militar insignia regarding my photos

ok, in the original picture (I should do this in the first place)the
militar sitting has three bars in the hat and so on the shoulders; the
other, with an eagle badge has two capital letters on the collar C and
P. In the site www.en.wikipedia.org I found for the mexican army that
three bars mean Capitan Segundo (Senior Captain)and three bars with
the one in the middle been shorter means Capitan Primero (Captain) so
I have know why the eagle on the chest and CP on the collar.

As a former Marine I don't believe you are correct:
Two bars in the U.S. Navy was a Lieutenent. A Captain
insignia in the Navy an Eagle. The Navy LT. did wear
two bars {bands} but on his sleeve. The Captain had
four on his.

Rank Of Leticia's Ancestors

I don't believe your husband is right when he says that
rank insignia is universal. One example: Navy  A Captain's insigia is 2
bars, but in Mexico is three bars.  U.S. Navy isignia are also different
from the U.S. Air Force.

Hi, Leticia,

My husband was in the U. S. Marines, and he said that rank insignia are
universal.  He says the man sitting in the chair is a Captain
(capitan).  The other man with the blue eyes and a badge on his chest and
insignia on his collar (it looks like an eagle-emblem), is a Major
(mayor?).  The rank above major is Lt. Colonel.

No, but that's what I thought at first myself. It says he was from Spain originally but resident in this area (Zacatecas) for 18 years. Marge:)

Thanks for the information. So many common
locallities, surnames, and places... May I ask the
Title and Author of the book you read on Francisco
Castallanos Sanchez?

Although I see the money signs with the Munoz Family
in Jerez...I have no data to support. That would
improve the color of green on the tree.

Thanks for the reply

Muros and Sanchez Castellanos

My Muro family did marry into the Luna, Haro, Sanchez,
Carrillo, Marquez, Sandoval, Saldana, Rodriguez and
Gonzales, Gomez families. I have gone back into the
mid-1750's with most of these lines. I'm going to
submit more of our family tree since right now I just
have our Muro's in the files. Our family lived in
Sauz De Los Marques and record shows the Muros were
back as far as 1731. Most of our family records were
in Colotlan and Santa Mara De Los Angeles, Villanueva
and probably will find they started in Jerez. I
haven't been able to break through my brick wall with
Juan del Muro & Rita Gertrudis Gomez (mid-1750's).

Thanks for the info submitted, I will check my notes
to see if any of these names are on tree. I envy
those that have gone back into the 1600's, all of you
are true researchers and have helped so many of us
with new ideas!!!!

Jose:
I forgot to mention the ranch my uncles purchased (Lo
de Luna, which included a number of other ranches in
the area) was from the Munoz family, one of the
wealthiest and famous families in Jerez at that time.

I would say yes. Duarte and the Haro families did
intermarry, too, in Jerez. Also, the ranch my uncles
(Garcia de la Cadena brothers) purchased outside of
Jerez circa 1730 was called Lo de Luna. Luna family
ties?

Written on some of the church documents that I
researched on the Duartes, I've seen the names Pueblo
de Talltenango, Fresnillo and Guadalajara mention.

Also, in his time, Francisco Castellanos Sanchez was
one of the most wealthest men in Zacatecas, according
to a book I read. I sure could use some of his money
now.

The exploitation and enslavement of 500 years, from
Mexico's caste and colonial system under the
Encomienda, are rooted deep within all of us. A weed
is a hard thing eradicate. Remember when you had
Dallas grass? Hopefully these last 50 years of
struggling against racial nationalism(e.g. defeat of
the Nazi's,collapse of Communism and the development
of the American Civil Rights Movement and birth of the
Rock 'n Roll and Salsa) will give fruit to a more
equal distribution of the benefits of being
alive, well, singing and dancing in these times.

Are we just all related?
I believe the Sanchez Castellanos families from
Jerez/Xerez were related to the Duartes from Jerez.
Two of my great------grandmothers from Jerez were from
Sanchez family and my uncle Tribucio Duarte and
Francisco Castellano Sanchez were business partners
back in 1815. I do know that Francisco Castellanos
was originally from Aguascalientes.
