30 of you need to either contact me privately with your reasons or submit your genealogies. ========================================== Joseph, the only reason I have is that I have not been able to find out where my father was born, or when -- other than Mexico by the Texas border. Recently, I obtained a copy of his petition papers to become a U.S. Naturalized Citizen. I also now have some names of his brothers and sisters (but no birth dates or places). I am in the process of using Family Tree Maker to enter this newly acquired info, but as I mentioned, all I have is names. Is that sufficient? Art Garza

okay we're doing pretty good. I just counted and 28 out of the 58
members have sent me their genealogies. I won't be happy until we have a
bare minimum of 75%.
In 6 months we will meet this goal. set your calendars for March 1, 2004.
30 of you need to either contact me privately with your reasons or
submit your genealogies.

A fabulous thank you must go out to Gloria Delgado for this wonderful
link. Now if any of you all have favorite or just plain good links to
anything from our area of research or that possibly would assist us in
our research please send them to me so I can put a link up in the links
section.

Hello, Ola, Dag o te' Ciao, Miyuu, Greetings to all, just joined the group and am hoping to be not only of help but to make connections. Ttwobraids
Hello; I have an ancestor that was born in "Lagos de Moreno" Mexico. I think that it may be near or in the state of Jalisco. I am not sure. I just need to know what state in Mexico it is in. Jose Macias usa20@...
I'm not sure who all might have Villanueva, Zacatecas Films. If any of
you do I'd surely appreciate a look up for any one or possibly two of
the following:
1. JOSE JUAN FRANCISCO PUENTE FRAUSTO - International Genealogical
Index Gender: Male Christening: 17 MAY 1867 San Judas Tadeo, Villanueva,
Zacatecas, Mexico
2. LUCIANO DEL CARMEN PUENTE FRAUSTO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Christening: 10 JAN 1869 San Judas Tadeo, Villanueva,
Zacatecas, Mexico
3. MARIA ERACLIA PUENTE FRAUSTO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 11 JUN 1865 San Judas Tadeo, Villanueva,
Zacatecas, Mexico
4. MARIA NICOLASA PUENTE FRAUSTO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 31 OCT 1870 San Judas Tadeo, Villanueva,
Zacatecas, Mexico
5. MICAELA PUENTE FRAUSTO - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 03 OCT 1871 San Judas Tadeo, Villanueva,
Zacatecas, Mexico
Its not critical that I have a fotocopy of the record. . .I'm just
wondering if I should go fishing in this area and have a strong feeling
that this is my line of Puente's.

a while back Maria Cortez sent us this website URL:
http://biblio2.colmex.mx/bibdig/dicc_cubas/base3.htm
I would strongly urge those of us in the group that consider themselves
"beginning" genealogists to pay a close visit to this great Diccionario.
One way I am using it is to find the Main City or town close to my area
of research and looking it up. You'll find that very many of the small
ranchos are listed under the "cabecera" of the area. Other than the
baptism record [which was good enough by itself] this dictionary and
another I found at Duke University have confirmed that El Rancho de los
Negros where my GG Grandfather Cecilio Puente was born is indeed in the
Villanueva, Zacatecas area.
You can also use this to compare the typed names on the page with any
possible hard to read names on the handwritten documents we are reading.

Just a short note to let you know that the HOGAR de Dallas journal has been compiled. It consists of 167 double sided pages of genealogy research (census and birth extracts, family stories, family lineages). HOGAR de Dallas is a genealogy organization based in Dallas, Texas. Arturo Romero, who belongs to this group, was very generous in allowing us to publish some of his genealogy research. I also belong to this group and have communicated via email with some of you. If you are interested in viewing the table of contents for this year's journal (#6), let me know and I can send you a copy. I have the table of contents in MS Excel 97 format. Thanks Arturo Garza

Ola to all Ranchos Members, My name is Yolanda Gomez, and I am married to Jose Nicolas Gomez. Jose was born in Mexticacan, Jalisco. Mexico in 1947, and we still visit Mexticacan, Yahulica, Los Charcos, Jalostitlan, etc. I will post his genealogy, which is only to his great-great parents, however he has the names of aunts and uncles of his parents and grand-parents. His grandfather is still alive and lives near Mexticacan. Both his parents are still alive, however they relocated to Guadalajara, however remain in close contact with family and friends in Mextcicacan, Yahulica, etc. I hope to learn from each of you. Yolly
What this PhD Thesis has to do with genealogy. . .I'm not sure. but
since there were several in the group from the Los Altos area I thought
I'd put it out strictly as FYI:
TI: A DIALECT AND FOLKLORISTIC STUDY OF TEXTS RECORDED IN LOS ALTOS OF
JALISCO, MEXICO
AU: ROBE-STANLEY-L DN: PHD DD: 1950 SN: THE-UNIVERSITY-OF-NORTH-CAROLINA-AT-CHAPEL-HILL (0153) PG: 1 LA: ENGLISH SU: Language-and-Literature-General (0586) SO: VOLUME W1950 OF DISSERTATION ABSTRACTS INTERNATIONAL. PAGE 206. NO: AAI0173544 ====================
I guess that brings me to talk about the Database that can be found on
most University database collections:
Dissertation Abstracts
Good one if you want to see what Thesis and Dissertations have been
written about your particular area of interest.

Hi everyone,
Angie, I went to the web site and found all of that lovely
information. Thank you very much.
I did have a question. In your letter, you list Maria Santos Godina
Ramos' great-grandparents, but you didn't list her parents or
grandparents nor could I find that on the web site. May I have that
information?
As for the Huizar and the Germany connect.... I know that there were
van Huizen in Leeuwarderadeel, Friesland, Netherlands from (1810 to
1888). Of course, they may still be there, but the last date I have
is 1888. I have been told that this is very near the Germany and
Netherlands border.
Jan AEtze van Huizen (1810-1880)
wife: Elske Halbes Algra
Son: AEtze Jan van Huizen (1839-1883)
wife: Ytje Haitzes Haitsma
Daughter: Elsie van Huizen (1869-1971)was my great-grandmother
from my father's family.
So, for me, it would be interesting to find a connection.
Thank you,
Roseholly

--- Begin Message ---
I have heard similar stories regarding Huizar with German roots, except the I was told the original spelling may have been Wisar or Wizar. I have not found any documented proof so I don't know how valid those stories are. There is a city in Europe(I can't remember which country, maybe Spain?) called Guisar or Guizar, which seemed to be a more popular spelling of Huizar before 1800's. So I wonder if there is any correlation with the surname and the city? - Angie
Right now until the 21st Yahoo is storing Attachments in the message
archives along with the messages that had them included. After the 21st
Yahoo will be removing the attachments before archiving. So if you
receive a message from the group and if it has an attachment save it to
your hardrive if its of interest to you because after the 21st you won't
be able to retreive it from the message archives [the message will be
there but the attached attachment won't].
see you all in a few days, joseph
