Glad to know that you liked those two links that I posted.

About "my secret methods" to search on the internet, well that's what 
they are: Secret.

Just kidding, Edward!!!

No big secret really.  I regularly use Google because I get the best 
results with it.  The key lies in the search expressions that you use.

It is what I would call the "shovel approach" versus the "tweezers 
approach".  In other words, using a single search expression or a 
couple of generic expressions will get you a scoop of information but 
not necessarily what you're looking for.  

What I try to do is to combine several selected words and/or phrases 
in my search expressions, sometimes even using exclusion filters, to 
narrow down the search results.  

In these particular case the reason you didn't find the same sites 
could've been that I used the letter "ñ" instead of the "n" in Peña.

Thank you for your two emails. They are very interesting. One more question. How did you 
get this information. I "searched" all over the place and you seemed to find this without 
much difficulty. Please tell me your secret methods. Do you search via Mexico site? Search 
engine?

My guess is that it does exist still but not under a single

it was in existence as of the year 2000. . .go to "links" go to "2000

to download) then go to "Valparaiso" then go to "Pena Blanca."

My grandmother was born on the hacienda Pena Blanca. Does anyone have
any information on this hacienda and whether it exists in any form at
present? Per birth records the hacienda had to be close to Valparaiso,
Zacatecas. My guess is that it belonged to the Felguerez family but I
am not certain.

I think what you're refering to is the "Cristiada" or "Guerra de los 
Cristeros", a violent conflict between the Mexican government and the 
Catholic church in the 1920's.

You can do a search of those two words and you'll find a lot of 
information on that little know episode of the Mexican history.

to do with "La Cristada en Valparaiso, Zacatecas y Huejuquilla, 
Jalisco" - pretty gruesome photos (hangings and beheadings), but do  
not know the background of this event, when it took place, etc. Can 
anyone provide information? I tried google, but didn't find much that 
was helpful (judging by synopsi (sp?)- however,I did not open any of

what great good luck. keeping it all in the family produces what are
called "Marriage Dispensas" Seems that when couples were related they
needed special permission to marry and this often involved lots of
investigation and genealogy lines being produced. I'm not the expert on
this subject and there are a few messages in the archives about
Dispensas. . .I'm not sure that was the subject name. . .check out some
of Steven Hernandez' messages. Also George Ryskamp has a good chapter in
his book about Mexican Genealogy on the subject. Did your Informacion
Matrimonial investigation have a genealogy tree included?

I wonder what the story
is? I know that this isn't exactly what this board is for - but just
thought I'd share a "research" experience.

This board is about Life, but life as related to Jalisco, Zacatecas,
and Aguascalientes. This takes in a very very broad range of subjects
since you can just about tie in anything in "life" to genealogy. That
being said I'm trying to figure out how your message was not what we are
here for. . .mind you that you won't always get an answer but it never
hurts (well it might hurt a little) it never hurts to ask.
