San Julio Álvarez Mendoza Family

I received an email from a relative asking me if we were related to San Julio Álvarez Mendoza.

I have been able to construct a tree to five generations and yes he does have surnames that are common to los altos de Jalisco but have not yet been able to connect them to any of my branches. I have connected them to San Juan de Los Lagos and Atotonilco de los altos. I will keep searching and will post when I find a confirmed connection.

Capellania question

I'm hoping someone can help me find the testament and capellania for Marcos Gonzalez from Jalpa who died in 1670.

Comment

I found a partial transcription of the testament of Marcos Gonzalez Hidalgo, here: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Gonz%C3%A1lez_Hidalgo-20

More specifically Marcos' parents are Marcos Gonzalez Hidalgo del Valle and Mariana (Juana) NAVARRO RODRIGUEZ, who settled in Monterrey. See the links below:
http://www.sologenealogia.com/gen/getperson.php?personID=I456&tree=009
and
http://www.currays.net/Gonzalez%20Web%20Project/wp03/wp03_466.htm

Is anyone a direct male ancestor of this Gonzalez line, as I'm interested in seeing if my paternal DNA is a match.

First you need to ask the NR moderator to create your Tree on GEDCOM.

Second you need to convert your data to GED 5.5 and upload to your new GEDCOM Tree on Nuestros Ranchos using the "ADMINSTRATION" button on the GEDCOM site.

I believe Estefana did have different parents. (I'm going over old notes a distant cousin wrote for me.) this cousin had Estefana listed as having Tadeo Dias & Genoveva as the parents.

Hello Rosalinda,

Can you share that dispensa? I would like to see it, thank you. ;)

I have Nicolas de Avila, son of Juan Lopez de Avila and Juana Trujillo, married to Magdalena de Contreras, though their children were born between 1707 and 1720, so Gertudis could be a 2nd marriage (unless I'm wrong about Magdalena Contreras... need to review my notes).

Maria Gertrudis Falcon de la Garza was the daughter of Joseph de la Garza and Catalina Gomez-Avila; she was baptized 23 Nov 1713, Pinos:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15233-31246-40?cc=1804458&wc…

Joseph de la Garza was son of Phelipe de la Garza and Phelipa Santiago, and Catalina Gomez, the daughter of Blas Gomez de las Ruelas and Maria de Avila. They were married 10 Feb 1706, Pinos:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-15246-29107-90?cc=1804458&wc…

I have Blas Gomez and Maria de Avila in my lines, they were from Zacatecas, Zacatecas, and moved to Salitre

Comment

Hi Manny,

This is the dispensation in question:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18433-6041-14?cc=1874591&wc=…

On this page, https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18433-6324-26?cc=1874591&wc=…

it shows a family tree, with the pretenso, Francisco de Avila (son of Sebastian de Avila & Lugarda Dias) marrying Maria Regina de Avila (daughter of Ygnacio de Avila & Maria Francisca Araiza). As you can see in the tree, the tronco is Ticio (I was trying to figure out this name) Davila & Maria Zapata. Since I couldn't figure out the man's name, I decided to trace Ygnacio's line up, which led me to his father, Doroteo, and in turn Doroteo's father, Bernardo de Avila. Bernardo, as you know, is son of Juan Lopez de Avila & his second wife, Juana de Trujillo. Juan & Juana had a son, Nicolas, and in the dispensation tree, this Nicolas is the son of the tronco couple. The timing of Nicolas' baptism (as son

Comment

Hi Rosalina,

This is brilliant - I descend from Bernardo, and I’ve tracked these lines thoroughly, so I’m sure I can help you crack this.

Let me look this over, and I’ll see what I have. In the meantime, upon looking at my notes, Nicolas de Avila-Trujillo could NOT have been married to Magdalena Contreras, since he was born in 1696, and Nicolas de Avila and Magdalena Contreras were already having children the first decade of the 1700s.

You’re on track!

Manny Diez Hermosillo

Comment

Hi Rosalinda,

You’re right, Juan Lopez de Avila and Juana de Trujillo are the correct tronco for this tree, which reminds us how foggy the descendants' & testigos’ memories can be. I have the Bernardo side down to Joseph Ygnacio Raphael de Avila (though not his wife), and it corresponds to the tree in the dispensa. Nicolas and Bernardo are brothers, though, as you mention, it’d be nice to seal it with marriage or burial records for Nicolas de Avila and Gertrudis de la Garza, as well as others.

The earliest baptism I have for one of their children is for Joseph Bonificio, who was baptized 27 Jan 1727, Pinos. He was born on Salitre, where her family lived (between there and San Nicolas, where she was born), and where they were likely married. Unless we have an earlier birth, we’re looking at them marrying before early 1726, and in Pinos. I have some time this evening, I’ll dig through the Pinos archives.

Regarding “Ticio,” on no other record have I seen Juan de Avila referred to as

The Tadeo Diaz you refer to is apparently not this one. That Tadeo was married to Genoveva Leanos between 1819 and 1848 and had many children, one of whom is Florentino.

Estefana was born in January 1830. Unless she was an illegitimate child, you have the wrong father.

Say "conversion de indios tepehuanos" on page 86

I am looking for Huejuquilla El Alto

This is "registro de nuevo galicia" I found in the PARS website.

I need to remind myself also look for a "registro de zacatecas" in the PARS site.

Odd because when I enter that reference number it comes out differently that the original documet I am looking at. What I originally am looking at is this:

And the way I found is I typed in google search:

And selected the one that is circle in green:

And it took me right to the 742 page document in the pars website

Now I see how to get to the registro de nuevo galicia:

Just copy and paste this reference number in the pars website: GUADALAJARA,230,L.3

I found it on page 106 of the PDF file.

Also on the pdf file I was reading about the colonization of San Martin De Bolanos and Francisco Ibarra baptizes San Martin as "Nombre De Dios."

I have seen that name off and on in the LDS archives "Nombre De Dios."

That one is on page 118.

La villa de Nombre de Dios was indeed part of Zacatecas, practically the "frontier" and heavily militarized (you can tell by the amount of captains that lived there) today is in the borderline of Durango facing Zac. I've had research the oldest film for this place which its until today my most difficult challenge, for anyone who venture to it I have to say that there are many pages in between that were not indexed (since is in very poor conditions and the pictures taken where really bad) and thus. although some records in the FamilySearch index point to the film, this isn't by any means the whole contents of it.

One of my oldest ancestors (Agustin Quiralte) established there and like him there were some other people with family relations in Zacatecas, I have a list of some surnames that appear in the first film, some are quite familiar if you have done some genealogy in Zac. One of the most prominent families were the Flores y Rivera same that owned (and probably constructed) the

Arturo,
I believe I had written to you a few months ago requesting to see the family tree you have of Victoriano Huerta so far. Although his cousins seem to be missing, and that is the key for me as I believe my g-g-grandmother was related to him however it is hard to show since I have yet to find any records for her.

Comment

Arturo,

Sorry the films start in 1718 they where probably married before that date since one of there children is being married in 1832.

In FamilySearch there is a marriage of Phelipe Marques to JNA. JETRUDIS DE LUNA
Marriage: 12 MAY 1727 San Luis, Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico
Film: 0443781 Batch: M604651 years 1720 - 1751

This might be a second spouse so I would look at the marriage record it will indicate if he was previously married. If his first wife did pass away he would have remarried quickly since he had young children at home.

Thank you for your help. There are actually records for Colotlan dating back to the 1660s but they were not filmed by the LDS Church and now the priest in Colotlan won't let people look at them. Select records were transcribed by Esteban Valdes but the marriage in question is not in there. I was hoping it might show up in neighboring Tlaltenango, which was the main market town of the area...

As with Miguel Hidalgo, most history books have erroneous information on Victoriano Huerta's birthdate and sometimes even his parents' names. I got into an editing war on Wikipedia over it that didn't end even after I posted his baptism certificate which was even annotated for when the record transcription was sent to Mexico City...

Comment

Hi Arturo, where is it possible to look at these transcriptions or non filmed information?

It would be of great help.

Other than the total East Asian % Native American the only times that the amounts between siblings will consistently be within 1-5% are when the Gedmatch calculators are used or the Dodecad Wrapper is used.

Siblings share 50% of the DNA. Due to recombination each child gets a random 50% of one parent and a random 50% of the other parents DNA. Only 25% of each parents overlaps in siblings. http://www.isogg.org/wiki/Autosomal_DNA_statistics

That is why testing as many close relatives as possible is best.

Hello Rick,

It depends on what you are looking for.

To find cousins you should get the autosomal tests at all of the companies - the FTDNA Family Finder, 23andme, and Ancestry.com tests.

To get the best ethnic breakdown 23andme. 2nd best is Ancestry.com

For the direct paternal line an FTDNA Y-DNA37 marker test minimum. 67 marker is even better.

For the maternal line the Full Sequence mtDNA although an mtDNAplus can be enough if all you want to know if the maternal line is Native American, European, or other.

Help please

You all have been so helpful in the past I hate to ask for a favor. I am having trouble with this Marriage Dispensation. I am trying to locate Francisco Hurtado Jimenez’ parents names.

Comments

Comment

The Dispensa only mention his mothers name and the relation tree between the groom and the bride, he is at that point also a widower, the tree mentioned is as follow:

1 Doña Maria Anna de Anda (sister of) Juan de Anda Altamirano

2 Doña Micaela de Pedroza (cousin of) Geronimo de Anda

3 Francisco Hurtado Ximenes (second cousin of) Lucas de Anda

4 -------------------------------------------- Anna Agustina de Anda (third niece of the groom)

looking quickly on familysearch for the name of the mother plus the Hurtado last names it shows this result:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NVRT-YLQ

Comment

RJ, thank you for your assistance. This is going to take me sometime to figure out. I did have that connection for Francisco Hurtado Ximenes' parents but I was hoping the dispensation gave the father's name so I could confirm it. I truly appreciate your time.

Comment

Well, the search results at familysearch are actually three (with the mothers name plus the Hurtado name); Francisco Hurtado Anda, Maria Cornelia Huratado Anda and Mariana Hurtado Pedroza, the three records shows the fathers as Joseph Hurtado, that for me would be a good amount of data to corroborate the fathers name, who in turn may be Hurtado Ximenes and thus his son name himself with both surnames. If you add the fact that the mothers name shows no just Pedroza but De Anda in those records I would say that's a positive identification in comparison with the Dispensa, where clearly states she is from De Anda and Pedroza family. Hope it helps a little.

Forgot to tell you, you should check (although you probably did already) Francisco first marriage which seems to be this one: Francisco Urtado and Ana Gutierres de Mendoza, if you find the corresponding marriage information besides the marriage record (informacion matrimonial on familysearch) would probably give you the names of the

Comment

Thanks again RJ. I have all of those and thanks. By you telling me he was a widower I was able to find the record for his first marriage. It is indeed Ana Gutierres de Mendoza and it lists his parents as Joseph Hurtado and Micaela de Pedroza. I also found the marriage information for his parents Joseph and Micaela and when reading it says "no conosidos" which I believe means they don't know who his parents are.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-18567-41563-8?cc=1874591&wc=…

Comment

Yes, unfortunately as you may know already most widower/widow records for marriage lack the parents name, but in the other hand that Dispensa gave you a least the tree for the "De Anda" family. By the way, the witnesses are: Francisco Alvares Tostado, Christobal Ramires de Hermosillo and Luis Lopez Ramires.

Indeed the "no conocidos" means they did not know the parents for your last record, now the reasons for that could be many, therefore it many not necessarily be a dead end yet, but could go either way.

Interesting how all this people those records in this time period are using two surnames, I've hardly seen that on my own genealogy, always something to learn. Good luck with your researches.

I also have the collection and I have already verified that the information
exists as it was given to Ronnie but in Tomo VI vol. 1 page 18 which is the
section on the Márquez family. It also exists in Tomo IV vol. 2 page 511 in
the section on the González Rubio family. I had replied at

Tomo VI vol. 1 page 18 has the information in the section on the Márquez family. Tomo IV vol. 2 page 511 in the section on the González Rubio family also has that information.

Catalina Aceves was the daughter of Juan de Aceves and Beatriz González de Hermosillo and Beatriz was the daughter of Juan González de Hermosillo and María Muñoz.
