That must be a bug in the software.  I just tried running the same
procedure and the same thing happens:  I can preview the Index but
then it doesn't appear in the Word document.  I'm using PAF 5. Anyone?

Do we have a PAF Guru in the group?  I need some help. PLEASE  I know 
we have a number of members using PAF, I am hoping somebody can help me.

I am trying to create a file using the "Books"option and would like to 
include an index to go along with it.

I can create the file and its index by selecting the "Print to a file" 
option and by selecting the "index" option also. I preview it,  then I 
save it, but when I look at the saved file, the index is missing!

What am I doing wrong?  Any ideas?  Can it be a limitation to this 
program?  I have tried using Wordpad and also Microsoft Word to look at 
the saved file, same results.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

I also tried Spain.  I made a three month trip through Europe some years ago with the intention of searching everywhere. Finally in Barcelona I found a family who had a resonable account.  They had heard of two brothers, Basques, with the Garana surname who went to Mexico.  One died immediately, the other remained in Mexico.  I have since tried to make contact with them again but they have not responded.  And there was one other source in Cadiz.  An elderly attorney.  But by the time I neared Cadiz I was so tired and burned out.  The heat was too much and I hurried back to cooler country. 

 

One day I'll get a break.

I will keep trying and thanks for the suggestion.

Mary,

I guess this is just an idle question, but have you searched the
surname Grana and/or Grama?  

Also, if the person in question was associated with the Augustinians
and the Jesuits, have you considered the possibility that he was not
born in México but elsewhere?

Just some thoughts!

Jose,

A "Batch Number Search", is certain, way to search the IGI at
FamilySearch.org, where you can narrow your search parameters, down to 
the City and Parish Level.  Provided, that you know the batch numbers,
for the area where you are searching.  There are two places, to find
the Batch Numbers, one is the IGI itself (as you perform searches, you
can look at the bottom of the screen and see the source information,
such as film number, and the batch number, if one has been assigned.),
the second way, is by looking at the "Parish and Vital Records List",
that is only available on microfiche at your local FHC, if they still
have it.

The CD mentioned, is a resource disc, that I have compiled from
different sources, such as genealogy conferences, websites, and other
sources.  Because, there is lots of information available, about
hispanic research, but there is no central location, for it all. 
Also, on the disc, there is a scanned copy, of the "Parish and Vital
Records List", for Mexico.  

And the disc, is only available, by contacting me. There are several
members, in the Ranchos group, who have copies of the disc.  You may
want to ask, if they have found it useful.

Will you please check for my family names from Jalisco?? They are
Romero and de la Torre from the Guadalajara and Tepatitlan areas of
Jalisco. I'm not sure if they started there or moved there from
other areas. They were there at least from the mid to late 1800's.
