Almeida. I found this information on several online genealogies published on-line; but unfortunately they don't list the source to link Bernarda to her father Juan. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Susana
