TEST SITE - DO NOT USE - Development only

Hello Joseph,

I've been trying to get a phone book from Zacatecas and nearby 
towns.  I've been making calls to the company that publishes the 
phone books, which is "Sección Amarilla" but I've been getting 
refered from one place to another and haven't been succesful yet.

Their website (www.seccionamarilla.com.mx) allows you to lookup a 
number of any place in México but you have to enter the name of the 
person, which I suspect is not exactly what you'd like doing anyway.  
You see, these phone books are printed only for their subscribers, 
and although I'm sure that they have to print some extra copies is 
not very easy finding them.  I'm still trying, though.

I've also posted some messages in one of the Zacatecas forums asking 
for help from someone who lives there to help us get at least one 
phone book.  No answer yet.  By the way, is it Ok if I get last 
year's edition?

Hijola,

somebody at that FHC is doing some intense research in our target area.
. .if you wouldn't mind maybe put up a notice on the FHC patron
information board about Ranchos. I'm always interested in adding serious
researchers [with an emphasis on serious but no emphasis on whether they
are beginners, journeymen, or advanced] to the group.

let me know if you want me to send you something to put up on the
bulletin board.

ps: General message to the group: its okay to tell people that are
studying in our target area about the group, but make sure they
understand there are two "easy" requirements to be a member that I will
make them comitt to in writing before subscribing them.

I would like to put a standing order in. . .please please please buy me a phone book. The next time anyone from the group or someone that the group knows goes to Mexico I need a phone book. Believe me I'm good for reimbursing you  for both your expenses and trouble. I need phone books from any places in our target area state. . .hey and while you are there why not get yourself a copy too! A great way to collect Oral History.

True, but when I first got started in to genealogy,
almost all of the microfilm from Jerez and Camargo was
available.

Before going to the FHL in Salt Lake, you need to  check and see if
the films,that you want look at are there.  You can do this by
checking the Library Catalog, at Familysearch.org, if the films are in
the the FHL, it will say above the film number FHL International or
FHL USA, etc.  If it is in the vault, It will say Vault.  You can
order the film into the library by calling the Library at (801)
240-2334. That is the direct line to the International floor
attendants, just say that you want ot order a film, into the the
library.  It usually takes about 2 days to arrive.  Also, they give
priority to patrons, who come from outside of Utah, to use the library.

Also, when are you planning on going to the Library, in March?  Maybe
we can meet at the Library?

Alicia, I have to agree with Evie.  I visited the FH Library in Salt 
Lake in November of 2003.  I found many films from Mexico were 
there, but not all of the specific films I was interested in.  When 
I asked about them I was informed that they were in the Vault and 
that it would take a couple of days to get copies of them sent to 
the library.  If you are only going for a few days it's best to call 
ahead and be prepared with the films you are most interested in 
viewing.  

I was only there for a few hours because I had missed a connecting 
flight to another destination, but it was a very productive visit.  
I had thought about gifting myself a trip to Salt Lake for my 
birthday (coincidentally in March also).  Hey, I guess great minds 
think alike!  :-)

Alicia, I made the trip several years ago and was disappointed to find that
all of the Mexico records were in the vault and, therefore, unavailable
without prior reservation.  Perhaps this situation has changed by now. 
However, I would suggest that you call or write and reserve those films you
wish to view, just to be sure.  Evie
