Thanks Charles for your reply.  I am aware of the various spellings and have looked into many variations already.  In fact my own last name has gone through changes during the last three generation, ie. Jaurigui, Jaurique, Jaurequi.
I do know of the Jose Luis Vazquez y Rodriguez de Frias' book but I haven't really looked into it.

Thanks again for your reply.

Digest Number 228

Dear Olivia:

I think you will find many more of your ancestors but with a different
spelling of Jaurequi if you try Xauregui. This is the case with my
grandparents, Pedro Rodriguez and Maria Ulloa de Rodriguez who have many
Xauregui ancestors. My grandfather was born in La Estancia and he and my
grandmother shared at least 16 common ancestors and most likely many more,
as I have been stuck in going back beyond 1700 in both the Rodriguez and
Ulloa lines. Some of my grandmother's other ancestors have been traced into
the 1600s and beyond.

Have you looked at Jose Luis Vazquez y Rodriguez de Frias' book?

Sincerely,

Charles Clark

Hello Joseph and Group.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this information out, but since joining the
group last June, I haven't really had much time to devote to my genealogy.
Zacatecas is the area of search for my father's side of the family. Although
I started my researching in 1974, it has only been over the last six years
that I've concentrated my father's side.

My grandparents-Juan Huerta Jaurique & Candelaria Magallanes Marques were
married in Mesilla, New Mexico on 24FEB1916. They had three daughters and
two sons.

Grandpa Juan was born in Estancia, Zacatecas on 24JUN1880; his parents were
Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta. He died in Las Cruces, New Mexico
13MAY1960. We know that he had another family in Mexico before marrying my
grandmother but no one seems to have any details about them. According to
census documents he came to the USA in 1909. I've been told he first went
to Arizona, then spent some time in the Detroit area before going to New
Mexico.

Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta were married in Nochistlan, Zacatecas on

Hello Joseph and Group.

Sorry it's taken so long to get this information out, but since joining the group last June, I haven't really had much time to devote to my genealogy.  Zacatecas is the area of search for my father's side of the family. Although I started my researching in 1974, it has only been over the last six years that I've concentrated my father's side.

My grandparents-Juan Huerta Jaurique & Candelaria Magallanes Marques were married in Mesilla, New Mexico on 24FEB1916.  They had three daughters and two sons.

Grandpa Juan was born in Estancia, Zacatecas on 24JUN1880; his parents were Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta.  He died in Las Cruces, New Mexico 13MAY1960.  We know that he had another family in Mexico before marrying my grandmother but no one seems to have any details about them.  According to census documents he came to the USA in 1909.  I've been told he first went to Arizona, then spent some time in the Detroit area before going to New Mexico.

Victor Jauregui and Petra Huerta were married in Nochistlan, Zacatecas on 15JUN1875 according to LDS records.  Except for their marriage record I have not found any other documentation on them relating to parents or children.  I still need to order the film with their marriage information and perhaps it will provide me with more details.  My father's family was told that Victor was born in Spain (Pais Vasco) and my father recalls that my grandpa Juan had talked about wanting to visit his father's family in "Oroz-Betelú".

My grandmother Candelaria was born in Sain Alto, Zacatecas on 2FEB1901.  She died 2AUG1928 in Las Cruces, New Mexico  Her parents were Juan Marques and Maria Juana Magallanes.

Juan Marques was born abt 1872 in Sain Alto, Zac. to Silvestre Marques and Maria Salome Lira

so far I can't link up the following email addresses to genealogies in
the files or links area. Now this doesn't mean you haven't sent in your
genealogy. It could mean that you sent it in but in the confusion of
day to day life I "forgot" to post it. After all I am human as hard as
that might be to believe. So if any of you all see your email address
below and you know that you sent in your work well just send it to me
again. Send it in an email or in an attachment privately to
makas@.... 1) Send me the email address you are subscribed
under. 2) the name(s) you want the file listed under. 3) Your name. 4)
Geographical area in Jalisco, Zacatecas, and/or Aguascalientes you want
associated with the file
. After I get it I'll make a folder for
you in the files area or if your work is already online I'll post the
link in the links area [Note: if any of you are possibly subscribed
under two different email addresses let me know]:

FHC: Extracting Data

okay. . .

let me just say there are many answers to that question. But as a
fairly new researcher I can give you how I and many others are
extracting data.

first you go to www.familysearch.org and look around the home page very
well. familiarize yourself with the tremendous wealth of free
genealogical information available on this site.

then you click on "Library" at the top and then on the next window
click on "Family History Centers."

Fill out the form finding the FHC closest to you then get your car keys
and cruise over to the location closest to you. go in and ask questions
and find out if there are any unlisted FHC's in the area. If you have
several FHC's in your area visit them all and see which is best as far
as location, hours, and services offered [note: i've heard of some mini
FHC's that only had computer banks with no film readers available].

okay then after you've got your location visited and selected choose
and order some films.

back at www.familysearch.org do a place search with the name of the
Rancho, Municipio or Cabecera of where your relatives lived in Mexico.
For example let's look at Tlaltenango, Zacatecas.

from the home page go to "Library" again and this time click on
"Family History Library Catalog" then click on "Place" and you'll get
this information:

 Place (Part of)

tlaltenango

Place search results

Tlaltenango

Mexico, Puebla, Tlaltenango

Tlaltenango de Sánchez Román

Mexico, Zacatecas, Tlaltenango de Sánchez Román

2 matching places.

click on the Zacatecas Tlaltenango and you'll get:

 Place

Mexico, Zacatecas, Tlaltenango de Sánchez Román
