Jalisco, Zacatecas y Aguascalientes

Hello All,

I just want to remind everyone that it is okay to stray "a little" off
the target area [Jalisco, Zacatecas y Aguascalientes] of this group in
our discussion, but if you see that a particular message you really
want to discuss requires staying "off target"
how about lets take it to private email. Just make note of the
individuals involved copy and paste their email addresses into a new
email and copy and paste whatever particulars you want to discuss.

thanks,

joseph

Rey/Reyes Name

Hi, Al. Can you provide me with more information on
your Chihuahua family. Specifically for the Saenz and
Flores. I'm researching my wife's family, and on her
mother side they are Flores and Saenz. Only they are
from Valle del Rosario. Any information will be
greatly appreciated.

Guillermo Valdez.

Al,

Are your Leyvas from Chihuahua?  I have a grandparent from my mother's side of the family who was the brother of the Leyvas who settled in Parral in the 1600's.  One of these Leybas was among the founders of New Mexico and there is a tile supposedly with his name on it at the Palace of the Governors in New Mexico.

Alicia Martin del Campo de Wissing (did I do that right folks?)

Al,

I don't find maria in my files but, I do have about 40 Banuelas from Camargo in my tree. Three of my grandparents were born in Camargo and perhaps Maria Flores Banuelas is connected thru the Banuelas line. Some of my surnames in Camargo are  SAENZ, MEDINA,  SAAVEDRA,  AGUILAR, FIERRO, RUIZREY, GUTIERRES, VASQUES,  PORRAS,  RUBIO,  FLORES AND BANUELAS.   Do you have more info  on the Banuelas line?  I know I need to submit my family lines to the ranchos group. What other lines are you researching in Camargo or Santa Rosalia, perhaps I can look in my book " CAMARGO, Dos Decadas de Subida".  Just let me know and I will look.

I have on more than one occasion
heard that people with the Rey or
Reyes last name belong to one and the
same family. How can this be
possible??  Has anyone heard similar
comments or can anyone
elaborate. Is it a root name of another name, where
does it
orginate, does it come from another country??? In my family I have

RuizRey, Flores-Rey, Rey, these families are from the Camargo

Chihuahua area. Yet, my daughter married a Tomas Rey in El Paso,
Tx.

Are they related or what?

Rey, Reyes, etc

I went to this page:

http://genealogy.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.loc.gov/rr/hispanic/geneal/index%5Fgc.html

and plugged Rey in and found that according to this Heraldry Dictionary
the names were different. Of coure that doesn't mean that one name
didn't evolve into the other or a lot of other possibilities:

Index to the Enciclopedia Heráldica Hispano-Americana of
Alberto and Arturo García Carraffa

The 88 volumes of this work, [Library of Congress Call Number:
CR2142.G3] supplemented by a continuing work, offer an immense tribute
to the work of indefatigable genealogists. The work treats Spanish
heraldry in the first two volumes, and with volume three begins the Diccionario
Heráldico y Genealógico de Apellidos Españoles y Americanos
, or
a listing of over 15,000 names with their respective genealogical
histories (with color illustrations of representative crests) of
Spanish and Spanish-American families. Please note that on the spine
one finds two numbers, the Enciclopedia number followed
by the Diccionario number (in other words there is a two
volume difference in numbering).

Originally begun in 1919, its publishing history continued until
1963 when the last volume encompassing the letter "u" was published as
a tribute to her late husband by Margarita Prendes Carraffa. In 1952, a
reprinting of the earlier volumes began. The alphabet covered by the
work goes from "a" through "u".

okay, i just know that some of you are itching (pues rasca) to know
about your Mexican DNA. And i just know you wish this group provided you
with a lot more high quality messages for you to increase your learning
on this subject. . .well never fear the Mexico DNA forum is alive and in
operation thanks to Gary Felix. why not have a look and get all your
questions asked and wait for some good answers. . . .well those answers
won't be coming from me because I'm still in the asking mode.
