Here's a very interesting document I googled about Zacatecas. It talks of the clubs in the USA called the 3x1 or formerly 2X1. In San Jose the Governor of Zacatecas came for a fundraiser two weeks ago. She was invited by the local club Zacatecano and unfortunately we could not attend as we were out of town for a convention. This is an effective method of networking for your geneaology group. The San Jose, Ca, club de Tlachichila will be holding a dance and fundraiser next month and I've been recruiting people to attend via the roots web page. I'll let you know how this goes as it goes.

well have you been using any Family History Center materials for your search? If not you need to locate the closest FHC to you and order some films from the Lagos area. I would think you will be find abundant info to begin tracing your family in these films. Let me know what city you live in and I'll send you the addresses of the FHC's close to you.

My mothers side of the family is all Ocampo but are from El Remolino, 
Zacatecas. I know that she has aunts and uncles, sibilings of my 
grandfather who are Ocampos, who lived and some who are living in 
different parts of Jalisco. Is there any other names you have with the 
Ocampo last name??

area of Lagos de Moreno, Encarnacion de Diaz, and Ojuelos.

I woul like to share any information that any one of you would have on 
the following last names Sevilla from my Father side. Apodaca from my 
Mother. Ocampo from my maternal Grandmother.
My ancestor come from the Santa Catarina/Zacoalco Jalisco areas. My 
Father's name was Jose Paz Sevilla, son of Paulino Sevilla and Sixta 
Morgutia. My Mother's name was Maria Apodaca doughter of Jose Apodaca 
and Florencia Ocampo. My Maternal Grandmother was born in 
Bellavista/Ocotlan de Juarez Jalisco a small town just South of Santa 
Catarina.

Thanks to a cousin that I found via the Zacoalco web page I was able to 
obtain much information on the APODACA last name..the Sevilla is the 
one that I have little or no information. Any information please..

...Las Cajas is in Jalisco, or at least the one I am referring to.  None of my family has ever lived in Zacatecas, or at least not this one.  Las Cajas is supposed to be around Lagos de Moreno or Rancho San Antonio de La Garza.  Thanks a bunch...Smiley

...I am just now starting to research my husbands side of the 
family.  The above towns are just a few of where they came from, and 
so this should be a new adventure for me.

My in-laws do not remember much about their ancestry, as they live in 
the USA now.  The surnames associated with this side of my family are:

SANCHEZ
FRANCO
ESPINOZA
FLORES

My husband was born in Las Cajas in 1968.  He has 12 siblings that 
were born in Las Cajas, Rancho San Antonio de La Garza, Tlacuitapa 
and Lagos de Moreno, respectively.

My father in law, Nicacio SANCHEZ ESPINOZA was born in Las Cajas. 
Nicacio' father, Manuel SANCHEZ passed away in 12/1996, in Tlacuitapa 
at his son, Paulino's house.  His wife, Maria ESPINOZA passed away, 
in 12/1991, at their home in Lagos de Moreno. Manuel & Maria had 9 
children; Nicacio, Paulino, Isidoro, Lino, Guadalupe, Maria Soledad, 
Juanita & Maria de La Luz.  Most of them live in and around 
Tlacuitapa & Rancho San Antonio de La Garza, with the exception of 
2.  Isidoro lives in Leon, Guanajuato and the other, Lino, they have 
no idea where he lives now. 

My mother in law, Juana FRANCO was born at (unk) ranch near Rancho 
Las Algadas. Her father, Fausto FRANCO passed away in 1969, at Rancho 
Las Algadas.  Her mother, Norberta FLORES was born in Jalisco, unk 
location but near the above mentioned ranchos and is alive today 
living in Guadalajara.  Fausto & Norberta had 6 children; Juana, 
Maria de Guadalupe, Refugio, Fausto Jr, Salvador & Martin.  Most of 
them live in Guadalajara at present.

I do not have any other info past my in-laws, except some of the 
spouses names.  I did live in Lagos de Moreno on a couple of 
occasions but was not doing research at that time (dumb me).  I know 
the parroquia was across the street from where they lived, and that 
my younger in-laws were all baptized there.  Now I need to find out 
its' name. I am hoping to learn how to trace this family so I can 
pass this info onto my children and my in-laws. I appreciate being 
allowed to post this info and look forward to learning from each of 
you.  If you have any pointers, PLEASE let me know.
